Nikki Haley resigns?

https://www.axios.com/donald-trump-nikki-haley-resignation-d25b64a9-264e-483a-a79b-ae8a48e367db.html

Now I think it’s more likely that she’s the one who wrote the anonymous op-ed and maybe I was wrong about Mike Pompeo.

  1. Could be she is preparing for a Presidential run.

I always thought she was an odd fit. She was a neo-con never Trumper, and as far as I know, never made peace with the Trump nomination. Then, yada yada yada, she’s the UN ambassador.

    • She was a good spokesperson. Maybe I didn’t agree w/what she said but she read the script.

And damn, I never saw a more European looking Indian. She could easily be Italian or French.

      • British Tory MP Priti Patel is even whiter.

      • And in my experience white+Indian halfsies often look so white they could easily pass for Irish or Scandinavian. The opposite of most white+blacks and white+Asians (which makes sense b/c Indians are Caucasian, if not white). But both Haley and Patel are 100% Indian.

      • And that said there are totally white-looking white+blacks (Rashida Jones) and white+Asians (Darren Criss) but they’re very much the exception and they still have some features clearly inherited from the nonwhite parent, which is not the case with some white+Indians I know.

      • > Indians are Caucasian

Indians are varying admixtures of Aryan + Dravidian hybridization. The caste hierarchy is basically a measure of this. The northern high caste ones are basically indistinguishable from Persians. The southern dravidians look totally different.

      • Yeah. She’s a Punjabi Sikh and presumably mostly Aryan – but still, even few of those are as Euro looking as she is.

BTW, I think Otis is off bemoaning Taylor Swift’s “coming out” as a woke Democrat.

October 9, 2018 at EST pm

      • Dravidians have dark skin, but they don’t otherwise look “totally different” — if you took plaster casts of their faces, it would not be possible to reliably or with a high degree of confidence distinguish them from high-caste Northern Indians or even from white Europeans, whereas any of those three groups could be reliably and with a high degree of confidence be distinguished from Bantus, Pygmies, Bushmen, East Asians, indigenous Americans, Arctic hunter-gatherers, Polynesians or Australian Aboriginals. In other words they’re still Caucasian.

      • For all of those who are wondering about South Asians and genetcs, they are, at the aggregate level, 50% Caucasian and 50% Australoid.

The genes for Australoid dark skin are different from the genes for African dark skin. This is why even quadroons look very African yet people who are 1/4 Australoid 3/4 Caucasian look totally Caucasian.

People from northern India and Pakistan are obviously more than 50% Caucasian.

      • OK, u r talking about Priti Patel? She’s Indian looking to me, in feature and skin color. But not Haley. It’s not just her skin color. It’s her features. They are more classically European than Annette Funicello, Madonna, or Sophia Loren before those three ladies had plastic surgery. And all of them did, including Sophia, who was a great beauty.

      • Tight close up of Haley’s face, without lipstick and a heavy application of foundation, which all actresses wear. Also, lighting of pics of actresses lightens skin and bleaches out all imperfections. If I didn’t know who she was, I’d say this was a very attractive early middle-aged white woman. Hell, even Demi Moore is darker. (Moore is a pixie-ish dark Celt.)

      • When I answered destructure I had not seen the pic of Patel – I was answering via the WordPress notifications (that little bell thingie in the upper right corner).

I don’t agree that she is more Euro looking than Haley. I think she’s classically Gujurati. Very good features but certainly not European.

Indians are an interesting mix. Some of them have very dark skin and totally European features. Some have lighter skin and features that are simply very Indian. I see Patel as in that category. Nikki Haley to me looks like a French woman. Perhaps if I saw her in person I’d notice a slightly darker skin tone but in photos she is no more Indian looking than Monica Belluci.

  2. Lion, it’s clear that Drumpf is setting her to run for president. Haley is the Republican trump card.

Now if Kamala Harris runs for the Democrats, there is 75% chance the next president of the us is an South Asian. Head will explode from Republican side.

      • You don’t get it. Trump isn’t an actual foaming-at-the-mouth racist. He’s politically incorrect, but not a hateful guy. He doesn’t want to mass murder the blacks. He, and many within the Republican party are just using racism, traditional gender roles, and homophobia as a way to get votes from people like you.

The only real goal of the Republican party is to secure tax breaks and government subsidies for the top 0.1%. Everything else is just a means to that end.

    • There is no setup for a presidential run.

She probably came out a as critic of Brett Kavanaugh or there is some kind of ethics violation in her background, maybe involving private jets.

The point of her ambassadorship was to get her out of domestic politics and to annoy the UN. She has done both.

      • I agree, Trump is currently polling at 51%. That’s why the msm stopped talking about his approval rating. And his approval among the Republican base is off the charts, I read that at one of his rallies, people were lined up for over two miles to see him. He’s a rock star. Of course, the establishment still hates him. But the establishment hated Reagan, too. In years to come, they’ll claim they like him and always liked him. Just like Oceania is at war with Eurasia. They have always been at war with Eurasia.

  9. She didn’t write the anonymous op-ed. Seriously no way. And yeah, she is running for president, if not in 2020 then 2024. If it wasn’t a complete fabrication, then the anonymous op-ed came from a relative nobody, and not a high level person as stated by the NYT.

October 9, 2018 at EST pm

      • It might be a name we recognize, but it was almost certainly not a politician.

Politicians, generally speaking, are people who have been selected for their ability to self-promote and advance, not people with deeply rooted beliefs for which they are prepared to quietly endanger their careers for little gain.

Politicians are the opposite of the sort of people who donate generously and anonymously to church (per Matthew 6). They are the kind of people who like to have their names on bridges and roads that other people paid for.

  12. Isn’t the most likely explanation not that she is running for President but that she has decided NOT to run for President? Haley took UN job to serve as stalking horse for Neocon’s planned 2020 Primary Challenge. But Kavanaugh Hearing made clear to even the most delusional Never Trumpers that primary challenge would be futile. With that off table, why would Haley stay in largely symbolic and (relatively) low paying UN Post when she can make millions in private sector?

October 9, 2018 at EST pm

  13. She was always my #1 suspect for writing the NY Times letter and the resignation makes it all the more possible. It seems the majority of Trump supporters have no memory of how intensely anti-Trump she was during the 2016 election season, especiallly the primaries.

    Jay Fink

October 9, 2018 at EST pm

    • Just because she was rabidly anti-Trump during the campaign doesn’t mean she still is. She didn’t even know him during the campaign All she knew was his fiery rhetoric, That changed after the election. First, she was offered a UN ambassadorship where she worked for Trump for nearly two years. And, second, he’s been much more successful and become much more popular than anyone ever imagined. The economy is through the roof, unemployment is at a 50 year low and the world takes America seriously again even if they still hate us. Success like that leads to a change of heart. Moreover, being on someone’s team while under siege has a tendency to bring people together as well.

She strikes me as loyal as well as having a genuine relationship with Trump. I believe she was there to do an honest job for America and the president. Not trying to undermine him.

    https://thehill.com/homenews/administration/410443-government-watchdog-calls-for-investigation-into-haley-accepting-free
A government watchdog group on Monday called for an investigation into whether U.S. Ambassador to the United Nations Nikki Haley violated federal ethics regulations by accepting flights on private planes.

Citizens for Responsibility and Ethics in Washington (CREW) sent a letter formally requesting the State Department’s inspector general investigate the flights, which Haley acknowledged in her 2017 public financial disclosure report.

The seven free flights were between New York, Washington, D.C., and three cities in the former governor’s home state of South Carolina.

CREW wrote in a statement that the total value of the flights in unknown but estimates they were worth tens of thousands of dollars.
