According to pundits, despite Joe Biden’s gaffe at the end confusing a website URL with his texting number, he did better than in the first debate even though not great. That’s probably good enough for him to stay in the lead.

  3. Joe leads in the polls. That’s no LOL. Either many White Americans are inherently stupid and/or inadvertently tribal. If you are tribal, Trump is a better candidate.

    Ok, what, who's this again?

    • I heard Joe Biden was very centrist in his positions last night on border defense, healthcare, etc. He was almost the only non-far left candidate of the group. Doesn’t matter, he’s the last of a dying breed. Angry Kamala Harris stamping on your face is the future.

      • No way that Kamala Harris wins a showdown with Trump. Proles who are disaffected with the orange hair will vote for him again due to tribal fears of blacks giving it to the man.

So what explains those benighted whites without tribal fears.

They have money like those who live in Manhattan, insulated from wealth.

  4. A truly boring debate. They needed Marianne Williamson, who livened up the first debate. Or maybe we can get that “The Rent Is Too Damn High” guy who used to run for mayor of New York, and livened up those debates. Otherwise i predict that their audience will shrink to zero until we get to the big one between Trump and whoever survives this. Trump is never boring.

  5. After all these years of Trump bashing it is refreshing to see the Democrats beating each other to a pulp. Last night was the best. There was some genuine animosity between the candidates. Having too many Dems running was the best thing that could have happened to Trump.

Of the top Democrats I still think Biden would have the best chance of beating Trump so I like that all the Dems are tearing him down. I think Kamala Harris would be the weakest candidate. Independents will not vote for her. Proles in states like Pennsylvania will not vote for her either. I would love for her to be the nominee but she didn’t that great last night.

  6. I used to think that a doddering old fool like Biden couldn’t possibly get the Dem nomination. I figured his support would fizzle as his overwhelming name-recognition advantage went away and as he kept making gaffes.

But maybe he’ll coast his way into the nomination. The top-tier competitors are all pretty crazy, and the less crazy competitors are having a tough time getting traction.

The most interesting development in the latest debate was Gabbard’s attack on Kamasutra. If there’s any truth to Gabbard’s claim that Kamasutra suppressed evidence that a guy on death row was innocent, that should destroy any support that Kamasutra has among voters who are not stupid scum themselves.
But there may be enough stupid scum around to keep Kamasutra in the running.

  7. Last night was a sound byte goldmine for the Republican Party. They spent two straight hours bashing the front runner and criticizing everything he has ever done. Can’t wait to see the “Look What Democrats Think About Joe Biden” next year.

      • Right, Tucker had fun with his “Joe’s position then and now” segment, but his show is probably not influential in the Democratic primaries and stuff like that will never be shown on MSNBC. They are still staunchly pro-Biden because they think he has the best chance to take out Trump (?) but they are also preparing for a Harris future.

      • Despite the myth that marijuana makes people peaceful, it’s actually linked to violence. People don’t realize it because it puts users in a lethargic stupor. So they’re not violent while they’re high. But long-term use causes changes in the brain (aka brain damage) that makes people more violent later on. Of course, every pothead will vehemently deny it. Just like every alcoholic will deny they have a drinking problem.

    • Speaking of Central Park and NYC in general. It’s just a microcosm of what Meriprolestan ought to become with great success, except Greater Meriprolestan is boring as a fly.

Boring, because you don’t get to see dark vibrants smoking weed in a playground, surrounded by White billionaires and multi-millionaires.

  9. Looks like Democratic primaries for 2020 are going to be a replay of Republican primaries from 2016. The establishment is to the left of the voters. The candidate furthest to the right will stand out, while the ones on the left will dilute each other’s support, and spend all their time attacking the candidate to the right, who will eventually win the nomination who’s `gaffes` never really mattered.

So will Lion predict a Biden win in 2020? I’d still put it no higher than 49%, since so many things can go wrong for a candidate who’s not an incumbent and still has to fight their way through the entire primary process.

  11. What is the derivation of the name Kamala? It sounds really black. I learned a fun fact, reading The Washing of the Spears, a history of the 1879 Zulu war. You think the Zulu king Shaka had an easy-to-pronounce, phonetic-looking name? So do 100% of U.S. blacks, and so did I, until I read that it was pronounced oo-SHA-ge.

    • I think “Kamala” is Indian. It’s weird. We’re treating her as a black woman even though she’s half Indian and is probably about as black as George Zimmerman.

      • I’ve noticed some people seem to think any exotic-sounding female name is black. Presumably this happens in people who hardly have any exposure to blacks growing up. My own father was like this. I remember my brother and I as teenagers in the nineties talking about Celine Dion, and our father saying “Celine? What kind of name is that? She must be black?” I think he heard it as “Saleen.”

I can’t describe in any systematized way the particular characteristics of a name that make it “black-“sounding, but I will say I think of the archetypal black female name as having three syllables, with the accent on the middle syllable, and the three vowel sounds being ə-i-ə, with the ə representing a letter “a.” Examples are Tamika, Lakisha, Shaniqua, Rashida, etc. My high school was about 10% black and it seemed like all the black girls had names like that.
