Mass shooting in Virginia

Little is currently known about the shooter, except that he’s a “disgruntled employee.”

So I call this prole rage based on this limited info.

* * *

NY Times says he’s “a current, longtime public utilities employee.”

* * *

Shooter is black!

And he has a B.S. in civil engineering. As a college graduate, that means he’s not prole after all.

* * *

More at CNN. He sounds weirdly introverted for a black guy. Neighbors say he kept to himself, they rarely saw him, he rarely said anything. So far, no evidence that he had a girlfriend or a wife or anything. Despite being described as “jacked.” A jacked black guy with a good job could have his pick of black women.

I don’t know yet what category of rage this falls under.

  1. Doesn’t sound like Incel Rage.

    • Roid rage, possibly.

  3. government employee? good chance he’s black.

    May 31, 2019 at 10:58 PM

    • A black engineer who could only get hired by the gubmint. Sounds about black!

      Ok, what, who's this again?

      June 1, 2019 at 9:46 AM

      • Called it. Now I know why Twitter only has #virginiabeachstrong this morning, not #graballguns.

        June 1, 2019 at 10:39 AM

      • Why should we assume he couldn’t get hired in the private sector? Engineering degrees aren’t easy to get. Could he have “affirmative-actioned” his way to a degree?

        Maryk (the g-loaded guidette)

        June 1, 2019 at 6:24 PM

      • A good question to ask is that why do people work for the gubmint instead of the private sector?

There are a number reasons, and one of them is lower hiring standards, and for blacks, it’s also less discriminatory.

        Ok, what, who's this again?

        June 2, 2019 at 10:14 AM

      • If you have a degree in civil engineering, then a large percentage of the available jobs are government jobs, and they are not horrible jobs, they pay a decent salary with great benefits and a 40-hour work week.

      • It’s also about status, because engineers who work for the private sector can brag about their gig at Northrop Grumman, Boeing, and other hardball engineering departments.

For blacks to get hire by these firms, where high IQ and competent Whites and Eastern Asiatics take precedence, the gov’t is a lot safer, where there is less stress, less stringent deadlines, less competition for promotion, and overall, lower quality controls and lower hiring standards.

        Ok, what, who's this again?

  4. The shooter, DeWayne Craddock, is black.

This story will be gone by Monday morning.

  5. I knew you would have a post on this. Whenever there is a mass shooting Lion is the place to go. The rest of the world focuses on guns whenever there is a shooting. Lion tries to figure out the personality of the shooter and what their motive was, that is more interesting than a gun control debate.

    • How many categories of rage shooters are there? I’ve thought of seven varieties (so far).

      1) Prole rage

      2) Incel rage

      3) Black rage

      4) LGBT rage

      5) SJW rage

      6) White supremacist rage

      7) Islamist rage

      Feel free to add more…

      • Guido rage – With his low brow racism and lack of intellect, and most importantly, with his inherent shorter fuse, he tends to light up at the slightest slight.

College Asian rage – There were a few Eastern Asiatics who went postal at the universities. They seem to be good at that, where as Whites tend to be teens and shoot up high schools. It could be from a HBD standpoint, given that Eastern Asiatics are cognitively slower at the aging process, since they exhibit infantile behaviors more frequently than Whites at the same age. From an evolutionary process, Eastern Asiatics live in collective societies that require their citizens to be “naive” and obliging.

        Ok, what, who's this again?

        June 1, 2019 at 9:35 AM

      • Roid rage, at least, as a contributing factor.

        June 1, 2019 at 1:27 PM

      • The interesting question is what makes Americans manifest their rage in the form of mass murder? There are many countries with enough weapons and there are other ways to mass murder by using a truck or a knife as many terrorists do. So why Americans “people of rage” can’t do whatever they do in other countries like muttering under their breath in a traffic jam or being passive aggressive towards their peers? were there such murders in the 50′? if not what have changed?

        June 1, 2019 at 3:25 PM

      • Wacko rage. Craddock is a black wacko.

        June 1, 2019 at 3:55 PM

      • > Eastern Asiatics

Sadly, the perfectly good word Oriental has been jettisoned from the lexicon.

        June 1, 2019 at 9:22 PM

      • The original rage: road rage. It’s understandable: “$%^&!!! That dumbass was trying to hit my car and kill me! ME! NOT ANYONE ELSE! @#$^ that @#$%!”

If you’ve never thought or said that, then you’ve never driven a car. It’s potent stuff.

The guy is crazier than a sack of rabid weasels.

        June 2, 2019 at 1:19 AM

      • Oriental is also defined as eastern and non-western. Islam is an “oriental” religion.

Middle Eastern Jews are called “Oriental” Jews which separates them from the Ashkenazim.

I wouldn’t use oriental for the slants of the Far East. The term is too generic and broad.

        Ok, what, who's this again?

      June 1, 2019 at 7:27 AM

    • Right.

When it comes to mass shootings, to me the most important issue is the shooter; who they are and their motivations. Our media mostly finds that irrelevant since guns are the real issue to them.

  7. This black guy is reported to have been fired from a position as a city public works “project manager,” and we all know how hard it us for anyone to get fured from a public sector job, let alkne a black guy. So I’m gonna guess he was either wildly incompetent and his co-workers just couldn’t take it anymore, or he raped somebody.

    June 1, 2019 at 12:06 AM

    • THIS. Same pattern as the Moneta, Virginia shooting in August 2015. Affirmative-action hire who couldn’t even jump over the already low bar.

      June 1, 2019 at 11:59 AM

    • A jacked black guy with a good job could have his pick of black women

      a. The pickings still aren’t that great
      b. Personality still counts for a lot, especially in an economy where women don’t need men to survive
      c. The fact that he was jacked means there is a good chance he is a closeted homosexual, and probably deeply frustrated/ashamed of himself.

      Peter Akuleyev

      June 1, 2019 at 12:10 PM

    • according to the New York Times he had not been fired. He had gotten into scuffles with employees and was about to be disciplined. I don’t know what this means.

He should have been suspended after the first violation and his security revoke to. He was able to get into the work area with no problems.

And let’s stop calling him a disgruntled employee. Indie Spirit of Larry Auster, that’s just newspaper bullshit speak.

He was a mesguggeneh guy whose bosses didn’t know what to do with him. That’s not a disgruntled employee.

      June 1, 2019 at 4:09 PM

  8. Obligatory “Thoughts and prayers”. Other than that nothing to see here. Happened before, for sure will happen again (a few more times this year possibly as we still got more than half year to go)

  11. Virginia Beach is 20% black.

According to CNN, Craddock’s title was “certified professional engineer for the city of Virginia Beach in the Public Utilities Department.”

The PE designation is not easy to achieve.

The Newport Daily Press article reported that “Craddock is a graduate of Old Dominion University with a Bachelor of Science in civil engineering.”

Old Dominion is a real school.

The City Engineer of my city is black; should I be worried?

    • Old Dominion is a real school, but real schools have tons of affirmative action, so that doesn’t mean anything.

The PE thing is something else. You seem to know more than I. There’s no way for an incompetent to bribe or use political influence to get that certificate?

      Vegas Orlando

      June 1, 2019 at 12:34 PM

      • The affirmative action types typically wash out of the hard majors within a year or so.

        June 1, 2019 at 1:44 PM

  12. If one of those people had been armed some of them might still be alive. I hope none of you never need a gun. But if you do then you’ll need it more than anything you’ve ever needed in your life.

    June 1, 2019 at 6:19 AM

  13. CNN has a detailed background of his story, where he once served in the military, which makes him prole:

Furthermore, working for the gubmint or any public utility is prole.

    Ok, what, who's this again?

    June 1, 2019 at 9:43 AM

    • Working for the gov’t as a civil engineer is definitely NOT prole. Even the largest local governments have only a handful of engineers and they are at the top of a very large employee heap.

I’m guessing this guy’s problems relate less to being black and more to being intelligent and maybe associated mental illness.

      June 1, 2019 at 11:46 AM

      • True, if he was fired, we don’t know if it was because of incompetence, a bad attitude, or because he had mental health issues that were affecting his job performance.

      • if he was fired

WaPo, 06/01/19: …Craddock was an active employee, city officials said while declining to discuss his employment history or personnel matters. Craddock used his badge to enter the offices that are open to the public. His office voice mail was still operating Friday evening…

Working for the gov’t as a civil engineer is definitely NOT prole.

Obtaining the PE is not easy, but the Civil Engineering major is the backup plan for students that can’t cut it in EE or ME.

Government civil engineers mostly just coordinate street closings, write requests for proposals, and give project status updates, while the contracted engineering and construction firms do the real work.

        Deplorable Prole

        June 1, 2019 at 2:37 PM

      • Prolish would be the word, if not prole. Working for the gubmint doesn’t require any credentials from a top school, just like working for the pole-lice doesn’t require anything from a prestigious school.

        Ok, what, who's this again?

        June 1, 2019 at 4:45 PM

    • Of course anyone could have predicted with 100% certainly that you’d consider him prole, but I’m honestly a little surprised that Lion thinks anyone who graduated from college is automatically not prole.

      June 1, 2019 at 11:56 AM

      • A college degree, especially from a real university and not a community college, is a bright line between prole and middle-class, with the possible exception of certain prole majors, but civil engineering is NOT a prole major.

      • Right, it’s not. Even if he didn’t use most of the math that he had to take in college he had to pass some pretty stiff mathematics courses.

I have relatives who washed out of engineering degrees. It’s brutally tough. Even if he graduated last in his class he accomplished something.

        June 1, 2019 at 4:02 PM

      • Yeah. There aren’t many dummies graduating with engineering degrees. And there are lots of people who are plenty smart who don’t make it all. I’m not saying the shooter was a genius. But if he was an engineer, even a civil, then he was above average.

        June 1, 2019 at 7:46 PM

  14. Mass shootings happen in the US because of sexually repressed populace.

    June 1, 2019 at 10:57 AM

    • Isn’t the Anglosphere based on puritanical principles, hence it’s harder for an English speaker to express themselves than let’s say a Germanic or a Frenchman who grew up Catholic?

There is no need to compare an Anglo with a Mediterranean.

      Ok, what, who's this again?

      June 1, 2019 at 4:50 PM

  15. I just looked him up in the Virginia online license database. He was indeed a licensed PE. That’s not a credential that you can get via affirmative action.

Typically a potential PE needs a four-year engineering degree and then needs to take the Fundamentals of Engineering exam, work in an engineering role for at least several years, and then take the PE exam.

The FE and PE exams are not jokes. I know a solid, experienced engineer who barely got licensed because he struggled to pass and needed to retest multiple times. Craddock was legitimately pretty smart.

    June 1, 2019 at 1:24 PM

  16. He sounds weirdly introverted for a black guy.

The only solution is for the government to roundup all introverts for execution.

      June 1, 2019 at 5:30 PM

  17. Saw a news story based on interviews of shooters neighbors. He was married but his wife left him a number of years ago. Was very quiet and polite with neighbors but no one ever saw any visitors.

    June 1, 2019 at 1:34 PM

  18. Wow, the NY Times has a story titled, “Who Is DeWayne Craddock, the Suspect in the Virginia Beach Shooting?” And you cannot determine from that story that he is black. There is no picture. There is not the slightest hint that he’s black. And there are no comments allowed on the story for someone to set the record straight.

I’m not surprised, but it’s still a thing to behold how deliberately they are hiding key information.

    June 1, 2019 at 3:58 PM

    • Right. What is the point of having an article titled “Who Is DeWayne Craddock?” when you conceal the answer to that question?

      June 2, 2019 at 6:45 AM

  19. I just had an experience which illustrates the truth of Yakov’s “what this country needs is a fascist ..” I’m stuck in traffic waiting to make a right turn and a car pulls up on my with rap coming out the needlessly lowered passenger window. The car is a BMW i8, $160k. The driver is a smooth-faced white guy about 27 wearing a sweater vest (!) I ask him why he has to inflict that stuff on everyone else, and he says, “are you fucking kidding me? That’s Tupac! He’s a poet! He’s a revolutiknary!”

    June 1, 2019 at 4:19 PM

    • That sounds like a good opportunity to dispose of some garbage. Just toss it through his needlessly lowered passenger window and drive off.

      June 1, 2019 at 8:08 PM

  20. A professional engineer with a solid job living in an apartment complex otherwise inhabited by twentysomethings with roommates is odd.

    June 1, 2019 at 4:48 PM

  21. If there is a pattern with black spree/rampage shooters, it seems one constant is that they are ex-military.

Colin Ferguson is the only major exception that comes to mind.

    June 1, 2019 at 5:27 PM

  22. Since it’s not white guy with an NRA cap, it won’t get the media attention it deserves.

    June 1, 2019 at 7:09 PM

  23. Are names that ends in « -addock » common in the USA ? Craddock, Paddock …

    June 1, 2019 at 11:00 PM

    • I don’t think they are particularly common . Craddock is a Welsh name, and Paddock is English. Lots of people from all over the British Isles came to America.

I suppose black people with Eurpean names are named for a slave owner of an ancestor.

      June 2, 2019 at 1:49 AM

  24. MK Ultra drone.

    June 2, 2019 at 1:37 AM

  25. “A jacked black guy with a good job could have his pick of black women.”

He also would have access to many white, Hispanic or Asian women. I’m not going to guess percentages of each group except to say that they’d be non-trivial. A well-built Alpha white male won’t have as many options in racial terms. While he will have his pick of white women and can do pretty well with Asian women, he has more limited access to Hispanic women (more access in places like California and Texas, less in the Northeast) and very little access to black women.

    June 2, 2019 at 9:18 AM

    • I was under the impression that Hispanic women don’t discriminate against white men. Is that impression wrong?

      • There was a very attractive Peruvian woman who worked at my workplace for a while who used to flirt with me (a white man.) However, she already had a kid, so she may have been looking for beta bucks.

        June 2, 2019 at 2:42 PM

    • When I lived in Miami, in my mid-20s to mid-30s, I dated several very attractive Cuban women, and was briefly engaged to one; also dated a few South American women. Several family members said one S. American woman (half Dutch/Half SE Asian ) from Suriname was the most beautiful woman they had ever seen. I had to walk out of the restaurant on one Colombian when another patron told me she was doing coke in the ladies room.

I got a noticeable amount of interest from attractive Caribbean and American black females, but never pursued it further.

I’m not muscular or specifically alpha, but 6-1, clean-cut, fit, trim, lean, financially secure, handy around the house, and with decent-enough facial features (I guess). And, at the time, happened to frequent many places where these woman also were at (which seemed to be everywhere).

I still say the most exotically beautiful women are found at the Miami International Airport. The most beautiful all-American woman are at the University of Florida.

      E. Rekshun

      June 2, 2019 at 4:41 PM

    • From a HBD and historical standpoint, being a successful black person is a bug, not a feature.

Just like albinism is an anomaly, and not the normative feature of humans.

      Ok, what, who's this again?

      June 2, 2019 at 6:23 PM

Steve Sailer divides mass shooters into two camps.

“Suicide Mass Shooters who stick around to finish off wounded at the personal cost of dying or going to prison for life. Suicide Shooters tend to be white or Asian, although the Virginia Beach guy was black.”

“Murder Mass Shooters who wound many while trying to kill a rival or two, then flee to escape the law. Murder Shooters and their victims tend to be black. These shooters don’t particularly want to kill innocent bystanders, but they don’t care if they happen to kill someone in trying to kill the guy who made them angry. But they won’t hang around to kill the wounded if they might get caught.”
