Had Drudge gone anti-Trump?

This is really big. If Drudge has abandoned Trump, it doesn’t bode well. Drudge is a go-to site for conservatives. The lack of any pro-Trump links should be very disconcerting for Trump supporters.

  1. Fellow homosexual Andrew Sullivan did something similar during the Bush years. Must be a gay thing.

    October 2, 2019 at 4:05 PM

    • Whats wrong with being a homosexual. Please tell me. I’m interested to understand your bigotry.

      • He didn’t say there was anything wrong with being a homosexual. I’m interested to understand your paranoia.

        October 3, 2019 at 2:41 PM

      • Because humans aren’t biologically built to have same sex relations and attempting to do so spreads disease in from the homo to hetero populations. Homos provide no long-term social benefit to society, as a group, and so shouldering that increase in disease transmission from sexually aberrant preference is not something that the hetero population should be forced to endure.

Homosexuals inevitably attempt to force social changes that are bad for normative, reproductive society and therefore long-term bad for society as those changes affect the culture intergenerationally. In doing so, they enforce a bigotry against what is good for most of society versus their small cadre of sexual deviants.

So, in your support of homosexuals, why are you bigoted against traditional social norms that have been long-term good for most of society?

        October 3, 2019 at 4:17 PM

      • Sullivan turned against Bush after returning from a major gay event (I don’t remember what it was called); it’s entirely possible the same could happen with Drudge (assuming he’s gay. I didn’t know he was). I’m not sure why acknowledging that would be bigotry; I wouldn’t find it very surprising.

      • Mike really knocked that one out of the park. Good job.

  3. Drudge has been promoting anti-Trump stuff forever.

    October 2, 2019 at 4:25 PM

  4. I don’t think Drudge was ever pro Trump.

    October 2, 2019 at 4:25 PM

  5. Trump misspelled moat as moot in a recent tweet (since fixed). Lol

I would LOVE to see a moat filled with alligators and snakes, how cool would that be? Build the moat!

    • I’d like to see killer robots on the border. And just to make the liberals (and Leon) happy, the robots should beat them to death with a golf club instead of using guns.

  6. Drudge took off during the Lewinsky scandal when anti-Clinton people were looking for anything and everything to undermine Clinton. Maybe Drudge thinks the best way to keep his brand alive is to go back to what made him big in the first place… throwing meat to the president-haters.

    October 2, 2019 at 5:37 PM

    • Drudge was a piece of shit then and he’s a piece of shit now.

The nearest parallel to Trump politically would be Bill Clinton.

MAGA is about taking America back to 1998 b4 Dubya/Barry.

  7. Meh…Drudge is a news aggregator. He does a good job sampling what the lefty media is talking about.

The Washington Post was surprised that Drudge was covering impeachment.

Citizens free press is what you imagine drudge to be.

  8. Most ‘conservatives’ I know watch FOX compulsively. I don’t, but I’m more of a reactionary.

  9. He was anti-Trump back in 2016, which is why I stopped going to his site.

    October 2, 2019 at 6:28 PM

  10. i’ve gone to Drudge for news for many years, but lately can’t stand it. Drudge is now pro-impeachment, anti-Trump,e all the time. Please give me recommendations for other news sites. I like Breitbart, and would like to know of other general news sites w/ a conservative bent.

  14. Matt Drudge is a libertarian and any SWPL conservative hates prole-publicans.

    Ok, what, who's this again?

    October 2, 2019 at 9:40 PM

  15. I wonder if Drudge’s formula requires a certain low level obviousness to a claim, event or argument.

How many times can you say ‘Biden’s crooked cause his son got rich?’ It isn’t like there are a lot of developing revelations on Trump’s side. Drudge likes sensation. Things like the Smollett revelations.

  16. Bernie is out of the race. Maybe not formally but in practice, yes.

    Next stop: myocardial infarction.

    • I think Warren benefits from Bernie’s heart attack.

      October 5, 2019 at 10:21 AM

      • Read this:

Warren def. benefits but will it matter in South Carolina? Biden may not be a genius but he’s been around and he knows if he can pull out a win in South Carolina, he’s back in the game. Blacks don’t care about Hunter Biden. Not even sure they care about impeachment.

        October 7, 2019 at 12:44 PM

      • Sounds like Rudy’s failed Florida strategy from 2008.

        Lion of the Blogosphere

        October 7, 2019 at 1:25 PM

      • Did you actually read the link? It’s nothing of the sort. South Carolina is crucial and Biden leads there.

        October 7, 2019 at 4:32 PM

      • I get it, but my point is that if Sander’s voters have to choose another candidate, they are way more likely to choose Warren over Biden. Southern primary Black Democratic voters will of course prefer Biden to Warren, but they are voting for whoever the nominee is.

  17. Drudge’s influence is a shell of what it used to be. Anyone who is “in” to politics enough to visit Drudge also follows Twitter or Youtube personalities that perform the function of spreading conservative news that Drudge used to fulfill.

    October 3, 2019 at 12:04 AM

  18. Its obvious that Drudge has changed hats
That’s his website and hid company. One wonders if he remembers the audience that put them in one of top news sites.
I used to Look at Drudge, multiple times a day. Today once maybe twice
It’s a shame their business model has changed. Best of luck

    • I used to visit Drudge daily to skim headlines and typically opened new tabs to 15 or 20 stories. But the number of interesting headlines has shrunk to 3 or 4. Most days I don’t even bother.

  19. As a black man I was looking at pictures of trumps white house office and noticed he got rid of St Martin Luther King! Wow. We worked so hard to defeat the evils of slavery only to have MLK’s bust removed by a RACIST white man. We need to elect another black man ASAP and put a bust of MLK or a more modern leader, like Travis Scott in there. Maybe we could even just put in a sculpture of a monkey eating its own shit – that could represent blacks really well.

  20. Trump supporters tend to turn on conservative media that try to go negative on Trump. They are not open to persuasion. You may remember there was a time in 2016 when Limbaugh started arguing Trump was a joke and was then quickly brought back in formula by his listeners.

    Peter Akuleyev

    October 3, 2019 at 8:58 AM

    • Indeed. So much for the liberal myth that conservatives get their marching orders from FOX and Limbaugh. As you correctly point out, pundits who turn on Trump are quickly brought to heel by their audience. Liberals are sheep. Conservatives not so much.

      October 4, 2019 at 1:23 AM

  21. Remember Fox News was initially anti-Trump but came around when they saw most of their viewers were more on board with the Trump nationalist wing of the GOP rather than the traditional Fox chamber of commerce wing.

I think Drudge is gambling wrong here and it will cost him. (I think the rationale for why Drudge is doing this is supposedly to present a consistent image as he got his name via obsessive [prez-negative] coverage of the Clinton impeachment saga).

    October 3, 2019 at 9:48 AM

  22. Is Drudge any worse than you putting your good stuff on Twatter out of reach of Twatter nonconformists?

    October 3, 2019 at 3:44 PM

    • Think about how nonpartisan Drudge looks when it is presenting the other sides arguments. That makes Trump’s position even stronger.
