The Mike Pence Rule and the young unmarried man

Mike Pence doesn’t drink in mixed company without his wife present, nor does he ever dine alone with a woman. Had Kavanaugh only followed the Mike Pence Rule.

But how does an unmarried man follow the Mike Pence Rule? It seems like a Rule destined to ensure one remain an unmarried virgin for life.

The answer is that we have to go back to the Old Ways of doing things. It used to be that unmarried men and women were never left alone together. When they went on dates, it was always in the presence of chaperones. It was only after the marriage that they could finally be alone together.

The Old Ways worked and prevented women from being raped by drunk men.

  1. You can move to any majority Muslim country and do exactly that.

It’s amazing how the people who are the most anti-Muslim also believe in gender roles that are 95% in alignment with that of Middle Eastern Muslim cultures.

    • It IS true that America is the “great Satan” if you understand America as exporting amoral/left-wing culture like feminism, pornography, and soulless corporatism/consumerism.

From this point of view, America *is* an evil thing but NOT for all the bullshit reasons that Leftist give that dominate the mainstream narrative.

    • This is a society where most people don’t know their next-door neighbor.

It hits you hard, when you say it like that, but it’s true. I thought about it and realized that of my neighbours, I only know half of them. Like, literally never met half of them.

I don’t know whether there’s anyone here who has had the experience of moving from a large city to a small town, but I can assure you that if you haven’t, it would totally rock your world. Moving to a small enough town is like going back to an age when reputation, and social shame, governed social interaction, because everyone knew everyone. It literally feels like teleporting to another time, not just another place.

Islam is the ideological opposite of feminism and vice versa. It’s hilarious how many “alt-right white nationalists” claim to be fighting both feminism and Islam at the same time. You can’t do both and expect to win.

I’ve thought about this a lot: is the enemy of my enemy my friend? I have come to the conclusion that the answer is ‘no’, and that while I admire a lot about Islam, ultimately I don’t want it here even if it does help fight the Feminist.

It’s easy to forget this in an age when we have an enervated and crippled Christianity, but in truth, a robust, inspiring Church is the solution.

      • @mike street station

By reading the Bible and Quran, you can see how many similarities there are between the two religions. A fundamentalist Christian state and a Muslim sharia state would have remarkably similar laws concerning gender roles and women:

Homosexuality and transgenderism would be banned. Women would be legally inferior to men, and have fewer civil rights. Women would be culturally obligated to obey their husbands or fathers if they are unmarried. If the Christian state would have elections at all, women would not be able to vote or run for public office.

      • Western feminists are defensive of people wearing whatever they want. It’s not the burka so much as all leftists think that there should be no laws governing how one dresses in public. Libertarians will say the same. Both progressives and libertarians would defend your right to wear a burka, a bikini, a clown suit, a gorilla suit, a t-shirt with a photo of a penis on it, a spaghetti colander, or nothing at all.

      • Not really. The polar opposite of economic Marxism is the free-market. The polar opposite of state Marxism (centralization) is Jeffersonian popular sovereignty and states rights. The polar opposite of cultural Marxism is nationalism. There is no polar opposite to Nazism and fascism, it is an hybrid of nationalism, state Marxism and anti-debt fiscal policies.

  6. One of Sailer’s regular commenters, a Jewish lawyer who signs in as “JackD,” just wrote a cautionary post intended for younger men. He noted that in 1982, Maryland’s statute of limitations for rape and other sex offenses was 1-year, but recently it’s been eliminated altogether. Other states will doubtless do the same because, “believe women!” So if you are in high school now and “grope” someone at a party, you might well be charged with criminal sexual assault in, say, 2078.

    • I’d agree to a 3 year statute of limitations on sex offenses against adults. Three years should be plenty of time for someone to decide whether or not they want to press charges. Though it should be extended to the age of 21 for someone who was a minor. That would give them 3 years after they reach adulthood to come forward.

I also think someone accused of a sex offense should have their name withheld unless they’re convicted. If rape victims have their names withheld then so should the accused until it’s proven.

  8. Are men and women happier now than before the sexual revolution destroyed the codes that had guided mating, courtship, and marriage since time immemorial? On balance, I’d say the answer is a resounding no.

    Oswald Spengler

    September 28, 2018 at 2:35 PM

    • Some men and women are happier. Namely, the top 10% in looks, money, and status. They are now not stuck with choosing a single partner for life; they can get a new partner whenever they are bored with the existing one. These are the people who run society, and they get what they want. They do not care that the result is, overall, bad for everyone else, any more than they care that their preferred economic and immigration policies (to name just two) are bad for everyone else.

  9. In the old days, people got married in their teens. There is no way that’s happening now. I know a couple Americans of Indian descent who had arranged marriages. Basically they went through college and grad school, had their fun, then told their families the time had come to settle down. Their parents found a nice bride back in India, and it was done. It’s worked out well.

Indian engineer came to HR and asked to help to choose out of three brides that parents found for him. He had three resumes of the brides. I read a post on Roosh’s forum from a guy who said he knew an Indian chick in an arranged marriage, long-distance from her husband for the time being because one of them was in grad school or something, who was slutting it up behind her husband’s back. This beta Indian schlub was dutifully sending his loving princess money every month, which she was using to go to nightclubs and get picked up by one Chad after another.

Teenagers should enter the adult world, learn and work with adults, and marry and have kids YOUNG. Whites should have kids when they are healthy, young, and beautiful. Not in their 30s is a desperate rush before the door closes.

For this not to be the norm, is a horrendous waste. It’s damaging young people, and damaged youth is a destroyed adult.

I assume this means you’re not serious about this post, but if that’s the case, what do you believe about this topic?

Even if you’re not serious, I think it’s true that the answer is to go back to the old ways of doing things. But part of the problem is that we can’t convince people traditional morality is good when the cultural left controls the media. The cultural left thinks that the Old Ways, far from preventing women from being raped by drunk men, are the very thing that causes women to be raped by drunk men. They think phenomena like a “boys will be boys” attitude and not believing women are endemic to traditional morality, so under the old ways, men just raped women with impunity, threatening them with “if you tell anyone, they’ll never believe you.”
