Praise for Trump
The rumor is that the Trump administration had been negotiating with Kennedy for months about retiring, and there was an assurance that Kavanaugh, his former law clerk, would be picked to replace him. If this is true, a brilliant move for Trump, who gets to appoint a new Justice before elections in November.
I also praise Trump for sticking with Kavanaugh despite a campaign from both the mainstream media, and anti-abortion extremists on the right, to trick him into picking someone else.
There are complaints by some that Kavanaugh is a “Washington insider” who has close ties to the previous Republican administration. In that, Kavanaugh’s background is a lot like Antonin Scalia, who worked for the Nixon and Ford administrations, and who also served on the D.C. Circuit Court of Appeals. Kavanaugh needs to be judged on his record of conservative jurisprudence and not on who he previously worked for, which really is a plus and not a minus. Clarence Thomas was also a Washington insider. David Souter was a Washington outsider. I’m so glad that Trump wasn’t tricked into nominating Amy Coney Barrett who felt to me like a Souter except on the abortion issue.

When mainstream pundits openly talk about the widespread fraud in asylum claims, it will be time. I don’t think Americans have any idea how many ask for asylum, how many receive asylum, and how much financial assistance people granted asylum get. I don’t think they understand the basis for asylum claims. It’s always been considered rude to even discuss or suggest that there is fraud in the system.

Noone needs to commit fraud they just don’t show up for their hearings. If Trump needs to establish that he doesn’t have any ethnoreligioracial animus to invoke his authority to bar classes of aliens, he can truthfully just argue that it’s impossible to properly adjudicate claims with the current funding and regulations and that suspending asylum is the only way to avoid releasing people into the US.

Things are looking good so far. If we pick up a few Senate seats we can pass the Goodlatte Bill next year and end chain migration. In the meantime, Trump needs to turn AMLO’s election as an excuse to declare martial law at the border and put Mexico on the travel ban list. A ceremonial scrubbing of the Emma Lazarus poem from the Statue of Liberty will also be a nice touch but we will save that for his second term.

Immigrants are treated like saints in this country and probably Europe too. It seems like illegals are even more revered than legal immigrants. I am sick of them both. I do so hope you’re right g, and am very pleased you continue to post here. But the outlook for UK politics is extremely murky. In my view, the PM is so virulently pro-EU that she would be quite happy to take the government down with her if she can and see a pro-EU Labour government replace her. Also there’s no certainty at all that Boris would win a run-off (in fact I think it more likely that another Remainer such as Jeremy Hunt would win, as the parliamentary Conservative party is majority Remain). And the civil service under Olly Robins is rabidly pro-EU and anti-Trump. Installing a government and its administration machinery that respects the democratic mandate is even harder here than it has been for President Trump.

It’s unlikely should be a Souter if she clerked with Scalia. The risk with her is that, given a lack of a voting record, she could be an anti-abortion Sandra Day O’Connor.
If Trump wants a Conservative woman for Ginsburg’s seat he would be better with someone with a strongly rightist voting record like Joan Larsen.

While I admire her for having four kids of her own, and taking on three special adoptees–an in your face gesture to the sterile Left–I can’t help but think that Dianne Feinstein was right to confront her with “the dogma lives within you”. That Catholic dogma is pro-life and good on social issues, but reflects an abominable understanding of economics. My former NJ Rep Chris Smith, now in the House 38 years, is a good example of that, and the current Pope has put this “dogma” on steroids.

They could have done that but didnt. And in point of fact Obama went around promising everyone that he wasnt raising taxes.
Seeing as the Democrats had to weekend at Bernies a few of their old fossils onto the floor to get the votes they really had none to spare- so the fact that is was explicitly represented as not a tax increase was pivotal in it passing.
The Court never should have bailed the Legislature out on the tax issue since the Legislature could have remedied this any time they wanted if it was their true intention.

Also, I’m no expert on the relevant Halachic law, but since her mother’s a gentile I believe she’d first have to convert to (Orthodox) Judaism before she could convert from Judaism.

OT I do some committee work (on AI) with a friendly Oxford-educated liberal Englishman, who chairs the meetings. Inevitably, perhaps, the committee members tentatively virtue signal their liberal, establishment views of the world regarding Brexit and Donald Trump during the meetings. The chairman is known to hate Trump. So I asked him in a bilateral email why that was so. His reply, consisting of about a dozen separate points concerning Trump’s defective personality, behaviour and domestic/international policies, and the risks they posed to the world economy and international peace, was truly breathtaking in the hatred expressed. I imagine his feelings are reciprocated amongst the liberal establishment middle classes of Europe, across which he travels. I had not realised how deep the hatred is for Trump, and how any concerns for the negative effects of mass immigration from the Third World are seen as racist. (The genocidal attack on Christians in the Middle East for example is dismissed as scaremongering.) I’m sure BBC journalists for example have similar views, but they are only given full vent in private dinner parties etc. What this implies however is that we really are engaged in a life or death struggle for upholding the values of western civilisation. And there is no hope whatsoever for rational discussion with our opponents. If the other side wins in Europe, we’re finished. Fortunately, Europeans are waking up to the threat. But wresting power from the establishment is really hard, as Brexit shows.

I don’t think that Kavanaugh is gung ho about overturning Roe v. Wade, but who knows?

The CTH is a brilliant website for understanding the detail of what’s going on in US politics. The attached video is a must-see imho about how President Trump destroys the hypocritical German “free riding” policies wrt NATO and meeting its climate change obligations. A recent survey of the (cucked) German people found that they were the least willing in Europe to support a NATO ally being attacked by Russia through military assistance, and yet they expect the US people to fully fund their defence! And they promote their own economy by sourcing all their energy needs from Russia, while expecting their competitors to invest in expensive “green” energy! And Merkel and her Brussels allies are trying to make the UK a subservient nation in terms of the Brexit negotiations. She really is an evil woman.

O/t – Michael Cohen might be a prole, but any prole who lives in Midtown Manhattan and soon in Tribeca, isn’t Lion’s type of prole that he usually describes in his blog. Basically anyone who lives in Manhattan with money, doesn’t need to be labeled as a SWPL or a Prole. They all live in the same zipcodes.
The average person living in Manhattan is neither reading this blog nor Fussy’s class markers. Every young woman gets tingled by a wealthy guy who has a luxury residence in Manhattan and this is all that matters when it comes to male status.

Peter Strzok and Democrats say that the fact FBInand agencies didn’t leak Russian probe was a proof of their being impartial. I think it’s a proof they wanted Trump to commit a faux pas while they were spying on him and trying to trap him with people they had squeezed like Papadopoulos. It surely was an international operation settled by Obama. All messages of Strzok point into that direction.
