Fakestream media going on anti-Trump rampage

with 27 comments

The title of the blog post says it. For example, the Washington Post “Analysis” headline on their homepage right now reads: “After a slap at allies, Trump showers North Korea’s authoritarian leader with flattery.”

A headline on the CNN homepage reads: “Trump says he trusts North Korean dictator, but vague promises mirror past agreements.” And Trump-hating Christiane Amanpour says she found Trump “giving away more than having got” with little concrete plans on which to move forward.

Does anyone doubt that if Obama had a summit with North Korea, the same fakestream journalists would be showering him with praise?

To be fair to the New York Times, their coverage isn’t as biased.

  1. Well, here’s a quote from a Russian analyst, who doesn’t care about Trump much one way or the other, but knows North Korea very well:

“One expert told NK News that he believed Tuesday’s agreement had “zero practical value.”

“We expected it would be a flop, but it’s floppier than anything we expected,” Andrei Lankov, a director at the Korea Risk Group – which owns and operates NK News – said. “The declaration is pretty much meaningless.”

“The Americans could have extracted serious concessions, but it was not done,” he continued. “The North Koreans will be emboldened and the U.S. got nothing.”

Since I know I am not the only Russian troll here, some of your readers might find this fairly negative assessment from the Russian press interesting:

    https://www.kommersant.ru/doc/3656672

“Опрошенные “Ъ” корейские, японские и российские эксперты оценили его как «слабый» и выразили надежду, что два других подписанных соглашения содержат больше конкретики.”

    • Какой конкретики? Can these experts be more specific? Russian press generally toes Kremlin’s line. Is Kremlin interested i’ the success of the negotiations and the loss of an ally, or on their failure? Why not just let the president do his job?

    • Just checked out the article. Pure Russian propaganda. Time will tell, however.

      • A rare case when Russian propaganda and liberal fakestream media propaganda say the same thing?

      • They have a common interest here.

      • They do have a common interest. Russia (the state) is generally rooting for Trump to fail and take America down with him. A lot of Putin fanboys on the right don’t seem to get that. I’m not sure Trump gets that.

  2. This could be a Nixon in China moment. Nixon if I am correct extracted no concessions from Mao Zedong, except to bury past grievances and form a detente. It was after Mao died that China began to go capitalist while maintaining their Maoist philosophy on the exterior.

Same thing could happen to North Korea: They maintain outwardly their Juche philosophy while beginning to normalize themselves. Actually that was starting to happen somewhat as NK was offering their exotic tours inside the country. North Koreans today, at least in the cities, also dress more like Westerners.

    • Nixon got something importsnt even before Mao died: a Chinese commitment not to intervene directly in Vietnam even if the US were to mine Haiphong, harbor which it did, subsequently.

That slowed down Soviet bloc supplies for the North Viets and got them to come to a truce agreement with the South. The US Navy then cleared the mines from the harbor.

Unfortunately, Watergate destroyed Nixon’s ability to continue supplying the South and the North Viets reneged on the truce, invading full scale shortly after Nixon”s resignation.

Had it not been for Watergate, South Vietnam would likely still be an independent country and with a standard of living converging with that of Taiwan and South Korea.

      • Watergate was completely unnecessary. Nixon was going to trounce McGovern easily. It was even apparent at the time of the break-in. But Nixon was paranoid the Democrats would have some sort of surprise ready in store. He probably couldn’t get over the fact that JFK had stolen the election from him.

      • Nixon was leading by 16 points at the time. Which isn’t safe in June; compare Dukakis’ 14-point lead in June ’88.

  3. I actually agree with the FSM on this one. TRUMP didn’t get much of anything out of the summit. I expected he would get at least something. Disappointing.

  4. ResetEra is apoplectic over the summit. I don’t know if it’s gonna lead to anything or not, but it’s a start.

    Let’s see where it goes.

By the way, I’m getting sick of right wingers acting scandalized that the Left is “rooting against America”. When Obama was President, I rooted for him to fail all the time because I knew that any success he had would make him more popular which would increase the chances of him being able to help the immigrant community. Likewise, I will root for the next Democratic President to fail in everything he does because any success he has will benefit the immigrant community.

If Trump gets a win and that helps Republicans, that has the potential to be devastating to the immigrant community. Of course the Left is going to root for Trump to fail, why wouldn’t they?

There is no “America” anymore. Just two warring tribes that want to exterminate each other.

    • This is why democracy is such a disaster for this poor country. All the subversives on both the right and the left should be sent to the Gulag indefinitely to do some useful labor for the country.

      Yakov

June 12, 2018 at EDT am

    • I rooted for Obama to fail BECAUSE he was anti-American. If any of his policies had been in American interests then I would have supported them. That there are two “tribes” trying to exterminate each other doesn’t change anything. Basically, there’s a bunch of leftwing radicals so obsessed with their insane political ideologies and social agendas that they’ve joined forces with a bunch of parasitic invaders against America. One tribe is defending their home and the other tribe is trying to conquer it. So the two “tribes” are not morally equivalent.

      • It’s not just the left. Many libertarians, the Chamber of Commerce, and much of the GOP establishment want more immigration. Market efficiency and profit is all that matters to these people.

June 12, 2018 at EDT pm

      • Agree with destructure here. It’s ridiculous to compare hoping Obama fails with anything Trump is doing since Obama’s ‘successes.” like the Paris Agreement and the Iran deal, were bad for the US.

      • Libertarians are neither for nor against more immigration. They are for due process and voluntary choice, so want a world of free trade, travel and rights as a first milestone like the US, a very different thing.

Lewis Medlock: “Many libertarians, the Chamber of Commerce, and much of the GOP establishment want more immigration. Market efficiency and profit is all that matters to these people.”

What commie garbage. The left always explains things due to ‘profit’ by which they mean the smear-word greed no matter what free people do. I’ve heard the same complaint against those on the right opposing immigration as ‘Market efficiency and profit is all that matters to these people…’

  5. They met face to face. They can size each other up. That is worth something. Christiane Amanpour wouldn’t make a pimple on Trump’s ass. I probably care more about what she thinks than he does.

  6. checkout the ResetEra thread. They are “lit”, as they say: https://www.resetera.com/threads/kim-trump-summit-thread-fire-and-fury-edition.48131/page-23

Man they are fucking pissed. This is the most pissed I’ve ever seen them. They are more pissed about this then they were about “American’s are Dreamers too”.
