Overwatch update

https://compete.kotaku.com/how-two-underaged-girls-say-an-overwatch-pro-took-advan-1825185594

Unwise of the Overwatch “pro,” but as a nerdy guy who never had any attention from girls, and suddenly a bunch of teenage girls find him a desirable person to know, I guess that can go to his head and he has no experience on how to handle the situation. We can say “he should have known better because he’s 21” but his emotional age with respect to his experience with girls was probably more like 15 or 16, the same as the girls he was mutually flirting with.

  1. When the high of talking with a “celeb” wears off, these girls realize they were flirting with an ugly beta male and women absolutely hate beta males.

With the exception of Ben Affleck, there are no Chads in the #metoo accused. Sexual harassment and you: Be attractive, don’t be unattractive.

    • Which is why R. Kelly has gotten away with raping all kinds of women and girls. He’s a true Alpha Male.

  2. If this article is even half accurate he was hardly an innocent lamb led to slaughter. He was successfully hustling multiple girls online while managing a girlfriend. Just because he’s a gaming nerd doesn’t mean he’s socially clueless; also he’s hispanic and hispanic nerds are, by and large, less dorky than white nerds.

Typically I would feel bad for a socially inept nerd lured down the road to perdition but I just don’t see it here.

  3. “He used his social status to take advantage of us”

Hey lady, the only reason you messaged him is cause of his social status. What a joke. Responding to groupies is harassment now? She initiated the conversation. Talking to girls under aged 18 is stupid.

Time to start giving overwatch players the same classes they give to New NBA recruits

    • Do women complain as often about men who “used their good looks to take advantage of us”?

Also, an individual girl won’t mind if he used his social status to hookup, as long as it’s exclusive. If he’s playing the field and using them as tissues, then they’ll feel slutty and worthless.

  4. In a 1991 book, A View From Above, Wilt Chamberlain, the basketball great claimed to have slept with 20,000 different women during his life. Sports figures, band members, politicians, and the rich elite have been having sex with young women for decades or centuries. Jailing or firing a few will not change human nature, no matter how disgusting it is in modern feminist society.

    • I bet that some of those 20,000 women were under the age of 18.

    • There’s no way Chamberlain had more than 2,000. I remember some porn star claiming he (the porn star) had 2,000 in his entire career. And he had had a pretty long career. So 2,000 is about the most I can believe.

      • One of the reasons why AIDS spread so quickly in the 1980’s was that many gay men had huge numbers of sex partners. Five hundred a year was not at all unusual. Even the most extremely Alpha straight men almost never get to that level.

    • Chamberlain’s claim is ridiculous. At the rate of one new and different woman every day, that would take over 54 years. I’ll bet Chamberlain wasn’t too good with numbers. “Twenty-thousand” was probably just his way of saying “a bajillion.”

I agree with your other point, though. Indeed, this is another form of anarcho-tyranny, in that the law is not enforced against the true elite like rock stars and pro athletes; it’s the nerds like this Overwatch player who get caught and punished. (R. Kelly was famously found not guilty of his underage sex charges, despite being caught on video!) Turns out the real world really is just like the playground in elementary school, where the nerd sees the cool, popular kid doing something that’s against the rules, figures “oh, I guess that rule isn’t a rule after all,” starts doing the same thing, and immediately gets in trouble for it, the cool kid giving the nerd a furtive evil smirk as the teacher ushers the latter off to the principal’s office.

  5. I agree. Especially with the part about his emotional age probably being much less than his chronological age. I don’t get the impression he was some predator running around trying to take advantage of underage girls. Not saying every girl is worldly wise. But there are plenty of teenage girls who know exactly what they’re doing. If anything, she was the spider and he the fly. And now he’ll probably spend the rest of his life as a registered sex offender.

    • The girl’s messages in the screenshot the article contains make it pretty obvious she was into him. This is the online equivalent of a regret-driven morning-after false rape accusation. Once the girls became unhappy with the situation for whatever reason, they knew they could offload their negative feelings by blaming the whole thing on him. And of course this can’t even be questioned, because “HOW DARE YOU?! SHE’S A CHILD!!!!!”

  6. Are you deliberately misrepresenting this story, or are you trying to spin it in a way you think is more accurate because you think the articles you’ve posted are misrepresenting it? I certainly don’t think the mainstream way of looking at this kind of issue, which sees underage people as totally innocent victims and the legal adult as some kind of oppressive patriarchalist no matter who said or did what, is accurate, but these articles have stated as fact that he initiated contact, aggressively got sexual, and had a girlfriend. None of that is it all consistent with your comments on this story.

    • I think a 21-year-old guy with a hard-on, who is inexperienced with girls, will do stupid things.

      • ALL men with hard ons do stupid things. That doesn’t make them immune from the law.

        April 12, 2018 at 7:24 PM

      • You could say the same thing about women, “Horny, drunk women who are inexperienced with men, will do stupid things,” but our legal system bends over backwards for them.

Hard to get worked up over a young man doing exactly what young men should do. Law and government should not be daddy government acting as personal enforcer to women with regrets. This fraud has gone on far too long.

    • I agree that based on what little information we have this guy seems reasonably savvy. He is directing the interactions rather than just wandering through asexual small-talk or making a sudden shift into a sexual frame like a naive nerdy guy would.

  7. The article makes it look like he took all the initiative in pursuing those girls. All they did is follow him on twitter and then he initiated contact. Thats not the same as groupies coming on to him

    • Though honestly, I’m not convinced it should be illegal for a 21 year old to get involved with a 16 year old. 15 is pushing it though

      • 16 is the age of consent in most US states, and indeed in most Western countries.

  8. I feel obliged to point out that age of consent is 16 in the majority of U.S. states. It is 18 in California, and we all know California’s reputation for sane, reasonable, just rules that benefit everyone.

    Jokah Macpherson

    April 12, 2018 at 10:01 PM

    • True, but in states where the age of consent is 16 or 17, they can still nab people with these laws against “contributing to the delinquency of a minor.”

  11. If, hypothetically, a 16 y/o male had sex two or three times a day w/ his 13 y/o girlfriend over the course of their year-long relationship, would this be taboo or creepy (or illegal)? Oh, and, say, this was during the early ’80s and the girl was the aggressor and not a virgin when the two met.

  12. Lion,

Underage children belong to their parents. No parent would approve of their 16 year old child having relations with a 21 year old man. Thankfully, social institutions still maintain this vestige of patriarchy and are willing to put legal teeth to parental logic.

It does not matter how “mature”the 16 year old is. Lolita Jones and the Middle-Aged Director is not yet one of the world’s most popular movies.
