Game of Thrones finale predictions
Final episode of the series on Sunday. UPDATED!
I predict …
Daenerys kills Jon Snow, Arya avenges him and kills Daenerys, and Sansa becomes Queen of all Westeros with Arya in charge of her Queensguard. #Girlpower wins!
(Unless Arya decides to retire from politics or gets eaten by a dragon, in which case Brienne of Tarth will be put in charge of the Queensguard. #Girlpower!)
The Bran theory
It has been brought to my attention that Bran is the odds-on favorite to become King, according to oddsmakers. Apparently there is supposed to be a leaked script or something on the Internet.
I find Bran hard to believe. Nothing that has happened has caused me to think that Bran is going to be King. Sure, there is the mystery about Bran being the three-eyed Raven, which hasn’t been fully resolved, but Bran has not shown any interest in ruling anything, and we have not seen any evidence that the people want him to be their leader. The people, especially of the North, respect warrior kings like Jon Snow.
The only plausible scenario for Bran becoming King is that Jon and Daenerys both die, which is likely because Daenerys will kill Jon because she wants to kill someone who has a better claim to the throne than she does. If she’s willing to kill Varys, and all of those innocent people in King’s Landing, then Jon is probably next. And then, as I already wrote, I can see Arya killing Daenerys. If she can kill the Night King, she can certainly take out Daenerys.
But then, rule of Westeros seems to naturally fall to Sansa. The series has gone out of its way this season and the end of last season to show us that Sansa is now a shrewd political operator, and she’s already the defacto ruler of the North while Jon isn’t around, and unlike Bran she seems to want the job (Varys told us that someone who doesn’t want to be ruler is the best ruler, but people who don’t want it never get the job), and then there’s #girlpower.
Bran can only become the King if every on refused to accept Sansa because she’s not a man. But I don’t think that’s the un-woke message that they would want to end the show with. Or will there be some sort of Deus ex machina thing involving Bran’s Three-Eyed Raven powers that makes him King? Even though I’m not a fan of #girlpower, Bran has king doesn’t sound like a very satisfying ending, or one that logically follows from what has already happened.

Sorry Lion, but spoilers came out a week before last week’s episode. They predicted everything that would happen in the previous episode (a week before it aired). And at the same time the spoilers predicted that in the upcoming episode (which has not yet aired), Jon would kill Daenerys, then abdicate power and head North. Bran would be elected king, and day to day operations of Westeros would be run by a panel of his advisors.
Considering that the spoilers were highly detailed and predicted everything that happened in the last episode, I have to assume that they are correct about the next episode. I’m going with Bran being king. Would you care to bet money against me?

If that’s the ending I’m sure Bran’s election opponent will want to rebuild the Wall and make the Wildlings pay for it, collude with the Iron Bank of Braavos’ election meddling and end up scalped (incl. ridiculous combover) or cut in half crotch-first by Brienne or Arya when he attempts to grab her by the pussy.

I only offer bet money when my information is better than the information of the person I’m betting against. Usually that means betting on English language vocabulary against someone who speaks English as a second language. I won all my biggest bets doing that.
My riskiest “sure I’m right” prediction was saying that Conor McGregor had far less than a 1 in 40 chance of beating Floyd Mayweather in a boxing match.
When I offer to bet money, I have a 100% track record of being correct.

Predictions are worthless when the writing is this bad. It’s a crap shoot. This show is truly a fall from greatness with hints of decline in season 4 and a huge drop starting in season 5.
I second what Sigmas said about the leaks. All but confirmed at this point. Further spoilers after this sentence. Sansa rules the north and Brienne becomes the head of Bran’s kingsguard. Arya goes adventuring.

It’s not uncommon to have a character who rides off into the sunset. A variation of this theme is someone who is fed up with people and goes off to be on their own. I’ve thought Arya has been shaping up to fulfill that role in this show. Especially given what she’s been through as well as her time with the “many faced god”.

Agreed. But they’ve left a lot of foreshadowing and unanswered questions surrounding Bran. What’s his deal with the Night King? Clearly there was something going on there. Winter was coming. The Night King was linked to Bran and was after him for some reason. The Night King is now dead. So there would be a kind of symmetry if Bran ruled now. I still don’t like it. But I would like for the ending to answer those questions.

Can someone tell me how to pronounce “khaleesi”? Is it the Hebrew “kh” guttoral? Or is it just an “h” sound? If the latter what’s the reason for the initial “kh”?

The “h” is silent, and indicates stress on the following vowel, as in “Khublai Khan,” “Khrushchev,” “Khartoum,” “Khashoggi,” etc.

I think gendry being made a lord was foreshadowing for something significant, but so far this season has been choppy and discombobulated so perhaps it was a random plot point.
There also has been no closure for the samwell plotline.

The bran theory makes sense. The wheelchair as ‘throne’ being foreshadowing… for seven seasons. Surprising no one caught on. Maybe he can warg the dragon.

I’m actually predicting that Jon is the one that will kill Daenerys (It’s hard to predict Jon’s ending after that, but he for sure will not be king).
I also predict that Sansa will be queen.
As for Arya, I’m predicting she either dies or rides into the sunset (back to Essos maybe).

The girl power prediction, in some sort of variation, seems like a good possibility. The last two seasons shows what happens when the TV people have to veer off the books; they default to standard TV tropes.
In that vein, I predict a girl…any girl, sits on the throne.

I never watched the show or read the books but they’re so popular I even know some of the names. My prediction: the mysteriously appearing page Daequanervious, of the heretofore unknown island fief of Selmabama, sits on the unbreakable throne and it breaks under her darkling weight. Sort of like Arthur pulling the sword from the stone.

The betting markets apparently say it’s Bran. I doubt Arya will kill Daenerys since she already assassinated the Night King. That would give her two of the biggest kills. I do agree that Daenerys will attempt to kill Snow, the perceived threat to her “birth-right.” Maybe the dragon refuses to set him on fire. Or maybe Bran will finally do *something* and take control of the dragon.

Yeah, there’s no way to make money betting on Bran (unless you can trick a blogger into betting on Sansa). The spoilers which were 100% accurate for all the events in the last episode did make some predictions about the next episode beyond Bran being king. You might be able to make money betting on those predictions.
Apparently the spoilers came from HBO employees who worked in post-production. Shooting multiple endings to avoid spoilers does not seem to have been HBO’s to-do-list. The source has proven 100% accurate thus far. The key to making money would be to get the earliest posted version of the spoilers and not the ones that may have been altered by re-telling.

I think Jon will kill Daeny, but he will be killed or “take the black” and go north to rebuild the wall.
Sansa will be on the throne, agreed. I think Arya will retire to Esso to live a life of adventure. Yes. Ser. Brienne will be captain of the “Queen’s Guard”.

What will happen.
* Fat Sam and that girl have a baby, and proudly announce they will raise it as un-gendered.
* Arya comes out as a Lesbian and gets “hands off my body” tattooed on her stomach. She takes off for that sort of Arabic part of the GoT world, because lots of hot chicks there will do lesbo stuff.
* Daenerys becomes Queen and immediately begins a forced migration plan to diversity all parts of her new kingdom. Whites in the North are legally discriminated against and become second class citizens. Twitter explodes in joy.
* Jon Snow says “F this clown world” and heads up beyond the Wall to find another hot Wildling girl.
* Bran says to Daenerys, “I know what you are up to,” and she says “drakaris” or whatever and the dragon swallows Bran in one gulp, but chokes on the wheel chair and dies.
* Sansa is forced by Daenerys to work in a brothel, and she immediately begins to organize the sex workers into a union. This becomes the basis for the first GoT spin-off show, “Sansa’s World,” featuring a multi-cultural cast of hot, strong wimmen who band together to fight the patriarchy, which somehow still exists even though the whole world is ruled by the iron fist of a woman.

Neither Sansa nor Bran has a plausible path to the Iron Throne. Dany declared Gendry a legitimate Baratheon. If Dany kills Jon and Arya kills Dany, that makes Gendry Baratheon, who is now the lawful heir of Robert Baratheon (who was the last undisputed King of Westeros) the obvious King. Arya will back Gendry because she has a soft spot for him, and he’ll allow Sansa to rule the north. And Gendry will remain Arya’s booty call, rendering Arya the de facto ruler of Westeros. That’s grrl power.

Apparently there are multiple leakers, and they aren’t perfectly accurate because they have to do post-production on scenes with no sound, and they also don’t get to see the scenes in order:

Some leakers read too much into the scenes, like the guy who thinks that Tyrion is killed in the pit by a dragon for his crime of treason, even though there are numerous scenes with Tyrion advising Bran after Bran choses Tyrion as hand of the King, and even though the leaker admits the footage doesn’t actually show Tyrion being killed.
Here’s a quote about Bran being elected:
“When they’re deciding who to elect as king, Sam suggests holding a democratic election and the other nobles laugh at him. That’s before they vote on Bran.”
Here’s a quote about who kills the dragon queen:
“Why Jon kills her? At that point Jon is horrified by what Dany has done to King’s Landing, and she gives speeches about how she’ll keep doing it to free slaves from their chains. He’s also convinced by Tyrion that his family will never be safe because he presents a threat to her rule, so he’s motivated by that as well, I’m sure.”

Also, apparently Tyrion and Jon are both prisoners of Grey Worm after Jon kills Daenerys. Tyrion remains a prisoner until after the council elects Bran. Then Bran names Tyrion hand. As hand of the king, Tyrion sentences Jon to join the Night’s Watch.
Grey Worm grudgingly accepts that instead of being sentenced to death Tyrion and Jon have effectively been sentenced to community service. Grey Worm then takes his army off to free other slave cities, because that was what Daenerys planned to do with it before Jon stabbed her.

I read that leak about Bran and it makes no logical sense.
I’m sure Daenerys is toast. After she’s gone, the next logical ruler is Cerseis brother, Tyrion. I don’t recall Tyrion and Sansas marriage being annulled, and if it is not, AND if another leak is true (Tyrion dying), Sansa would be next in line.
I hate girlpower as much as you do lion but Sansa is one of the few left who will do a decent job ruling.
Worse, if Bran becomes king, my social media newsfeed will be full of nonstop whining —- not looking forward to that.

It would make sense for Bran to take control of the dragon. He saw it flying above Kings Landing. Bizarre he let Daenary do that. The purpose will be explained. There must be also a role for the letters send by Varys to the Lords of Westeros and maybe from Essos, who will probably come to Kings Landing to help Jon, maybe bringing Brann,Sansa and Brienne, maybe Yara too). Arya has to shut down the green eyes (but maybe the prophecy is for a future spin off).
I imagine Daenarys sentencing Tyrion and Ser Davos to death by fire, this, provoking, either Arya or Jon, or important people to help them, or maybe Bran controlling the dragon. If Bran controls the dragon, he can burn Daenarys and the unsullied and the remaining Dothrakis. I see Arya disappearing for another life, maybe returning to Essos, after this episode.
I imagine Jon returning to the true North with the widlings. I believe he feels better there. Maybe he will follow Aemon Targaryan path. They are a bit the same kind of people. It would be sad that Samwell Tarly wisdom wouldn’t be put to good use, next to Bran.

Bran becoming king will make sense in the books. I haven’t read them or watched the show, but that’s my conclusion. The author has the plot outlined in his head and shared it with the TV people, but they decided to pick and choose the wrong parts for the show because they want to push their ideas until the very last minute, whereupon they will tack on the ending that is required.

Hot Pie sits the throne! Sam becomes his queen! Arya turns into a dragon and Brienne is put in charge of tearing down the wall and falls in love with a giant. Jon and Khaleesi patch up their differences and fly to Essos to set up a Slaves R Us! discount warehouse.
Sansa marries Tormund and they change the locks so that Bran and Tyrion can’t get into Winterfell and so they open up a tavern where Bran uses his powers to fill people’s drink orders before they know what they want themselves. Tyrion starts “Dwarf Toss” night to drum up business on Tuesdays which are otherwise too slow.
Stupid? Yeah, but probably not as stupid as what will air on Sunday…

I don’t know. He seemed pretty stoked about being given Storm’s End. “Not wanting” something is not the same as never considering something because it wasn’t a realistic possibility. Now that he is Lord of Storm’s End I could see him pressing his claim if something were to happen to Dany. After all, Gendry is now the legitimate son and heir of the last undisputed King and he has the most certified Tagarayen Blood of any claimant via his grandmother. All Jon has is a cockamanie story backed up by freak gimp brother while Bran has no claim at all and Sansa doesn’t even have a the lawful claim to her own House let alone the entire Kingdom.
Gendry also seems pretty practical. No doubt it Dany had asked him to marry her in the wake of Jon refusing her offer to rule with her he would have jumped at it in a heartbeat.
