Harry Chapin – Corey’s Coming (extended live version)

Wow, I didn’t know this extended version of the song existed. This makes it clear that Corey isn’t a real person. I think she’s some sort of supernatural apparition. (The other alternative is that she’s a delusion shared by both John Joseph and the person telling the story who has gone crazy himself from listening to a crazy man’s stories.)

Perhaps she’s like a Houri? (Based on a Google search, I’m the first person in the history of the internet to make that connection.)

  1. You must have owned the album this song is on because most people think of Cats in the Cradle or Taxi when they think of this fellow.

I just read his wiki which is pretty weird, he died in a car accident where he was partially responsible; kind of odd for the guy known for the song Taxi. Also says he was driving a ‘75 VW Rabbit (total crap car — rock stars drive Rabbits?) and it sounds like he fell asleep at the wheel. He was driving with a revoked license.

Wiki says Chapin is credited with being the most politically and socially active American performer of the 1970s, which sounds weird given all of Joan Baez’s virtue signaling, Stevie Wonder’s por ghetto kid songs and John Denver’s environmentalism. When I think of Chapin I think of Taxi, perhaps the greatest hypergamy song of all time.

  2. This is an interesting read

It shows how conservatism is dying and is racist
