Some other good shopping deals

I already mentioned that you can get an iPad this weekend for $249.

Walmart: The boardgame Settlers of Catan for $26. Normally sells for $40-something at Amazon.

Anywhere this camera is sold (including BH Photo and Amazon): The Panasonic GX85 camera with two lenses for $499 (half price!).

Macy’s: A Dyson canister vacuum for $199 (normally $500!!)

Any other good deals, please add in the comments.

  2. Settlers of Catan is overrated. It’s fun, but Ticket to Ride or Dominion are better family friendly board games. Carcassonne too. Americans seem to really into Catan, was it some sort of cultural thing, the first eurogame to make it big or something?

  3. I understand there’s a slightly (or not so slightly) used Estonian actress newly on the market and looking for a sugar daddy. Past benefactor had a somewhat inflated reputation. Reduced price. All offers will be considered.

    • I think that may have been a set-up, but it couldn’t have happened to a nicer creepy porn lawyer!

    • I appreciated that, even if no-one else did.

    • Install AdGuard, free add-blocker and tracking blocker for mobile Safari. It’s like the Ublock Origin of mobile!

      • many thanks, as i am not familiar w/ iOS.

opera mini builds an encrypted vpn tunnel to their servers, to get around ip blocking and isp logging.

sadly they teamed up w/ google, and are owned by a chinese consortium.

        still useful sometimes, though.

        sorry for wandering ot

  5. The wrath of God be upon ye for acquisitiveness!

I bought a toy point-and-shoot because of the excellent Zeiss lens on Amazon, and it came with an adapter that had prongs for a European outlet!!!!!!

    Can you believe this?????

I didn’t like the camera anyway – too small — and I will save my pennies for a bigger, better one. I have my eye on the Sony RX100, which is a point & shoot with a Zeiss. So it was all good. But the inefficiency of Amazon shocked me. Last I heard, NYC was still in the US.

  6. Isn’t looking for a deal prole & doesn’t everything still cost a nickel?

  7. Here’s another money-saving tip.

Capital one is offering a credit card where if you spend 500 bucks the first 3 months you will get $150 back. I applied for it and got it. I don’t usually fall for these things, because I think that they are basically incentives to mindless consumerism, but I do intend to buy the Sony RX100 which will cost me close to four hundred bucks. Since I was going to buy that anyway, I might as well get $150 back.

    • Wow, tgat sounds too good to be true. Have you been able to find any catch?

    • Chase has deals like this but even bigger: $500-800 for spending $5000 in 3 months. Don’t spend that much? Google “manufactured spend” for tips. Chase also routinely has $300 for opening a checking account and $200 for a savings account as long as you put in a few thousand and set up a direct deposit.

I also got 50,000 miles for opening a fidelity account. Used it to buy a plane ticket that would have been $1100.
