Republicans, confirm Kavanaugh now

Republicans must not reward liberals for these 11th-hour tricks, regardless of whether or not it’s true that Kavanaugh had a single incident of drunken indiscretion when he was still a minor. The same people trying to prevent Kavanugh from being nominated because they believe this liberal California college professor also believe that Juanita Broaddrick is a liar who made up her rape accusation against Bill Clinton.

The Democratic game plan is to gain control of the Senate and then leave the Supreme Court at 4-4 rather than affirm a 5-4 conservative majority. Republicans must not let that happen. A 4-4 Court wouldn’t be able to reverse anti-Trump lower court decisions.

  1. I know we are supposed to #believeallwomen, but frankly, I don’t. Particularly when:

    1. The accusation is based on recovered memories 30 years later

    2. The actual named witness denied it ever happened.

So I agree, I think the Senate should just ram this through.

      • I don’t believe any women. Actually, I don’t trust men either, but it’s only women who have unchecked power to mess up a man’s life on a whim.

    • Yeah, I recently saw a picture of myself from 30 years ago and what was interesting was that I had no recollection of having worn my hair like I was in the picture. Old memories are very unreliable even if you were sober at the time.

Anyway, my main objection is that it should not be possible for one woman to derail a man’s career simply by pointing the finger at him, without any evidence and without any cost or consequence if she is mistaken or lying. Nobody should have that kind of power, especially women.

    • – supposedly there were 4 boys present. That was what was document in the therapists notes
      – the therapist also documented that it occurred in ‘late teens’. That is incompatible her reported age with the new story.

  3. Discerning motivations is all that is needed to determine the right course of action here (not getting at the “facts” or “truth”). The motivations of the left are obvious, therefore so is the course of action for the Republicans. Confirm Kavanaugh.

  4. I started wondering recently, why is the left putting up so much more of a fight over Kavanaugh than they did over Gorsuch, when the former isn’t any “worse” (from their viewpoint) than the latter? The most likely answer is simply that Gorsuch didn’t tip the balance of the court, but Kavanaugh will. This is all political expediency. And thanks to the me-too movement, liberals now have a trump card they can play against any man, in the form of “sexual assault” accusations. And of course it’s being selectively applied; not that I like this, but probably the majority of men with an upper/upper-middle-class/prep school background have some incident in their past where they awkwardly tried to make a drunken move on a girl when they were young. For every Brett Kavanaugh who did something like this once, there’s a Merrick Garland who probably did the same thing once, but of course no one brings it up against their favored candidates, because the purpose of these accusations is not to bring a criminal to justice, it’s for the left to get its way politically. So yes, Republicans should not give into this and be cucks, they should fight back.

    • That too, but I think it’s mainly that there was a bit less Trump derangement at the beginning of his presidency. He’d earned Gorsuch.

      • The Ocasio and Capuano elections also have incumbent Democrats spooked, feeling like they need to feed the beast. I don’t think Diane Feinstein would have acted like this in any other year.

      • Probably true that there was a bit less Trump derangement, but they certainly didn’t think he’d earned Gorsuch. They kept saying “that seat belongs to Merrick Garland.”

    • “why is the left putting up so much more of a fight over Kavanaugh than they did over Gorsuch”

There are mid-terms coming up. If the GOP confirms Kavanaugh then the Dims will campaign on it. And, if they delay the vote, then the Dims are hoping to have enough seats in the election to “Bork” him and force a compromise justice to prevent conservatives from having a solid majority. The GOP should nip this in the bud and confirm Kavanaugh immediately before the left can gain momentum on this.

  5. So she was fine with a “rapist” being a Federal judge but not a SCOTUS judge? Interesting. As for Republicans playing hardball, backstabber extraordinaire Jeff Flake has already called for a delay. He wants to hear “more” from this woman. /facepalm

    • Crazy move by Flake. Some of these never Trumpers hate Trump more than they love anything else. Flake knows that Kavanaugh is likely to deliver decisions that fit with his libertarian ideology, but he would rather the seat go to a socialist than give Trump a win.

  6. She remembers the “assault” but doesn’t remember whose house it was at nor how she got home. Okay…

I’m sure something happened that spooked her but from what she described the three of them were drunk and goofing around. If they’d truly meant to harm her they would have pursued her into the bathroom and not just walked away. She claims to have PTSD from this??

    • You know, a lot of people like to believe that their current psychological problems are the result of traumatic events that happened a long time ago. This idea has been floating around in psychology for a long time. On top of that women get pokemon points for having been the “survivor” of sexual assault.

I’m speculating a bit, but I would guess what happened is there were a few drunken teenagers horsing around and this woman has retconned it into something a lot more serious; that she did this because her husband caught her cheating and the story allowed her to deflect, distract, and avoid responsibility.

    • the modern left is NOT left. it started with blair and clinton. “the third way” is code for neoliberalism + identity politics. it’s a fraud. corbyn and bernie are legit.

but because minorities are stupid demographics assure that this inauthentic left will be in power forever short of a violent revolution. europe still has a chance. the US is over unless trump goes full pinochet. for one thing, even a moratorium on all immigration and the expulsion of all non-citizens isn’t enough. there needs to be serious denaturalization.

      • Europe has a lot more Muslims. They breed like rabbits. Doesn’t seem to the case for American blacks and Hispanics.

They don’t assimilate either, but have parallel societies complete with street patrols trying to kick out non-Muslims from their territory. They’ve created colonies.

  8. ” I started wondering recently, why is the left putting up so much more of a fight over Kavanaugh than they did over Gorsuch”

My read is Kavanuagh is a mild libertarian having been mentored with Kennedy, who was mentored by Libertarian legalists. The far-left is hysterical over libertarians leading them on issues but firmly against their totalitarian agenda, and the fact that progressive leftists increasingly play ball with libertarians. The right has learned to play ball with libertarians.

I think Kavanuagh is more conservative than libertarian but at least he can spell it correctly.

  13. I don’t know if this is accurate or not. Saw it in a comment elsewhere, alleging that the woman has an ulterior motive, based on a old foreclosure case, in which Kavanagh’s mother was the judge. It might be at least worth checking. I don’t know how to check it.

        September 17, 2018 at 11:29 PM

      • maybe they wanted to appear a certain way to their base voters…these politicians are not stupid…they do and say things to manipulate voters…you implied that they WANT a conservative majority on SCOTUS…in fact, I would guess that the gop congressman do not want a gop majority in congress…they would prefer dems be the majority…and vice versa…the Dem congressmen do not want a majority…they would prefer to be in the minority…

you see, a congressman does not want to pass the populist legislation they promised the voters in order to get elected…they like being in the minority because then they can propose such populist legislation, knowing that it will go nowhere..if they were in the majority, and then they passed populist legislation (such as decreasing immigration they promised during the primary or passing the universal healthcare bill they promised), then Big Business would not make them richer (via access to IPOs, insider trading tips, or seats on corporate boards once out of office, etc (yeah, getting rich in congress is about a lot more than just political donations))…

the trick is to promise populist legislation to get into office and then not deliver so that Big Business makes you richer, either office or out of it…

same thing goes for SCOTUS–big business has everything arranged just so right now…they like the status quo…if there were real leftists or real rightwingers in a clear majority on scotus, that status quo would be upset…and so the senate is not going to want that status quo upset…congressmen posture and they pretend, but if it looks like a real ideological majority might occur, they act…see glenn greenwald’s article in salon for more details: “The Democratic Party’s deceitful game.”

I like the Muslim law or takfir. If you accuse someone of being an apostate, one of both has to die. And the burden of proof relies on the accuser . That’s why there were not many takfirites.
