Gay pastor lets loose on limousine liberals

https://www.theguardian.com/technology/2018/may/22/silicon-valley-pastor-gregory-stevens-wealth-liberals

A Silicon Valley pastor has resigned from his church after calling the city of Palo Alto an “elitist shit den of hate” and criticizing the hypocrisy of “social justice” activism in the region.

Gregory Stevens confirmed on Monday that he had stepped down from the First Baptist church of Palo Alto, an LGBT-inclusive congregation, after his personal tweets calling out the contradictions of wealthy liberals in northern California surfaced at a recent council hearing.

In emails to the Guardian, the 28-year-old minister detailed his “exasperation” with Palo Alto, a city in the heart of the technology industry, surrounded by severe income inequality and poverty.

“I believe Palo Alto is a ghetto of wealth, power, and elitist liberalism by proxy, meaning that many community members claim to want to fight for social justice issues, but that desire doesn’t translate into action,” Stevens wrote, lamenting that it was impossible for low-income people to live in the city. “The insane wealth inequality and the ignorance toward actual social justice is absolutely terrifying.”

He later added: “The tech industry is motivated by endless profit, elite status, rampant greed, and the myth that their technologies are somehow always improving the world.”

I sometimes appreciate honest non-hypocritical liberals. I like this guy a lot more than the people he rails against.

  1. It’s important to call out hypocrisy on all parts of the political spectrum, including your own. Then it’s important to call out the hypocrisy in yourself (IMO).

the ignorance toward actual social justice is absolutely terrifying.

it’s NOT ignorance. it’s FAKE ignorance.

ALL the things that conservatives hate about liberals are FAKE.

conservative vs liberal (“leftist”)…they’re both on the side of the rich and powerful…just different halves.

    • Country music can be very good. I say that as a person who has seen a lot of live music across the spectrum, and often high up on the painfully hip scale. There is nothing wrong with country music. In fact, there is nothing better for pure relaxation in my estimation. Most people who dislike it either know little about it or are still in their go indie (or metal) or go home phase.

  4. Hypocrisy: do as I SAY, not as I do.

This is the philosophy of bosses, tyrants, and rulers. One gives orders, the rest obey. That is hypocrisy.

Liberals are not “snowflakes” or weaklings; they are the ones on top; the ones with all the money, media, and power. ALL OF IT. They are ruthlessly power hungry and one of their tools is spouting “social justice” to hide their monstrousness from others and themselves.

“Social Justice” is a perfect vehicle for the rich because it absolves them of their greed AND they get to force the “racist” middle/working class to pay for/subsidize the poor and illegals.

While they get richer and whiter, they LOVE the idea of everyone else getting browner and poorer. They want a permanent brown serf class, no competition from the middle, and by God they are getting it!

    • This is too harsh. The Left today is characterized by strong levels of empathy and compassion. These lead to what might be called macro-morality, a sort of generalized concern for the poor but they are lacking in micro-morality (honesty, loyalty, integrity, self-restraint). Micro-morality requires daily sacrifice whereas macro-morality requires NO sacrifice at all.

      CamelCaseRob

June 21, 2018 at EDT am

      • Even within what you call macromoraliry there is clearly more concern for cultural liberalism and it’s designated victims than for economic liberalism and poor people. And this means that they don’t end up sacrificing much, and actually increase their wealth, while getting to look down on others on account of the social views they already had.

      • This is a great and often overlooked point by Camel Case Rob. Micro morality takes real effort to live as a decent human being. Most liberals, especially the really “nice” ones are some of the nastiest most petty human beings imaginable. Humorless bores that lack gender dimorphism. No wonder they believe in stupid shit like gender fluidity, they are a different species, which is less gender dimorphic. We should use them for food and slaves like the Eloi.

    • I’m sorry but a few silly socialites often in media are not the top one percent ruling elite. The upper middle class and upper class may have a very loud voice but that’s all. If you want to be heard above everyone else conservatives need to retake their major cities particularly Washington DC and New York. Another problem is the right won’t take over city hall and hence control police power which means enforcement power. Their silly/stupid libertarian ideology rejects state power and hence the state’s monopoly on force.

      redarmyvodka

June 22, 2018 at EDT am

    • …they don’t own all of the media. They don’t own Fox News or Sinclair Media.

Also, they are not getting whiter. They are definitely getting browner. The fact that you think they are getting “whiter” shows you know absolutely nothing about the coastal elite. There is so much intermarriage between upper class and upper middle class Whites, Jews, Asians, these cultures are converging. Even upscale South Asians these days are marrying upscale Whites/Jews/Asians.

You don’t get it. The new world order won’t be separated by race or religion. It will be separated by IQ, money, education, and social status.

  5. Blame it on proles and their frivolous behavior. Income inequality is really a myth in the sense that undesirables are inherently mal-adaptive in behavior, regardless of wealth, and the only effective way to keep them at bay is expensive real estate, because many proles refuse to learn middle class values and most are too poor to afford to live in “desirable” neighborhoods..

Therefore, good income makes good neighbors in America.

Although this is a changing, when you have celebrity proles who are now becoming instant millionaires on youtube. They will move into an expensive neighborhood and bring their undesirable traits.

  6. This reminds me of a joke from Norm Macdonald. He was hanging out with Patton Oswalt, who lamented the fall of Bill Cosby, “You know, the worst part is the hypocrisy…” Macdonald counters, “I think the worst part is the raping.”

Would it be better if these tech guys rapidly gentrified the city, didn’t attend church, cared not one iota for the poor, and competed exclusively on the basis of conspicuous consumption? Anyone with moral values is going to be hypocritical to some extent.

It’s not obvious we should be more concerned about poverty in our city than poverty in the world. I think Bill Gates’ philanthropy makes him one of the greatest human beings in history.

      • Yeah, that timing works out about right. I think his wife sincerely believes in it and probably converted him to it over time, but I bet she and others initially sold him on it on the basis of PR.

If Gates had remained single or lived a playboyish lifestyle of serial monogamy instead of tightly bonding to Melinda, he’d probably still be CEO of Microsoft and single-mindedly focused on crushing his competition and engaging in conspicuous consumption or vanity projects.

Better for MSFT shareholders (Ballmer was terrible), but probably worse for third worlders.

        1) Gates is a poster boy for the hopelessly incel, spergy nerd. Before he married his wife, the only sex Gates had, he paid for, one way or another.

        2) Gates lucked out when IBM chose DOS for it's operating system. Other than that initial coup, I can't think of a single technological feat that Gates pulled off. Yes, that coup gave him such an advantage, such a deep moat that it will still take decades to knock Microsoft out, but the day will come, especially now that the company is run by Indians.

The “coup” that was pulled off was that they never nuked their own business, which is a lot harder than you seem to think. Look into Lotus and Corel and Sun and Netscape, and many others. Company after company that could have seriously taken on MS made a series of idiotic decisions and destroyed itself. You are seriously over-weighting the head-start MS got from DOS. There is no substitute for competent and driven management.

      • I’m glad I’m not the only one who realized this about Gates. The threat to break up M$ and his newfound philanthropy was old money putting new money in its place. The same thing occurred with the Robber Barons much earlier as well. The Yale boys (New England Pilgrims, Puritans, Sons of Liberty, Patriots Skull and Bones, and Deep State) were all given lucrative and cushy jobs in technology industry related boardrooms soon afterward.

    • Most churches have lots of time during the week when they’re empty. So they rented space to a music teacher and a therapist. Neighbors said it violated residential zoning and caused traffic problems. I could see if it was a busy retail store or something. But those seem pretty unobtrusive and actually kind of dovetail with what one expects from a church. Personally, I think it was motivated by anti-religious neighbors even though the neighbors denied it.

I doubt any such creature exists, and if they do, I doubt it’s this guy. It seems the real issue here is that this guy wanted to rent out church space to music and dance groups for late night rehearsals and the city council wanted such activities to end by 7:30pm every day.

Put simply, it seems that the real issue here is money. That this gay pastor didn’t start complaining about Palo Alto hypocrisy until his share of the gravy train was threatened.

He seems like the kind of guy who would preach until he’s blue in the face about boycotting Chik-fil-a but wouldn’t think twice about filling his car up with gas from a country that executes homosexuals.

  19. Frankly, I have more respect for the people that he rails against.

For the most part, they’re living an openly hierarchical system that they openly wish to perpetuate. There’s nothing inherently wrong with that.

Traditional liberalism is about imperialism, not social justice complaints. Liberalism uses social justice rhetoric and politics to destroy systems that stand in the way of its imperialism. It uses PC politics as the imperialist software for its captured serfs and governments. That doesn’t mean that its elite is willing to destroy themselves under the heel of their own weapon. I hate them because they wish to destroy what is mine, but I respect their obvious acceptance of their seemingly hypocritical role within it.

This gay pastor, on the other hand, believes his own bullshit and is willing to warp the original core software of traditional Whitopia to do it. Christianity was never about social justice. Christ refused to heal the Canaanite woman until she demonstrated her faith in Christ as God. There is nothing in Christianity that mandates that there be a blind social justice movement, let alone one that transforms such a movement into the heart of Christian doctrine.

This pastor seemingly became a pastor to further communist social goals under a thin and fraudulent guise of Christian theology. There’s nothing more detestable.

Lion, would you be similarly supporting a faggot Rabbi who makes a fuss over the fact that the elite in Israel are not furthering social justice causes?
