Dysgenic fertility, the biggest problem facing mankind

While liberals go crazy about catastrophic global warming, which is fake science, the real catastrophe for mankind will be dysgenic fertility.

(1) Global IQ is falling because people with higher IQs have fewer children. How long before our average intelligence becomes too low to maintain our technology, and everything falls apart?

(2) Beta-male genes are being culled. I think this is an even bigger problem than declining IQ, because it’s happening more quickly. When society moves from system of monogamous marriage to single motherhood, what happens is that a disproportionate number of children are fathered by alpha-males. Despite the worship of alphaness in some parts of the non-establishment right, civilization is built by beta males and not by alpha males. Beta males create value, alpha males are value transferors.

At least this is a problem in the West. In Japan, monogamous marriage is still strong, even though their population is declining and they are probably suffering just as much dysgenic fertility for IQ as the West.

Western countries, where the trend it to allow out-of-control immigration from lower-IQ countries, will probably collapse within a century.

  1. Good summary, though the other dysgenic factor, not to be ignored, is “relaxed selection” enabled by modern healthcare.

All sorts of kids who would have died as sickly infants are now able to survive and reproduce. Overall, I think this is a good thing. But poor infant health is correlated with high mutational load and low IQ.

In other words, even if high IQ people were reproducing at the same rate as low IQ, the gene pool would still be deteriorating due to modern societies’ extremely low infant mortality. You need high IQ people to out-reproduce low IQ just to keep steady.

      • Possible, but I’m skeptical. Technological progress has slowed and continues to slow, as problems become harder to solve while the resources available to solve them are diminishing (due to both dysgenics and institutional breakdown, e.g. the SJWification of universities).

Also, people resist in vitro fertilization and have a strong preference towards producing children the old-fashioned way. And it’s costly.

  2. Dysgenic fertility is a crisis that looks to break the back of civilization.

Lack of beta males, meh. Because of birth control, cads who have sex with a lot of women have few children, while men with low notch counts have more than those who are promiscuous. Audacious Epigone has shown this with extensive data.

    April 1, 2019 at 12:19 PM

    • This appears to be true (at least in the U.S.), though I think the story is more nuanced. Betas with low partner counts have always fathered most of the children in civilized places, but I would suspect the character who fathers 20 children among 20 women is much more common than he used to be.

So, on the margin, those sorts of characters are fathering more children, especially within certain niches of society. And they might continue to father more.

Or, putting it together, fertility will eventually be dominated by two family forms. Religious, tightly monogamous couples in early lifelong marriages, and low-IQ welfare recipients with matrilocal arrangements and very little paternal investment.

      • I wouldn’t believe some Lothario fathered 20 kids with 20 women until I saw the paternity tests. Because the kind of women they’re banging are also banging lots of other guys. Probably only a couple of the kids are actually theirs. But the guys claim them either for the “bragging rights” or to be nice.

BB King was alleged to father 15 children with several different women. He never disputed it and accepted them as his own even paying for their college and leaving them trust funds. Yet neither of his marriages produced children and doctors said his sperm count was too low to conceive children. Basically, he “adopted” fatherless children because he was nice and didn’t have any of his own. I’m not saying that’s always the case. But I’ve read other stories like that over the years.

      • That BB King trivia reminds me of a joke. Do you know how women define “bad husband”? A man who doesn’t tell his wife he’s sterile until after she’s pregnant!

There’s more truth in that joke than people realize. Because most women will find a way to take the woman’s side regardless of circumstances. For example, if a man cheats on his wife they will say he’s a jerk. But if a woman cheats on her husband they will say it was because he was a jerk. The only time most women will side against another woman is out of jealousy or competition.

  3. why do you think this is going to be so much of a problem? an enormous shift downward in genotypic IQ is going to take hundreds of years. gene editing will likely be available long before there’s too few smart people around to sustain a first world society. if it isn’t society will likely have collapsed in on itself due to the peak-energy crowd turning out to be right, and we’ll have worse problems than just fewer smart people around.

    • “why do you think this is going to be so much of a problem? an enormous shift downward in genotypic IQ is going to take hundreds of years. ”

The fertility of Germans and South Koreans is something on the order of 1 child per woman. The fertility of many Sub Saharan Africans is something like 6 children per woman.

This leads to a shift in the relative proportion of the highest IQ populations versus the lowest IQ populations of a factor of 36 in sixty years (2 generations), or 216 in 90 years (3 generations).

If you think that is not cataclysmic for modern economies, you have completely lost the plot. Even if the shifts are less dramatic due to famine or eventual birth control in poor countries, the changes in proportions will still be tens of times at least.

You need concentrations of bright people and network effects to achieve the incredible technological advances we have seen. Bright people in a sea of dullards don’t have the ecosystem for technological advance.

The equalist left may win political power in the West but they will be sorry they did. Their prize may be to preside over decline that they cannot stop. What if Trump now presides over THE civilizational peak? If this is the civilizational peak, and if the modern civilization is the highest civilization that is reached, and if (as SETI indicates so far) we are alone in the universe, then we have the likely situation that Donald Trump stands atop the peak of civilization of all of time and space. Maybe those who called him God Emperor Trump were on to something.

In terms of future demographics, the only thing that really matters is groups like the Amish, the Hasidic Jews, the FLDS, etc. Insulated groups with crazy high fertility.

If you want to see a vision of the future, imagine men with black hats and beards; women in long skirts and dresses. I myself enjoy secular culture, but I hope I live long enough to see feminism and other kinds of SJWism get crushed by a resurgence of Patriarchy.

Add to that the broad-based decline in testosterone and sperm counts, and men will continue to act more and more domesticated and monogamous.

Infertility will slowly become the default and you will have to be a clever striver to hack your way into parenthood.

There is constant back and forth between sex-positive feminists and sex-negative feminists. But it doesn’t really matter because for them, the debate is between (1) women spending their most fertile years pursuing education and career; and (2) women spending their most fertile years pursuing education, career, and the cock carousel.

There are no feminists who support the idea of women marrying young and focusing their best energies on bearing and raising large numbers of children. Which is why — absent some game-changing technology — feminism will be crushed by a tide of Patriarchy.

Marrying before 30 or at least 25 is a horrible idea, both for men and women. If you want to have stable, long marriage at least.

Men and women at 18 – 25 will undergo quite a bit of change and a decade later will look back and not even recognize their spouses.

      • “Marrying before 30 or at least 25 is a horrible idea, both for men and women. If you want to have stable, long marriage at least. ”

I would have to disagree. IME the main ingredients in stable long marriages are (1) social pressure to stay married and work on things rather than call it quits; and (2) social pressure to choose marriage partners based more on shared values and less on raw sexual attraction.

That said, you are changing the subject. We are talking about what practices are likely to lead to a spread of genes, not what is likely to lead to marital satisfaction. Even if all those ultra-religious couples are miserable, it’s their genes that will be propagated.

        sabril

        April 2, 2019 at 11:58 AM

      • I don’t think that marrying at 20 versus waiting til 30 plays as much of a role as people think. Correlation doesn’t imply causation. And there’s a strong self-selection bias involved. More specifically, people who wait longer (due to university, career, etc) tend to have a higher IQ and more impulse control. But I think the risk of divorce for the individual would have been similar whether they had married younger or waited. After all, previously divorced people have a much higher rate of getting divorced again.

And there’s an easy way to prove this to yourself. If you were dating a 30 yr old divorcee would you think they were higher risk for having been divorced? Or would you think they weren’t a higher risk because it happened when they were younger? And I’m not saying that every divorcee is high risk. Perhaps they just had poor judgement and married someone who was.

Regardless, some people go through life repeatedly marrying and getting divorced. While many of the people they divorced get remarried and stay married. Some people just don’t have what it takes to be married. And people would do well to steer clear of them.

“I would have agreed with you 10 or 20 years ago, but check out the fertility rates among the underclass. It’s barely at replacement level.”

The problem is, even if fertility rates among the poor come down gradually to the level of the elite (and they aren’t anywhere close if you survey the globe) that doesn’t take into account the population pyramid.

That is, poor and backward populations are much much younger, and high IQ, advanced populations are much much older. Even if fertility rates went into balance tomorrow (and that isn’t happening), backward populations would continue to grow for many, many years and advanced populations would continue to decline for many, many years, because of the share of the population that is in its fertile years.

Steve Sailer explains this now and then but few people really get it.

The crude birth rate is 48 in Niger, 38 in Nigeria around 8 for Germany, Korea and Japan. Things are really shifting by a factor of 6 per generation and the mind reels.

That’s still pissing in the ocean compared to the wild and explosive growth of the ultra-religious. The conceptual mistake you are making is dividing the world into two groups: third-world (young and high fertility) and advanced (old and low fertility).

    • The three groups you mention are small in number. From what I’ve read of the Amish, hereditary recessive fatal diseases are limiting their fertility.

The Orthodox Jews are smarter: everyone is tested as a teen (but are not told the results) and all matchmakers sent their proposed matches to the main database that is stored in Israel.

If any of the various tested recessive conditions are found to be carried by both partners, the match is a no-go.

Tay Sachs wards have been closed, in part due to this (plus voluntary testing amongst the non-Orthodox).

As for the whacko fundamentalist Mormons practising polygamy, it’s hard to have any sympathy for them. They hunt female converts, thus they don’t have as much as a disease problem the Amish and Jews.

They also openly feed at any trough available (like welfare), have to keep ejecting teenage males from their group or the alpha leaders can’t be polygamous.

He’s assimilated all too well with zero kids and according to him, no desire for any. Just a hedonistic life style. Wonder where he learned that this was acceptable?)

Others might have one or two kids, but not the huge families of the really religious.

Plus we must consider what I mentioned: they assimilate us. This is already happening in the UK. Protesting Muslims have stopped LGBT education for young children.

The professional LGBT don’t cave easily but I’ve not heard a peep of counter protest. They’ve met their match. Assimilating the West to them under way already. Thing is, the professional LGBT is so obnoxious many truly sympathize with the Muslims.

Kind of odd considering part of my post 9/11 education included the Jerusalem Post for several years. The haredim (I think that’s what they called them) were rarely reported on. Some politicians positively despised them. But that was due to them getting some exemption from military service and even working for a living.

Outside Israel, they’d have to fund themselves though. I don’t doubt these groups could cause problems but well past my time (I’m over 65).

I think @Mike Street has it right, they’re dwarfed by immigrants.

@Hermes Didn’t know that about Roosh. I don’t follow him but I listened to a couple of his vids at one point. He certainly didn’t seem to have any religious beliefs.

You can tell quite a bit about Iranians from their names. No believing Muslim would give his son the pre-Islamic pagan name “Darius.” And if he got religious later he’d change in a flash.

Sounds the parents came from the elite, where religion was out of vogue. I read a memoir by a woman with a strange pedigree. Her mother, from Austria, married an Iranian Muslim during WW II. The mother was perfectly happy living in Iran and it was a happy marriage.

The daughter married an Iranian Jew and they ended up in the US. I don’t suppose any of them was particularly religious. But she noted that her marriage was happy too. Maybe it’s inherited.

Now, while sample sizes across the board are generally small, we see an interesting pattern. However, here we see that there is finer pattern behind this when you break it down. What is actually happening is that fertility is highly dysgenic by IQ for liberal men (for whom indeed, the smartest category of such men here – roughly IQ 115+ – about 50% leave no descendants); is slightly dysgenic for moderate men; and is slightly eugenic for conservative men.

And again, Lion is talking about the global level. There is no positive correlation at the global level, which is why global mean IQ is dropping.

      • “Nope: Who’s Having the Babies? | JayMan’s Blog”

“Who’s having the babies” is not the right question to ask. The question is “who is having lots of babies and teaching them to have lots of babies?”

It’s like a big-O calculation in computer science.

If t represents time, the future population is A*t^n1 + B*t^n2 + C*2^t. Where A is the number of conservatives; or high iq people or whatever; B is the number of liberals or low iq people or whatever; and C is the number of ultra-religious types. You can argue about n1 versus n2 all day long, but at the end of the day it doesn’t matter. The future belongs to group C and it’s the only part of the equation that’s relevant in terms of long-term behavior.

I kinda doubt it. African nations have high fertility at the moment to be sure, but it’s difficult to see why their fertility rates won’t drop just like those of American blacks or West Indian nations. The TFR in Jamaica is 2.0 — slightly below replacement.

I remember back in the 70s it was feared that the Arabs in Israel (fertility rate of like 7.0) would quickly outnumber the Jews. What happened instead was that the Arab fertility rate dropped steadily while the Jewish rate rose. The two are crossing over just this year.

  12. Completely disagree about alphas. See Thomas Carlyle and the hero in history.

We are dysgenic because western women are directing alphas towards being animated dildos rather than fathers. They don’t want children because they are white trash, plain and simple. Children create responsibilities and foster a spirituality in society because of the principally immaterial relationship between mother and child.

When western women become self-aware working like a man for a paycheck as opposed to building a family is proletarian they will shape up. But we live in a dictatorship of the proletariat for now so they are all blind to how classless they appear in willfully eschewing self-restraint, which is the hallmark of nobility.

Your average dorky nerd would probably have been a nobody two hundred years ago- if he even survived to adulthood – but today can earn a decent living as an engineer and have a family, or knock up a woman out of wedlock and fork over child support. I’ve known many a nerd with children. Arguably this is why autism is on the rise with so many aspergery types contributing to the gene pool.

It is very sad, though, to think of all the smart children never conceived or born because the people who should be having children aren’t.

    toomanymice

    April 1, 2019 at 4:42 PM

    • 200 years ago, a woman who had illegitimate children was a disgrace. And, since most jobs were hard manual labor, her prospects would be severely limited. Her dire circumstances would force her to either give her child up for adoption or settle down with a beta who could pay the bills. So even 200 years ago, betas were having most of the children.

As for autism being on the rise, people wouldn’t have even known what that was. They’d just dismiss the low functioning ones as imbeciles, put a hoe in their hand and tell them to get to work. I’m sure there were lots of people like that. But that kind of labor doesn’t exist anymore and now everyone goes to school. I think the increase has more to do with a higher percentage of autistic people being diagnosed not a higher percentage of people who are autistic. Same goes for adhd. Schools push the diagnosis because they get more money for kids with disabilities.

      destructure

      April 1, 2019 at 8:04 PM

      • Another factor in the autism diagnoses: more kids who in the past would have been labeled plain old “mentally retarded” (recently renamed “intellectually disabled”) are now given an autism diagnosis at the behest of the parents, because there’s less stigma associated with it. If your kid has plain old intellectual disability, well, he’s just a retard. If he’s autistic, he’s “special,” “unique,” “different,” etc.

  23. One bright afternoon in a community college somewhere a middle aged white woman with dyed bright blue hair is teaching a class on “Gender Studies”. She is explaining about the “patriarchy”, how women have been and are being oppressed by (white) men, and that women and people of colour and all the other oppressed groups in society need to rise up and overthrow the white male power structure.

In her class there are six young women of Bangla Deshi heritage. They are all slim, pretty, and elegantly attired, as is their custom, emphasising femininity and beauty in a modest and graceful way. These young ladies all pay respectful attention to their lecturer, since that too is their custom, and indeed one of the young ladies is destined to be awarded a Distinction in her class, but it must be said that they’re not really taking much in. In their break periods they do, indeed, discuss gender relations, but not as the blue haired lady intended. Instead, they gossip incessantly about the young male suitors their parents have introduced them to the previous weekend. “I liked him, but my mum and dad refused point blank when they learned he had no qualifications”, or “He hardly spoke to me, all he wanted was a passport to stay in this country”.

Fast forward ten years. Today the blue haired lady (who has stopped dying her hair blue) is retiring from her job at the college. The Gender Studies course is being scrapped now she is leaving, as interest has waned over the years. It was only ever popular with young white women, and they are rather scarce now. Girls with immigrant parents prefer something more practical and work related, such as Business Studies or Accounting. Besides, they’re not all that interested in white men’s misdeeds. What’s that to do with them?

Our six young Bangla Deshi girls have all married and blossomed into proper young wives and mothers. By an astonishing coincidence they all have four children! I am pleased to report that despite having ups and downs they all still remain friends, and they all occasionally go to the park together with their children to catch up on the latest news. Thirty folks when they all show up!

Fast forward another twenty years. Sad news. Our (formerly) blue haired lady has passed away. Today is her funeral. Of course, she never married, and she had no children, and her remaining family, such as it is, are either dead or live too far away, so just five very elderly people are in attendance. These include her good friend, John, who had discovered her decomposing body, and had taken care of the arrangements, which included re-homing her four cats with some other elderly spinsters and gay friends. Goodbye blue haired lady.

Our six young Bangla Deshi women are now in middle age and beginning to welcome their crop of grandchildren. Two of our girls did not stop at four kids and one even had seven! Altogether they have nine grandchildren now. (But they will finish up with seventy seven grandchildren, making over one hundred folks altogether.)

[The six Bangla Deshi girls described in the first part of the story are taken from my real life experience.]

  24. Another factor is #metoo but it is actually working against your theory. Up until 20 years ago romance in the workplace between managers and their secretaries was the norm, men used to pursue the women below them, get into a relationship and marry them. This would average their children IQ so it will not be so extreme to either way. Now people tend to marry people who are exactly at the same level as them, a doctor will marry a lawyer and a teacher will marry a social worker. This creates more extreme IQ at the top level which can counter balance the lower IQ at the bottom level with automation and scaling. So one very smart person in the future can have an impact similiar to 10 lower IQ people. I don’t believe in the advance of automation as you do but according to your theories it should work.

    Hashed

    April 1, 2019 at 7:24 PM

    • The problem coming from this mating pattern is that when already high IQ people are having children, those children come out too smart. By too smart I mean that their high IQ is paired with bipolar/schizophrenic etc. conditions (too much serotonin, dopamine, you name it in the brain). So, they use marijuana to manage symptoms. As a result, marijuana suddenly became needed to be legalized. A good percentage of children of people in power are bipolar/schizophrenic. It is a tragedy.

My point was that in a world where people can hit on people below them in the workplace it is much more likely that a men will marry someone below their level of IQ, not someone from a completely different social class.

(Also, as SJWs would no doubt tell us, now that we have same-sex marriage, when you speak of someone being married you can’t assume the gender of their spouse. But again, I can’t imagine too many same-sex marriages occurring among car mechanics.)

People who are bossed around have always been with us and their lot in life will be pretty much the same in 2050 as it was in 1950. One’s views on whether the Democrats are as stupid as they seem are unimportant – of course they are as stupid as they seem.

You see, there is no reason to support abortion – the moronic Democratic party does not need your support on that issue – and supporting abortion will bring down on you the wrath of God. I am only telling you that because I like you.

Worrying about dysgenics is not a big deal, that is what people do who do not understand this —-

the elites will always live well, as the world turns.

And there are going to be elites no matter how long the world goes on.

  27. I agree 100%. Dysgenic fertility is the biggest threat to civilization in the world. We’re slowly becoming too incapable to maintain it.

I never understand why liberals, at the same time, worry abt the climate of 2050 and are allowing their people to be replaced. Who cares!? If we’re replaced, it’d be the problem of the newcomers.

    • Because what matters is what people feel, and liberals don’t feel that their people are being replaced. It’s been shown that liberals actually favor the out-group. In a sense, the out-group is their in-group. They see heritage Americans as foreigners, and foreigners as “their people.”

    • “I never understand why liberals, at the same time, worry abt the climate of 2050 and are allowing their people to be replaced.”

Liberals don’t actually care about the climate of 2050. They are just virtue-signalling. i.e. they pretend to care so as to enhance their social status among other liberals. If they actually cared about carbon emissions, they would refrain from their frequent airplane trips to the West Coast and Europe. They would push for widespread adoption of nuclear power. They would demand trade sanctions be imposed on China over its carbon emissions.

But they do none of these things. Instead, by some strange coincidence they push for policies which will punish their hated out-group and give more money and power to other liberals.

    • Anyone who worries about the climate should also worry about this. I suspect huge swaths of liberals don’t believe that IQ even varies, even within a particular ethnic group.

They may be too stupid to understand the concept, although it’s vastly simpler than climate change. But the MSM has pushed the climate change topic with great vigour.

OTOH, any reference to IQ, even if it’s within a particular ethnic group seems to be verboten. It seems like the left can’t even admit that IQs vary and are inherited. They simply won’t write about it at all.

      IQ is a taboo topic.

  28. At this point, I’m rooting for the Hasids and other orthos. Certainly, the modern orthos.

An atomized secular people can’t and won’t reproduce at replacement level. But small tribes that keep their eye on the ball regarding cohesive identity and women getting knockedup young deserve to persist. That way is more natural and in-tuned to human happiness. They still have upright familes and communities while everybody is on weed or pornified.

I guarantee you Lion would be 1000x happier if he were raised ortho.

I agree with this to an extent. He would probably have married young and had a nice family with a lot of children. People are so focused on careers that they forget that with rare exceptions, the key to happiness and satisfaction in life is having close relationships with other people.

    • For one thing, if he had been raised ortho his ortho community would have set him up with a bride.

That phenomenon makes me wish that I had been raised within an analogous community in Christianity, but there really aren’t any quite like that. There’s the Amish, but you have to give up modern conveniences, plus your wife is going to stink and have bad teeth because of the lack of hygiene practices made possible by modern technology, and be inbred to boot. There’s Mormonism, but their beliefs are too far outside of the mainstream of Christianity historically, plus they have to wear funny underwear and engage in all kinds of secret Temple rituals. And evangelicalism is too much like the rest of the world: it’s not a close-knit community where someone is going to set you up. There you have to have game just like anywhere else.

      • I’m getting to the point where I think “individualism” and “freedom” are near totally bogus economic buzzwords for the 1%. They are decadent/artificial ideas that only have the luxury of coming about AFTER prosperity and health have been achieved in a unified and structured society that adheres to nature.

They’re not what get you there, though. Not in individuals, families, or societies. Most young people need to be FORCED to do what is right for themselves; otherwise they’ll be lost.

      • Non- Orthodox Jews found it easy to find mates until fairly recently. What helped Jewish men, no matter how much of a mensch (the kind of gentle good guy that most American women hate) they were, is the extreme importance Jews had of limiting of marriage and mating exclusively with other Jews.

When people see pictures of my parents when they were young a common reaction is how did my dad an average looking guy score my mom who was a beautiful woman. Well for one thing my dad was charming and funny. More than anything he was Jewish and it would have been scandalous if my mom married a gentile. That was in the 1960s and somebody did set them up.

Fast forward 20 years later to 1983 when I was a teenager. Someone tried to set me up with a Jewish girl. A group of my friends and hers went out and that Jewish girl had the hots for my tall athletic gentile friend and they ended up dating and having sex. The fact that I was Jewish meant nothing to her, absolutely nothing. She was free to date and have children with gentiles. The whole thing of staying within the group was pretty much over. If it’s any consolation for me I wasn’t especially attracted to her physically or personality wise so getting in a relationship followed by a young marriage with her probably wouldn’t have made me happy.

      • @fakeemail, interesting point about how individualism and freedom are the result of a stable, prosperous, high-trust society, not the cause of it. Hard to believe that after Trump disrupted the Republican Party establishment and won the election, there are still these Heritage Foundation and National Review types who believe the latter, but there they are.

PS I don’t follow this topic so for all I know the situation in Israel may have changed.

Elsewhere, I’ve seen that the Barbados birth rate is 1.8 births per woman. That is below replacement rate.

Aron is also below replacement rate. So is Vietnam. It’s not just a white thing.

  31. Alex Gibney’s somewhat outdated and disingenuous PBS documentary “Park Avenue: Money, Power & the American Dream” – a product of HBD denial liberals, depicts two contrasting Park Avenues in the beginning of the show.

At 6:00 of the youtube video, the Park Avenue in the South Bronx shows low IQ NAMs who appear to make a living out on gov’t welfare and Sec. 8 Housing, while the real Park Avenue are all about Wall St. tycoons like Stephen Schwarzman with his lavish residence and extravagant spending.

These two contrasting Park Avenues depict the two species of value transference parasites that infect our nation, although the wealthy type aren’t a serious problem in a high IQ civic society, because of their “philanthropy”, while the second group are essentially dysgenic and a bane to any civilization.
