Who’s watching the debate?

I think I will just wait for the highlights to show up on YouTube.

Here’s a highlight from 2012 of Obama making fun of Romney for saying that Russia is a threat to America:

“… a few months ago when you were asked, what’s the biggest geopolitical threat facing America, you said Russia — not al-Qaida, you said Russia. And the 1980s are now calling to ask for their foreign policy back because, you know, the Cold War’s been over for 20 years.”

  1. The way they split up the candidates is annoying. Tonight is… Warren and a bunch of no-hopers? All the ones I care about (Biden, Sanders, Harris, Buttigieg, and Yang) are on Thursday.

Maybe they’re doing this on purpose to boost Warren by giving her more attention?

    • That would make a lot of sense.
If it is a round-robin type thing, Warren is sure to continue. Yang will probably be eliminted.

    • Yeah, boosting Warren seems like the only theory that makes sense.

IIRC in the past, when not ignoring the second-tier candidates entirely, they’d lump them all together in one debate. This is the best use of everyone’s time. The downside of this approach is people only watch the first-tier debate. So there’s some logic to spreading the first-tier candidates across two nights, to maximize ratings. But from a ratings standpoint, you’d want the most even division possible of first-tier candidates, so everyone feels they MUST watch both nights.

    • I never thought I would like something Cory Booker said but I liked his criticism of “thoughts and prayers” after mass shootings. That is such a cliche thing ro say and it solves nothing…it just gives people the warm-n-fuzzies.

    • Romney was always a worthless douche. David Stockman has a pretty good article somewhere about his destruction of American companies and jobs. He never produced anything in his life of any value.

  6. With a couple exceptions like maybe Tulsi Gabbard, I wish just about everyone could be drowned and never heard from again. All anti-American, all anti-gun, all open borders, all for some sort of free something to the ignorant masses. Ditto for any of their supporters. ‘Duh’-mocracy at it’s best.

    June 26, 2019 at 7:43 PM

    • Agreed on Tulsi. I’m also tempted to start paying attention and get informed because this sucker is clearly wide open. Smoke filled rooms at the convention obviating the primaries are totally possible. I am still thinking about buying Howard Schultz call options. The D candidates are all horrible. If they try to run another stooge, Schultz may actually win the presidency as an independent.

The formula is so obvious and easy! Stop immigration, promote domestic industrial jobs, no stupid wars. It’s that simple. A motivated independent billionaire can totally unseat Trump.

      • of course she’s anti-gun, she’s a left-wing liberal. But I heard that she did quite well, and that she was the star of the show. Not surprising as she is extremely well spoken, has a few good positions, and is damn good looking.

        June 27, 2019 at 6:37 PM

      • I don’t think Gabbard is that far left. I even agree with some of her positions though certainly not all. Regardless, she’s probably the least nuts of the bunch. I think she’s competent. But I don’t think she has the experience, connections or infrastructure. She’d just end up being a figurehead for others who control the political machinery. Most politicians are. But that would be particularly true for someone as young and inexperienced as her.

        June 28, 2019 at 5:19 AM

      • Gabbard has zero chance of getting the nom. So it’s a moot point.

I just think it’s hilarious how MSM (that is its name, I didn’t make it up) called Warren the clear winner, when from everything I hear (left right & center) it was Gabbard who made the biggest impression despite having the least amount of talk minutes.

I know that it gets kinda dull, and everyone here agrees w/me, but the MSM is total shit. They will probably get the weather reports wrong soon.

      • Don’t waste your money on Schultz. His positions are basically Obama-like, which used to be liberal, but in the current Democratic Party, are fairly regressive. If he were serious, he would have run as a Democrat. The reason he didn’t is because he hired Steve Schmidt, McCain’s old campaign manager. I bet Schmidt didn’t want to run a Democratic campaign and talked Schultz into running as an independent. He lost all chance as soon as he made that stupid decision. But Schmidt will still make millions.

    • Russia goes out of it’s way to harass, antagonize and undermine the west whenever possible i.e. Syria, Iran, South America, etc. But they’re too small to be a direct threat. They’re more of an indirect threat for the headaches they cause and shit they stir up. The Russiagate thing is still hysteria though.

  13. So far these Thursday night debates are much more interesting! Lots of drama with multiple candidates, especially Harris, attacking Biden for his old senate record. Marianne Williamson is entertainingly crazy. Yang has been disappointing, looking like he needs more practice at being on TV, but at least he said “ass”. I think that’s the first time I’ve heard a swear word in a presidential debate.

    • I did not watch these initial debates, because it’s a pageantry. For libertarians and intellectual types supporting the Yang Gang, it’s time to give it up. Meriprolestan is just a happy go lucky prole state with bouts of knee-jerk, reactive fits.

Astrological predictions have made certain that Trump is our final president. So what does this bode in the future? Anarchy, Armageddon, Dystopia, just the end of times for this country.

        June 28, 2019 at 9:30 PM

      • Staten Island is an unattractive place to live if one compares it to an expensive liberal center.

But given the guido wealth on the island that far exceeds any prole nook in Wonder Bread County, when sh!t hits the fan in real country, many would consider Staten Island a viable place to live.

        Ok, what. who's this again?

        June 29, 2019 at 1:08 PM

      • JS, you must know that I occasionally make comments just to provoke you.

        Maryk (the g-loaded guidette)

        June 30, 2019 at 6:55 PM

      • Staten Island has the highest median household income out of the 5 boroughs. Quite shocking for a place known as “the forgotten” borough, which often becomes a subject of ridicule for its crass guido culture and low brow residents by no other than the ex-Staten Islander, Lion of the Blogosphere. But also not surprising, given that in Manhattan, low income NAMs are almost half of its population, which is even more shocking than Staten Island, being the wealthiest borough in NYC.

On a sunny day, I would rather live among proles of Northern European ancestry in Greater Meriprolestan, with their unassuming, straight face, bland and boring lives instead of the garrulous, greasy, guidos in Staten Island with their shenanigans, who are by far wealthier than their Wonder Bread brethren in real America. But on a rainy day, wonder bread proles can get really ugly, far uglier than being on the wrong side of the fence with any guido. You watch the news, and it’s usually these types of proles that murder their entire family over a trivial matter or go postal, because they have a mental illness stemming from a lack of social cohesion. Northern Europeans aren’t as tight with their families like Italians and Jews, and they suffer more, socially and financially.

        Ok, what, who's this again?

        June 30, 2019 at 10:08 PM

  14. Wow…

    What a clown show…

So, basically, the Democrat position is to invite the entire world to live in the United States, tax Americans to death, and then shower the illegal aliens with the riches that they taxed.

And Biden is actually dumb enough to argue that bringing these millions under US healthcare is actually cheaper for Americans because these people somehow pay taxes to cover the costs.

None of these people belong in a presidential race…at least, not in this country.

    They belong in Gitmo.

The sad thing is that the demographics have shifted enough in this country that they could win on that.
