No more green pants for Republicans

with 38 comments

This isn’t your father’s GOP. This is the party of Trump. The GOP has gone from a party of guys wearing green pants with a yellow shirt, going golfing at the country club with Muffie and Chip, to a party of brawlers, head-bangers and New York street fighters.

      • “Just go to Brooks Brothers and ask them to pick you out some nice clotheses.”

An expensive way of doing things, but they will pick upper-class clothes for you. But if you know what you are looking for, and go to Macy’s (which sells everything from upper-class look-alike to guido clothes) when they have a sale, you could save a lot of money.

      • Good advice – so, first go to BB and get the good stuff, then go to Macy’s & buy the off-label lookalikes.
You should start a blog: How to think Yiddish and look British.

    • That stunt had actually been planned long before the controversy to counter the (Trump only picks men for the Court accusation) and you can’t really change course after people had been privately approached and accepted. One of the broads was an officer in the Federalist Society Chapter at her school so it probably isn’t as bad as it sounds, and remember, Supreme Court Clerks only serve a single court terms so he’ll have a new, normal crew of clerks in next year.

      • The SC is a place for stunts? These are actions of a moron. He is nothing but disgusting. Only an idiot can think that excluding men will win him anything but contempt.

‘Supreme Court Clerks only serve a single court terms so he’ll have a new, normal crew of clerks in next year.’

Says who? He is more likely to hire only minorities next year. A year after? Homo and trannies. This guy is a trailblazing moron.

      • Like it or not, most lawyers ARE women. So it seems foolish to abandon the profession to the feminist radicals while leaving conservative women out in the cold. Promoting conservative women is the smartest thing he could have done. It undermines the left’s men vs women strategy. Besides, I don’t believe in men vs women. Men and women should be on the same side when it comes to fighting the leftist vermin.

  3. i have lots of relatives in the Muffy and Chip group. They detest Trump and have gone enthusiastically Democratic. it is deeply disturbing to them to associate with guys who own RV’s, hunt, go to Fundamentalist churches and love NASCAR.

Most of American politics is about status-seeking by white people. The old WASPS who are now Democrats would much rather be in a party that includes blacks than one that includes working class whites.

    amused observer

October 8, 2018 at EDT pm

    • indeed. hating trump is not hating trump. it’s classism…or rather snobbery…by those who are insecure about their own class. it’s hating bad whites. the same goes for the racism, homophobia, islamophobia, etc. scam.

rich people who vote democrat want to feel good about themselves without actually giving away their money or paying their employees more. they do this via “racism bad”, “homophobia bad”, etc.

but all this amounts to is “i hate poor white people…because deep down i’m afraid i might’ve been like them.”

      the rebel yell

      • Yes. They don’t have to distance themselves from poor blacks, because they could never be a poor black. The do have to distance themselves from working class whites, because they all had ancestors who were working class white farmers, and they probably still have a cousin who’s a blue collar worker.

Class anxiety happens when your place in the class you want to be in is not assured.

My father said he looked through alumni directory for the college he went to as an undergraduate. He said that people who gave their contact information to the school had a choice to list their profession, or not to list their profession. He said (paraphrasing here) that everyone who listed their profession had decided they were successful, and everyone who didn’t list their profession knew that they weren’t successful, and didn’t want people to know what they were doing.

Think of how smug and hostile the stereotypical college educated barista gets when they think about working class Trump voters. When you drop all the posturing and signaling, ask yourself what the difference between a barista and a truck stop waitress is.

And yes there are fabulously wealthy white people who are billionaires. If you trace their family trees, I bet you run across lots of working class white relatives long before you run into poor blacks.

“You’re so ambitious, aren’t you? You know what you look like to me, with your good bag and your cheap shoes? You look like a rube. A well-scrubbed, hustling rube, with a little taste. Good nutrition has given you some length of bone, but you’re not more than one generation from poor white trash, are you, Agent Starling? And that accent you’ve tried so desperately to shed? Pure West Virginia. What’d your daddy do, was he a coal miner?! Does he stink of the lamp? Oh and how quickly the boys found you …all those sticky, tedious fumblings in the back seats of cars …while you could only dream of getting out …getting anywhere … getting all the way to the FBI.”

  4. Republican are mildly entering the culture war and thinking a little about the white average interest. It is a counter culture of critique. That’s why it is violent. Ann Coulter and Hannity reflect the ideological change. From Bushiest wanting to privatize jails, import workers, destroy social benefits, go to war with the world and eat liberty fries. From anarcho-capitalism to populism. It’s sad the Bill O Reilly who was the unique populist on Fox since ever is out !

    He came too soon.

    • How exactly are Trump’s Republicans ‘violent’? Don’t buy into the media myth. According to CNN vigourously denying you raped someone or ejecting protestors from a lawful political rally are violent acts, in truth almost all the supposed political violence of of the Right is non-violent self defence in the face of extreme provocation.

Actual political violence from Antifa and LGBTetc groups goes unremarked outside of fringe right wing blogs.

  6. Depends on geography. Muffies and Chips in red states now overwhelmingly support Trump. Old liberal wasps in NY and San Fran are now Democrats but they will be irrelevant soon because they don’t reproduce. As Trumpism gains ground it will cultivate a new generation of conservative white elites. Status always follows power and as the right grows in influence it will attract new adherents. Within the next decade the Democrat will be completely transformed Into the party of brown people. When that happens it will lose its status. Remember that liberal institutions only confer status when they are led by rich whites. As those liberal baby boomer whites die off and become replaced by minorities they will lose status. Trumpism will create a new cavalier class of rich whites who will advocate for the interests of white people. That is how it was all throughout history. The last sixty years was a historical anomaly that is coming to an end.

  7. Heard driving to work today, on the local classic rock station, among the inane comedic small talk of the radio morning show personalities, a moment of clarity that made me smile: “Innocent until proven Republican!” This of course is mainstream white prole radio. SWPL’s have SiriusXM. One can only hope a few poor feminist baristas or soy boy hipsters were listening. Lol.

  8. Strange piece, not really qualifying as journalism, since the Kavanaugh win involved no brawling at all, but rather finesse, right? I mean, everyone was criticizing the Arizona cross-examiner for being insufficiently aggressive. The green pants country club types are actually the neo-lib, invade-the-world/cheap labor lobby, even if their membership includes Geoege Schultz and Chuck Schwab, right? Actually, a few years ago at that club I did see a guy in apple-green pants coming down the fairway, and asked him (through the fence) where I could get some pants like that. He answered, “you can’t.”
