Poway shooter still a mystery

Normally, by this time, there’s some story in which someone who knew the shooter from school has something to say, either good (I can’t believe he could do that) or bad (he always seemed sort of creepy) but there is complete silence. Perhaps no one knew him? Did he have a personality disorder that prevented him from having any friends?

* * *

Finally, a clue:

Gerrit Groenewold, a member of the church, told The Daily Beast on Sunday that Earnest was the quietest of his family, so quiet that Groenewold grew concerned. “I noticed that he was quiet and just wanted to have contact,” he said. “It’s not good if someone is that quiet. He needs to be part of the community, to let them know what is going on.”

Extreme shyness, like Elliott Rodger?

  1. If he had no friends, someone would have said “he’s a loner who keeps to himself.” Can’t you hate Jews and still have a social life?

  2. I have a feeling the media is choking off information on those that they consider “white nationalists.” Morning Joe did a big piece this morning on the white nationalist terrorist threat, including the Poway shooter, the Christchurch shooter, and the Pittsburgh shooter. The Christchurch shooter is a legitimate white nationalist, since he said as much in his manifesto, but I still have not found out any white nationalist motivation from the Pittsburgh or Poway shooter; they just hated Jews.

  4. He had good grades, an intact family, and played piano…I don’t get it. But I never understood the chronic dissatisfaction of young guys anyway.

    Was he an incel?

    • Current political climate marginalizes people that have good grades, an intact family, and play piano. Those that are unstable like this bipolar guy will react. Note that bipolar does not mean stupid. Bipolar means smart, but unstable. They react first and often push the system off equilibrium. Most great (good and bad) people in history were bipolar.

  5. If you were a friend of a mass shooter, especially a WN one, would you talk to journalists? Talk about harmful to your future prospects when people / employers google your name.

    Almost all previous mass shooters have been between older Millennial and Boomer age and from suburban and rural areas, so their friends are just want to milk their 15 minutes and the consequences don’t occur to them, but Gen Z’ers from urban SoCol are much more wise to the Great Awokening.
