Advice to Tom Steyer: don’t waste your money

A billionaire I never heard of until today, Tom Steyer, says he is going to run for the Democratic nomination and spend $100 million of his own money.

My advice to Tom is that instead of wasting your money like this, you should give some of it to me. I can use it! You have zero chance of winning the Democratic nomination no matter how much money you spend, and $100 million isn’t that much money. Jeb Bush raised more than that, plus he had name recognition and was considered next-in-line by the party bigwigs, but still he lost the nomination.

Hardly anyone knows who you are (except for hardcore Democratic Party operatives), plus the image of a white male billionaire is totally at odds with what today’s Democratic Party is looking for. Your fellow white male billionaire, Michael Bloomberg, who has more name recognition and real political experience (as Mayor of the largest city in America), realized he has no chance of winning the Democratic nomination.

  1. I, for one, welcome Tom Steyer into the race. The more money he spends on his campaign the less money he’ll be spending on his impeachment PAC, or any of the other crazy causes he donates to. Just let him spend and spend until every dime is gone.

  2. His candidacy is proof that Democrats, especially the Toos, still don’t understand why Trump won. They think Trump won because he was a billionaire or because he was a reality star. Alternatively they like to believe that it was because Trump spoke to racists, and if only a billionaire businessman cane along who spoke the voice of reason they could unseat him. The truth is that Trump won because people were sick of being lied to by an elite who held them in disdain. Until they figure out how to connect with voters I’d place Trump’s chances of winning re-election at well over 70%.

I believe Epstein was a Mossad asset. I think that most of his work for the Mossad was done from 1999 to 2001, when Ehud Barak was prime minister. He has become an embarrassment, so Bibi decided to cut him loose. that plus a perfect storm confluence of events that no one could predict, resulted in the arrest.

This will all have to be handled very carefully.

      • The story keeps getting stranger.

Ann Coulter, who I realize is Ann coulter, (i.e. sometimes devastatingly accurate and sometimes eccentrically wrong), points out that Acosta is not the bad guy in her latest column. She says that he only got involved on the federal level because the state prosecutors weren’t doing their job.

Also, I read in a column on reason.com that the crimes for which Epstein is accused were much more difficult to prove In 2008. The feds passed a law in 2015 making these crimes much easier to prosecute. So the agreement is much more explicable once these facts are taken into account.

Second, while it’s fun to think he was blackmailing people, and I did think that for a while, why would anyone bang an underage girl in the home of a known blackmailer? Isn’t that kind of a self-limiting business model? is Bill Clinton really that stupid?

By the way, where did you read that there were cameras on his property? Is there any proof of this?

You really should read this. It goes into detail how Krischer fucked up the case, and what a POS Dershowitz is. Acosta doesn’t seem so bad, in context, although I do think you should be fired because it just doesn’t look good. But maybe the Don is keeping him around precisely so that we can focus on Kreepy Krischer. Hopefully that will happen in the next few days.

@Lion, Epstein’s closest business associate is Leslie wexner. In effect wexner gifted Epstein that 77 million dollar mansion on the upper East side. Wexner is closed associates with Ehud Barak. His foundation basically funneled a couple of million dollars to Barak while Barak was a private citizen, for no particular reason. The wexner foundation was set up to Foster close ties between the US and Israel.

      • Based on the evidence, the logical options are:

        1) He trafficked underage girls to powerful people to ingratiate himself to them and filmed them because he got off on watching.

        2) He trafficked underage girls to powerful people so that he could blackmail them for his own personal gain.

        3) He trafficked underage girls to powerful people so that he could blackmail them on behalf of others.

The first and second sound the most plausible. I’d say that both are correct. However, the scope of this trafficking was enormous. He was a billionaire. So it’s hard to believe he was doing this for money. It’s also hard to believe he could have gotten away with a slap on the wrist, sealed court records and no one else being prosecuted if he wasn’t getting outside help. Even if he was smart, rich and had incriminating evidence on a lot of powerful people, it’s just hard to believe that one guy could pull that off.

I knew a former marine who had provided security for US embassies, including the US embassy in China. He told me some of the stuff they tried to pull. One of the most common was the “honey trap”. It was so common that everyone was told, if a woman hits on you, just assume it’s a trap. My friend said that while he was there, one of the diplomats got caught in one. And the guy knew! That’s the thing. He knew it was probably a trap and still did it! Yeah, it turned out to be a setup. But, to his credit, when they tried to blackmail him he reported it. And that was the end of his career. My point is, this stuff absolutely happens.

A: “I’m not referring to calculus and physics high IQ. I am referring to basic common sense.”

Exactly! Just because someone can solve 3rd order partial differential equations doesn’t mean they have sense enough to pour piss out of a boot. There’s a lot more to common sense and good judgement than IQ. Especially when it comes to things like alcohol, drugs, money, sex, violence, ego, etc. Heck, look at all the “smart” people who have retarded social and political opinions. Some things bypass the prefrontal cortex where rational thought occurs. Rational thought has nothing to do with it.

Another aspect of rich people falling for such a trap is that while not all rich people are degenerates enough are that it doesn’t raise suspicions. Look at Michael Jackson, Bill Cosby, Harvey Weinstein, Roman Polanski, etc. No one who knew them cared what any of them did until they got caught. Heck, they still don’t care what Polanski did. Do you think any of them care that Martha Stewart was throwing orgies? I’ll refer back to one of my earlier comments on a post discussing this. https://lionoftheblogosphere.wordpress.com/2013/07/14/ivy-league-hookup-culture/#comment-18123

“The article also mentions a class divide where the wealthiest are among the trashiest. That goes along with what I’ve repeatedly said — many elitists are degenerates who do things that would make a truck stop whore blush. The reason is simple — they’re sheltered from the consequences of their actions. They can mess up and their family’s money & connections will save them. By contrast, if a working or middle class kid messes up it could mean a dead end job.”

  20. Here’s a variation on the typical chix-and-gunz video. At the age of just 11, that is correct, 11, Zoe shoots a rifle in 270 Winchester and shoots it very well. One of the top-selling hunting rounds for decades, the 270 may not be at the 600 Nitro Express level but is certainly way too powerful for newer shooters of any age, even strong adult men. They wouldn’t be able to hit the side of a barn if they were standing inside it at the time. But Zoe can manage it because Dad taught her well. As he says near the beginning of the video, he started her off with a rifle in 243 Winchester, a less powerful round that’s a common “starter” round for young people. Dad definitely did a good job.

Oh, and here’s what it’s like to shoot an actual 600 Nitro Express, though the shooter is definitely not an 11-year-old girl. In fact I couldn’t find any videos of women of any age shooting one, maybe women have more common sense.

Children gain both weight and height but sometimes the weight gain starts earlier than the height gain, and they can be overweight for a while before height catches up. Apparently not in this case. There was a video on Dad’s channel of him fishing with Zoe a couple months ago, this shooting video was from September 2017, and she seems to be built about the same.

    • 270 is a very sensible bean field cartridge. With the right bullet, reasonable range and proper shot placement it’s adequate for any non-dangerous game. In North America that would be buffalo and big bear. I wouldn’t hesitate to use it on either elk or moose.

PS: Her dad is a clod for not having ear muffs.

      • There’s no question that that 270 is one of the all-time great hunting cartridges. It’s been around for over 90 years and remains a top seller worldwide. That being said, it’s too powerful for newer shooters, whether adults or children. It’s something you work your way up to after at least a year or two of using less powerful calibers.

      • “It’s something you work your way up to after at least a year or two of using less powerful calibers.”

Start with a lighter bullet at reduced velocity. 270 shooting 120gr at 2600 has similar recoil to 243 shooting 95gr at 3100. The advantage is not needing to upgrade your rifle. Not that there’s anything wrong with having a second rifle in 243. But it’s not necessary for lighter recoil.

  21. Lion, why did you say that Steyer should give some of his money to you? Were you claiming you could do something unusually productive with it? If you were black and made this request you’d be accused by many conservatives of having a case of “the gibsmedats.” Please clarify. …………….(Of course it’s possible that you were just joking and I took you too literally. I’ve done that in the past and ended up looking silly.)

    • The rent is too damn high, especially in Manhattan. Lion doesn’t mind a gimme dat to pay for his rent.

Many welfare inducing NAMs get to live in Manhattan under gov’t subsidies.

Anyone, tell me, what is the point to this? These NAMs neither participate nor have any interest in Manhattan’s cultural life doled out by White people, despite given such opportunities. Or maybe not, could you imagine a NAM from a nearby hood stepping foot in an artisanal sandwich shop run by a bunch of gentrifying hipsters? They would freak out as if this guy was trying to rob them.

America is no joke, this country should be destroyed, if not partitioned up based on demographics!

      Ok, what, who's this again?

    • I’d like to read a Lion scifi novel.

July 10, 2019 at EDT am

      • There’s half of a novella out there written under a pseudonym. I really ought to finish it.

        Here’s a sample:

I woke up in the middle of the night, in the back seat of Mercedes. (From now on, I’m just calling the car Mercedes.) I looked out the window to see where we were, but I just saw a dark highway. Cherry was asleep on my left, her head leaning against me. She felt so human. If I thought about it logically, robots don’t sleep, so this was just part of her programming to make you think she was a real person. But I still wasn’t thinking that logically, having just woken from the worst night in my life.

So maybe she’s a sexbot, and the idea of sexbots kind of infuriates me, but she was providing me the companionship and emotional comfort that I needed right now. I decided to forget about the main purpose for which she was manufactured.

It occurred to me, suddenly, that one of the big advantages robots have over humans is that there are certain biological things that robots don’t have to do. To no one in particular, I said, “I have to go to the bathroom.”

Mercedes said, “There is a service station with a bathroom four miles ahead. Would you like me to stop there?”

“Sure, if that’s OK,” I said.

“That’ll be fine,” said Rob, “we need to fill up with gas anyway.”

Most cars these days are electric, but they still haven’t figured out how to make electric cars that can travel long distances without a time-consuming recharge cycle every time the batteries are drained. Mercedes, being an expensive car for rich people, had a gasoline engine built into it for long trips. I guess it was pretty lucky that Rob had a car like this for a friend.

I’ve never actually seen a car get filled up with gas before. My mother isn’t rich enough to own her own car, either gas or electric. And when you take a taxi somewhere, they never stop to fill up with gas or to recharge. So I watched with interest as Mercedes exited from the highway and drove into the service station. There was only one other vehicle at the service station, a driverless truck.

There was a robot standing next to the gas pumps, pointing to one of the pumps. Mercedes drove over and stopped in front of that gas pump. There was also a second robot which was attending to the truck, and it ignored us.

The service station was a completely automated business. There were no humans present at all, except for me. That’s why so many people today don’t have jobs and have to live off of welfare. In the past, trucks and cars had human drivers, and the service stations had human employees who took their money. But today, a driverless truck pulls up to the service station, and a robot pumps gas into the truck. And then it’s all paid for electronically. No humans involved.

While the robot assigned to our car began the work of opening the gas-tank cover and placing the nozzle into it, I got out of Mercedes to head for the women’s room, which was clearly marked.

“Do you want me to come with you?” asked Cherry.

“No, that’s OK, I can do it myself,” I replied.

The bathroom, of course, was perfectly clean and smelled fresh. I’ve been told that in the days before robots, bathrooms were often smelly and dirty, because the human employees were too lazy to clean them regularly. But robots are tireless and never shirk their responsibilities. So today, wherever there are robots that are programmed with janitorial skills, there are clean bathrooms. Also, with so many of the cars and trucks on the road having no people in them at all, there were fewer people to get the bathrooms dirty in the first place.

  22. Remember the movie Brewster’s Millions, in which Brewster has to spend $30 million in 30 days and one of the ways he does it is by running for Mayor of New York?

Also, the new wisdom is that it’s better to spend money on experiences rather than things. Thus, Steyer would not be wasting his money, because running for President is self-actualizing.

    I could too!

Heck, that’s enough money that even if everyone who commented to this post here received an equal cut of it, we’d still be sitting pretty!

The thing I heard echoed a lot is his takes on automation and robotics, which are completely divorced from reality.
