Russian Doll

It’s like Groundhog Day, but with drugs, lesbians, and lots of f-bombs. And it takes place in Alphabet City, which is pretty cool.

And it’s racist against Asian men. While one of the supporting characters is a lesbian Asian woman, and we see a few other Asian women in the background at the party, there’s not a single Asian man to be seen anywhere. Thus the show, which otherwise goes out of its way to be hyper-diverse (in contrast to Groundhog Day which was a very white movie), perpetuates the stereotype that Asian men are too nerdy and uncool to be part of this show’s scene.

  1. It was pretty good. It’s about as a much of a critique of her lifestyle as you can get away with these days. It really doesn’t make it look like very much fun, and you get the impression that her drug abuse and promiscuity is all a response to childhood trauma.

    • Drug abuse and promiscuity are very hard on women but ok for guys. A lot of guys I know who lived this lifestyle are doing very well later in life whether continuing with their alternative lifestyle or domesticated. The women are mostly not married and very depressed and the lucky ones are married and mildly depressed but at least have comfort with having kids. But maybe that’s the general status or women these days

    • The very premise upon which any sort of immigration and multiculturalism is promoted is that human nature is plastic. Obviously, this is not so. The side effects produced by such policy, at least in the case of blacks and Hispanics, can somewhat be covered up by affirmative action, but in the case of Asian men, it’s the complete opposite: not only are we the institutional victims of reverse discrimination—much more so than whites, at least in the case of academics — but we’re forever living at the margins of both societies, with depressed social status, cultural alienation, and a sense of purposelessness. Similar to some lower-class whites, we suffer from problems that will never be recognized. The only people that are willing to acknowledge the faulty logic that led to this mess in the first place are various places on the blogosphere, which is why I read this blog. Unfortunately, the left has co-opted this situation by successfully misattributing the causes of these maladies to “racism” within the public consciousness and alt-right ethno-nationalist figures will understandably impede the formation of any sort of coalition between white HBD believers and non-pozzed Asians.

Asians can generally intuit the unfairness in the situation, but the majority are not curious enough to actually verse themselves in the literature that would allow them to form coalitions politically. They’re the epitome of the Bay Area technologist that knows the latest AI trends but whose sense of history started around the Dot Com Bubble.

  3. Asian men should be glad that they’re not depicted in Hollywood productions. Hollywood depictions of white men are uniformly negative. They’re either villains or fools, or if they’re depicted as protagonists and heroes, they’re heroic for affirming and doing liberal, leftist, anti-white things. And because of American cultural imperialism, this is spread into Europe, whereas places like China censor Hollywood and Asia has greater language and cultural barriers as well as their own domestic productions that depict Asian men positively.

By not depicting Asian men, Hollywood is actually being less racist against Asian men than it is against white men.

      • Maybe you don’t pay that much attention to this, but Broadway is now in full white genocide mode.

Literally every revival of the great stage classics has black actors and singers in white parts. Oklahoma has a black leading Lady, the revival of carousel had a black Billy Bigelow. Denzel Washington personally sponsored a revival of the Iceman cometh, in which he played the lead part, immortalized by Jason robards.

It’s completely ridiculous because supposedly we were and are a horribly racist society, so how can I admit that we are a racist country, but suspend that and put up with color blind casting? You can’t, except that it advances white genocide.

The main leg in this white genocide project is the BBC. The upcoming production of Les Miserables has David olewayo in one of the major parts.

One of the reasons why I despise Sailer type anti-Semitism is that it’s so stupid and provincial. he never mentions the fact that the BBC, which is extremely un-Jewish, is perhaps the most influential media empire in the history of the world.

when you go outside of the United States, the most important entertainment and news source in English is the BBC. Not CNN, not anything American, but the good old Beeb.

And it was the British who pioneered this ridiculous colorblind casting.

Soon it will come to Hollywood.

Hey Steve, if you’re reading this, write a little bit about the BBC and colorblind casting.

Prediction: soon we will see black Juliets, black Beatrices, black Rosalinda, black this black that black Hamlet. You can’t see a white Othello painting his face, but we will see black Hamlets.

This will result in a complete demoralisation of any white kid who wants to go into the theater and portray his own people. Maybe that’s a good thing. The theater is a horrible business.

But I think when you take a people’s culture away from them, you have killed them. Cultural genocide is real.

      • The colour blinding is just the start, wait till you see the gender blinding, at least colour blinding can be real, gender blinding is now touching the realms of sci fi. I was watching this British show on called “bodyguard”. First scene a swat team led by a woman with a woman sniper and women in other roles is taking over some suicide bomber in a train. Now this is not some wonder woman action movie, it is a british drama which suppose to be realistic. In reality there are no swat teams led by a woman, those are suppose to be elite forces and there are no women in elite forces, they hardly cut it out into regular infantry and that’s also with massive reduction of standards to accommodate them. It just doesn’t feel right but of course the show is hailed as some breakthrough because all those women in those roles. It is just stupid.

The entertainment industry has always been a nest of exploitation and degeneracy. And the kind of people drawn to it tend to be shallow and degenerate to start with. Any decent people working in the industry would probably agree with me.

“But I think when you take a people’s culture away from them, you have killed them. Cultural genocide is real.”

Broadway and Hollywood have never been my culture. For that matter, most of what passes for art, literature, music, sports, etc stopped being “culture” a long time ago. If anything, they’re anti-culture. Culture is what you do yourself, not what you pay someone else to do.

At least, that’s my two cents. 🙂

      • >>Speaking of which, “We were soldiers” is now on Netflix – great movie.

“We are soldiers…” is a lousy movie. Gibson’s and Hollywood’s sentimental, cowardly instincts prevented him from telling the entire story of the battle (battle of Ia Drang, November 1965). There just had to be positive, uplifting closure at the end. One could have mistaken the movie for Spielberg’s handiwork. The movie is propaganda. The battle of Ia Drang – especially the second part – was a terrible slaughter. A slaughter of both US Army units and the North Vietnamese.

What is shown in the movie is just the first part of the battle. Read the book on which the movie is based, consult Wiki or Google around for recollections of men who fought in the battle. The second part of the battle was a mauling of the US relief column (a rumble in the jungle if there ever was one) as it trekked through the jungle to another landing zone. The ferocity of the fighting should have given pause to Johnson, Westmoreland, et. al. about getting involved any further in the hopeless, tragic quagmire that was the Vietnam war.

  6. All of these new shows suck. They usually rely on sensationalism, and oftentimes periodicity, in place of actual authorship and relatable characters.

There hasn’t hardly been a good drama since The Sopranos. Well if The Sopranos was an A, then there have been a few B grades (Better Call Saul, Fargo). And then nothing. I recently tried watching I’m Dying Up Here and Snowfall. TERRIBLE, completely superficial. Every show has leftist politics front and center, apart from being generally terrible and uninteresting. There hasn’t been a good movie since Step Brothers. Family Guy is almost the only thing left that’s entertaining. Stupid comedies have been holding up better, but there’s nothing in the pipeline. These guys are slippin.

I nearly married a guy who attended gibson’s church and there was heavy, arguably cult-like pressure on members to get non SSPX spouses to join.

Anyway if he hasn’t married the subsequent women it may be because he can’t obtain an annulment from the catholic church, there may be political issues regarding his involvement with SSPX and/or he can’t get the annulment from SSPX authorities (no idea if he’s still a member). Just speculating.
