Who is Mony Preap?

He’s one of the litigants in the Supreme Court decision released today.

People who are arguing for sympathetic enforcement of our immigration laws say that it’s not fair to deport him back to Cambodia for the minor crime of possession of marijuana. Didn’t Obama smoke some joints? Everybody does it!

However, this guy was convicted TWICE for possession of marijuana and went to prison twice. This is pretty unusual and indicates to me that there were more circumstances than him just being a mere user of marijuana. And then, several years later, he goes to prison again for the crime of “battery.” I presume that means he beat someone up.

So this guy is not a law-abiding citizen. I’ve never been to prison once, but this guy has been convicted and sentenced to prison THREE times.

As a “permanent resident” and not a U.S. citizen, his stay in our country is subject to his good behavior. He should have known that and been more law abiding. Especially after going to prison the first time, he should have had a wake-up call.

  1. It’s become a talking point on a certain segment of the left that the evil racist USA has a gazillion people mass incarcerated solely for the crime of possessing marijuana. I have no idea what basis that has in reality, but it is something they believe and talk about.

    • That’s one of the lies that liberals like to tell. In reality, most of these people are drug dealers. But prosecutors don’t want to waste time and resources on drug dealers when they have so many violent criminals to prosecute. So they offer to reduce the charge to possession in exchange for a guilty plea. The dealers get convicted of a lesser charge. But they still go to prison which never happens in a real possession. A real possession gets a fine and probation.

      • Interesting. I knew there had to be an explanation. As a psychiatrist, I ask every new patient about their legal history, and their drug use. Although many people are sheepish, plenty are forthcoming when they know it’s in the privacy of a doctor’s office. And while people have had all sorts of stories to tell, no one has ever told me they spent time in prison solely for possessing marijuana.

  2. This leads to an interesting question.

Democrats want open borders. In a country with open borders, should there be any deportations at all?
The answer seems to be no because a deported person would be free to return.

  4. The grandson of the legendary Mony Postap, who Tommy James wrote a song about (“Mony Mony”) that Billy Idol famously covered. Don’t you know anything?

  5. Anarchotyranny.

What has your govt ever done for you, law abiding citizen who takes care of himself? Nothing, not even a stick of gum. You will be punished to full extent of the law if u should ever run afoul.

What does it do for criminals, illegals, indigent, welfare scammers? A helluva lot. They are punished lightly, if at all.

    • Around ’06 I was on a BART train going through Oakland when 3 black guys started rolling blunts. Might not gave even been illegal, but It offended me so I walked down 3 cars where I found a cop, a white guy with one of those Jersey Italian names – I think it rhymed with “Capone.” He goes, “show me,” so I walked him down the platform to my original car, pointed in the window, and said, “them.” He then demands to see MY I.D. I tell I’d rather not, and he says, “if you don’t show me I.D. I’ll arrest you.”

  6. In 2017 the media ran a bunch of sob stories about innocent kids being deported. But if you googled the story you would learn that usually the “kid” was a young male that repeatedly broke the law and has been gaming the system.
