Can a black woman be racist against Italians?

This NY Times article highlights the weirdness of extreme SJWism.

Everyone has some issue that is nonnegotiable, or off-limits.

For the actor Chazz Palminteri, that subject is apparently New York City’s decision to bypass Mother Cabrini, the patron saint of immigrants, in its round of new statues to honor women — even though she drew the highest number of votes in a nonbinding poll.

. . .

Among the women chosen to diversify the city’s crop of statues were the transgender activists Marsha P. Johnson and Sylvia Rivera, and Shirley Chisholm, who was elected in Brooklyn to serve as the first African-American congresswoman.

. . .

“The nomination process was never intended to be a popularity contest,” [Mayor De Blasio’s black wife] continued.

1. “Not a popularity contest.” Statues are chosen not by what the people want, but by what some SJW elitists want.

2. “the transgender activists Marsha P. Johnson and Sylvia Rivera” They aren’t even women. They are MEN who dressed up to look like women. If the goal is to create more statues of women, then how about statues of actual women like Mother Cabrini and not statues of MEN who dress up like women.

3. I’ve heard of Mother Cabrini because some stuff is named after her in New York City. She’s a pretty famous American woman, but I guess she’s famous for the wrong reason, for being Catholic (and the first American to become a saint). Better to have statues of men dressed up to look like women who are prominent for destroying the foundations of family values that people like Mother Cabrini built up.

4. Shirley Chisholm deserves a statue more than two transgender people do. It should be noted that she’s not a descendant of United States slaves, her parents were immigrants, and she spent part of her childhood in Barbados. Kind of reminds me of Obama, whose father was from Kenya and who spent part of his childhood in Indonesia.

  1. Chisholm is a descendant of slaves, just not black American ones.

As for the rest of this spectacle, I read Rod Dreher and he regularly features the latest in the TM (transgender madness). Unlike Rod I don’t think it will “end” unless there is complete societal collapse, and I don’t expect that anytime soon. In fact, even if there IS complete societal collapse, we’ll be paying for these useless crazy surgeries instead of necessary medical care, because we are just that crazy.

    • Please don’t tell me the US needs to make reparations for slaves held by non-UK colonies. Haiti? Brazil? How about reparations to descendants of Russian serfs?

Chisholm was a brilliant woman. She’s a great example of Auster’s rule. The pioneers are top flight and abide by accepted norms. Unfortunately after they open doors the crowd that follows them drags down the joint.

These people ‘built’ the country from nothing and were worked to death (30% mortality rate in first three years). But I understand the stories of blacks and others are more pressing even though blacks were an insignificant percent of the population for our first 100 years post colonization.

  2. Staten Island remains the most undesirable place in NYC given its racist north and south divide like a Mini-Meriprolestan.

Lower educated and low brow proles (often guidos) live in the northern regions of the borough, while surprisingly a substantial amount of prole blacks live in the southern areas.

    Ok, what, who's this again?

October 12, 2019 at EDT am

    • ??? none of this is accurate. Have you ever even been to SI?

The vast majority of blacks live on the north shore, but the south shore is no longer homogenously white/ guido. There has been a huge influx of southeast asians, muslims and russians on the south shore.

As far as it not being desirable, it’s very suburban and quiet so if you’re looking for urban excitement it’s not for you. But the residential streets, even on much of the north shore, are picturesque and safe. My street is regularly used as a ‘pretty street’ shot in film shoots.

In the words of John Pomfret, historian of colonial New Jersey, the Duke, around 1666, after his advisors scolded him for giving away New Jersey to Carteret and Berkeley, “did nothing beyond restoring Staten Island to New York” (The Province of East New Jersey 1609-1702. John E. Pomfret. Princeton University Press, 1962, page 27). You see, as anyone with a map can, that SI was always a part of NJ.

  4. I was at a teacher-parent meeting recently in the Midwest. The teacher running the thing asked us to introduce ourselves and give our pronouns. It was bizarre. We went around, and all the men said they were “he” and all the women said they were “she”. There was no point except to have us implicitly swear fealty to some SJW ideal.

I can’t see this catching on in the real world though. Has anyone gone to a meeting where verifying pronouns would be anything other than a pointless waste of time? I’m sure it happens, but how often?

And what’s the point of saying “he/him/his” anyway? Do people want different genders for their nominative, objective and possessive pronouns? “He/her/their” please!

    • It’s narcissistic to think other people have time to call you by any pronoun other than what you look like. Other people’s time and energy is not free.

I personally can barely keep track of what a transgender person is, when I read an article about one (rarely). I am smarter than average. In real life, you will almost never encounter anyone who even has the ability to refer you consistently by an unexpected pronoun.

It’s a convenient mechanism for the narcissist to stay constantly angry at the world, for not meeting an impossible expectation.

Mother Cabrini was a white heterosexual (we assume) woman, so she doesn’t rank high enough on the victim scale to get her own statue. This is really what Mrs. D was trying to say. Mother Cabrini might have had a chance if she was a lesbian, though. Palminteri most likely knows what’s going on, and is playing the race/ethnic card here. He knows that “Mother Smith” wouldn’t have fared any better against a transgendered person as the subject for a statue. If he wants to see some anti-Italian prejudice he has only to visit LOTB! • By the way, I was up in Lion’s way in the 50s and 9th today.

The place has become too prole, besides teeming with proles of people consisting of out of towners and in-town hipsters swarming the eating and drinking establishments, Hell’s Kitchen is literally a hell’s fire where every street block is littered with a eatery or a restaurant. It’s prole when a series of street blocks are all eating businesses.

Upper Hell’s Kitchen past the mid 50s is less prole (where I used to live) and thus more livable, because the restaurants are more spread out.

        Ok, what, who's this again?

“50s and 9th” is still one of the best places in NYC. If you can’t have a good time there, you can’t have one anywhere. Tourists are there, but only the better sort who venture away from Times Square. They’re often fun and interesting to talk to. It’s still mostly New York residents, and they’re not prole, whatever that means. I suspect it means nothing.

“Upper Hell’s Kitchen”? That’s a new micro neighb I’ve never heard of. They used to have a giant abandoned apartment building there, I think 9th and 56-57. Has it been rehabbed? Otherwise, nothing was going on there bar or restaurant wise.

      • A series of street blocks with every storefront that is for a foodie or a drunkard is prolish, and that’s what 9th Ave and much of the 50s resemble. A great place to have a great time if you’re in a hipster mood, yes, but a nightmare on a Fri and Sat night, if you live around there. There is a paucity of shops in Hell’s Kitchen, so it seems, but there is a gluttony n smuttering array of restaurants and bars.

I used to live on W. 57th and 9th Ave, which borders the area called the Upper West Side on 59th St. Not as populated with eating establishments, and it’s close to Central Park West and the Time Warner Center. This is what Lion should be aiming for. I’m not a Bobo (wealthy SWPL), but this area what I called the Upper Hell’s Kitchen, which is the beginning of Bobo Land (this is where the real wealth resides on the West Side), where as the lower part of Hell’s Kitchen is just another Hipsterville like the East Village.

October 14, 2019 at EDT am

      • The Windermere is an example of how NYC’s zoning laws screw everything up. The owner was a Japanese investor who gave up on the property and refused to pay his taxes after he was unsuccessful in being able to evict residents and tear it down.

Then some activists got it landmarked.

Despite the seeming sturdiness of the brick exterior, the interior was crumbling and unsalvageable, which is why it was condemned as unfit for human habitation.

      • If it’s unfit for habitation, then why are there refurbishing the structure? It should be teared down for a glass tower.

We’re almost in the 3rd decade of the 21st Century, and NYC just seems like a town full of tourists. Just walking on 9th Avenue, I can hear a gazillion foreign languages being spoken.

        Ok, what, who's this again?

October 14, 2019 at EDT pm

      • It WAS unfit for habitation, it appears that they tore down everything inside the building and built a whole new building inside the facade, which will be used as a hotel.

As far as why didn’t they do the much more efficient thing of tearing the whole thing down, because it was landmarked.
