The Florida prostitution news story

The NY Times:

“I would never consider them prostitutes — it was really a rescue operation,” the sheriff said, training his anger at the men whose demand for sex kept the massage parlors in business. “The monsters are the men,” he added.

  2. In this case, the sheriff might have a point, but I see a dangerous trend of people claiming that all prostitutes are victims and that their customers are sex offenders taking advantage of desperate women who are forced by circumstance or coercive men to sell their bodies. (I’ve never visited a hooker and wouldn’t, FYI). This ties in, of course, with the sex trafficking moral panic that’s all the rage these days; it’s kind of like the Satanic Ritual Abuse phenomenon.

    • I’m quite skeptical of this “sex trafficking” thing. Does anyone around here know what the real deal is? Does it have any basis in reality? Why would any girl over the age of, say, eight, not be able to just run away an call for help? Are we supposed to believe “sex traffickers” are kidnapping women and keeping them chained up 24/7 in secret brothels where they never again see the light of day?

      • Women are never* held accountable for their actions. It’s a fact of human existence that sensible societies acknowledge and take into account for purposes of handling how women are permitted to function.

        * It’s not never, but it’s close enough to never that we can get there without stretching.

      • Because there is only one exit and it is guarded by Dmitry, the same Dmitry that his brother Ivan is still in the girl hometown and will rape her mother, kill her father and confiscate their house if she is not going to repay him the money she owes him for providing her this “modelling” job abroad. If she did manage somehow to get away she will be with no passport, either deported and then dealt with in her home country or dealt with in jail, she will never talk. Her only way to get out is that some sucker will pay for her the full price based on her looks and the number of years she could have worked.
The only countries where this shit doesn’t happen is where prostitution is legal, but even there it is not perfect because there is always a stream of illegals who will do the job for cheaper and those are being taken advantage of.

      • [not just run away]

They’re told their families back home will be harmed if they run. And since many are working as indentured servants to pay off being smuggled in they risk being hunted down mob style. Many barely speak english and obviously have no means of transportation.

I understand your skepticism but these massage parlors are everywhere and staffed by young foreign women usually asian and mexican. Who knows how many knew what they were getting into or how many men it would actually involve sleeping with.

      • Okay, but granting the point about illegal aliens, part of the moral panic is that even American women are being “trafficked” right out of middle-class suburbs. The Department of Homeland Security has a website about this, listing as “myths,” among other things, the ideas that “Human trafficking does not occur in the United States. It only happens in other countries.” and “Human trafficking victims are only foreign born individuals and those who are poor.” What gives?

There is no intercourse in these places; they’re known as “jack shacks.” I went to one once once over 20 years ago and was massaged by an Asian woman. The lotion she used gave me a horrible rash that lasted for five days.

      • It’s like the domestic violence thing. Some basis in reality, despite the fact that “you’d think” the women would just run away. When men are violent, a lot of women just submit out of instinct. But there’s a lot of bullshit too. What commonly happens is that the women are asked whether they were forced to be prostitutes, in which they’ll be treated as victims, or whether they were there voluntarily, in which they’ll be charged with a crime. Naturally, they claim the former, but by the time the actual trial comes around, evidence is provided that they were in fact there voluntarily. The media never learns its lesson, moving on to the next outrage.

For that to happen, the girl would have to know that what was happening wasn’t normal. We’re talking about people who grew up in an entirely different culture. There are cultures in this world in which women are essentially considered livestock (though I don’t think that’s the case in China).

“the hooker involved in a majority of the encounters is 58 years old”

Got into a discussion about retirement with an Asian co-worker and discovered she was about 20 years older than I thought she was. Some people age pretty well, especially if they’ve taken care of their skin and stuck with a healthy diet.

      • No, being a John should not be harshly punished, or punished at all. If prostitution were legal we wouldn’t have the problem of human trafficking for prostitution, at least.

As for a woman getting no assets in a divorce, that does not sound like justice to me. Women are supposed to contribute to a marriage, and you can’t assume by default that no woman does. That is obtuse. Maybe your ex-wife was useless and you hate her for it, but you aren’t the measuring stick for society.

But 500 years ago they really had it figured out. Brothels were called stews and they were operated in a specific part of town controlled by the Church. In London this was across the Thames River in a place today called Southwark. The theory was that such things were inevitable and revenues from it should support charity. Then the Protestants (16th century SJWs) showed up in the scene.

Why are journalists so lazy and horrible at their jobs? Was there a state wide operation? Was the FBI or a Chinese consulate involved? Did these two counties coordinate on some level? I now have no idea what actually happened in what jurisdiction because all three articles I glanced at are totally at odds and disjoint.

  9. If Kraft had only gotten just a massage without a happy end, he would have still used slave labor, but there seems to be something especially sinful about paying for sex. Things like confiscating passport, working seven days a week, sleeping where you work, paying off for the human traffickers happen also for restaurant workers and such. Customer’s buying cheap asian food from restaurants using “slave labor” are not prosecuted for the poor conditions of the workers, but those buying sex are.

Sex is special and intimate, and there can be reasons for criminalizing buying sex. But when prosecuting it should be held separate from the working conditions of the sex workers if the buyer can’t know. Or maybe you can assume racistly that an asian woman selling sex is trafficked, but a white woman is not. But then you should also assume that cheap asian restaurant is using trafficked labor with poor working conditions as well.

He could head down to the local strip club and once the girls there found out he was rich they would be swarming all over him. He could spend a couple thousand for sex with some hot 21 year old stripper outside the club with little chance of getting caught. I think these rich guys just do this type of thing for the thrill of doing something potentially dangerous. I’ve always thought prostitution should be legal and that if it was legal it would lose a lot of it’s forbidden fruit appeal and a lot of the current customers would move on to something else.

The notion of prostitution as an economic transaction between consenting adults has a nice libertarian ring to it, but, in reality it leads to a very dark, seedy world that needs to be wiped out. It’s a very short step from Asian massage to under-age girls, especially for the well-connected.

Chinese girls were shipped over and placed in a cell with a window facing the street. Men would pay the proprietor and have sex with the girls for a nominal fee. Food was brought in and human waste removed by attendants. The girls remained there until they died or became so ill they were slaughtered by the proprietor. Nothing changed until church ladies arrived in SF and forced the issue.

Use the law to confine open prostitution to certain areas and keep it on the down low everywhere else as is done in Thailand and the Philippines. The problem in America is not the law but the way it is enforced and that mostly boils down to the corrosive influence of Feminism. In countries run by men a situation like this would have been handled far more sensibly and beta male attitudes expressed by that White Knight cop would be laughed at.

Aside from massage services and minimum wage dead-end jobs, these workers are unemployable.

  25. Another installment in the series Cute Girls and Big Guns. In this episode, a reasonably cute chick shoots a 300 Weatherby Magnum, a grunting beast of a cartridge that *very* few shooters would touch with the proverbial ten-foot pole. Spoiler alert: it doesn’t go well for the chick.

  26. Who the hell pays for sex?

Pro tip: women eagerly give it away for free if you keep your body in shape and behave reasonably normalsauce. Of course they typically fall in love and expect commitment, they do get a little needy, so I guess prostitutes let you avoid that mess, but…… seriously, whores are disgusting.

    • Who the hell pays for sex?

No one; you pay them to leave afterwards.

    • What women give you for free is not as good in quality and quantity.
