Buttigieg soars into first place in polls

Actually second place overall, but in first place with white voters.

May I point out to you that Iowa and New Hampshire are both very white, and since early caucuses and primaries in those states, no candidate who has won both IA and NH has gone on to lose the nomination.

Looks like I was right to be more bullish on Buttigieg than just about all of the commenters. As the only white male top-tier who will be under the age of 78 when taking office, he’s in a very strong position.

* * *

Latest Emerson poll of NH also shows a Buttigieg surge while Warren drops.

The poll also shows that in NH, Buttigieg performs best in a one-to-one matchup against Trump.

  1. His near-complete lack of popularity among black voters will make it very difficult for him to get the nomination. In turn, Biden’s high levels of black support gives him a big advantage. Biden is so popular among blacks that Booker and Harris have barely made a dent in it.

    November 27, 2019 at 12:45 PM

    • He could pick a black person for running mate.

  2. It’s weird how fast Warren rose and fell. It doesn’t seem like anything really changed with her. I guess she just had a brief moment in the limelight and then the media got tired for her. That might happen to Butigieg too.

    November 27, 2019 at 12:58 PM

    • The last person to rise before Iowa and NH is the winner. Looks like that person might be Buttigieg.

    • People were scared away from Warren by Medicare for All (Sanders advocates that, too, of course). Polling shows even Democrats don’t want it.

      November 27, 2019 at 4:37 PM

    • It isn’t weird at all.

Warren is a fake candidate. She is the beneficiary of a “Trial Balloon” where they give a candidate enormous resources and advantages to see what they would do with it. Warren failed, judging by the internal polling these types really do…so they are now deflating her with the fake polls the public gets.

      November 27, 2019 at 6:29 PM

    • I do think her releasing the details of her Medicare for All plan, and how to pay for it, hurt her. It was too ridiculous. Meanwhile Bernie, who has an identical plan, is unscathed because he doesn’t bother with payment details, he’s simply gonna take it from the rich. That’s why she changed course and said she would implement her nightmare plan in her third year, i.e. never.

LOL. Lion thinks blacks = 3/5 of a white man.

  4. In the very recent Marquette poll from Wisconsin, Trump beat Buttigieg 47 to 39, the largest spread of any of the Democrat challengers (incidentallyTrump beat them all). Remember too that Wisconsin is a crucial state for the Dems. There’s also the little matter that the black community is feeling no love for the Buttman and the Dems aren’t going to win unless the blacks are mobilized.

    November 27, 2019 at 1:38 PM

    • Buttigieg is the only Democrat candidate who would be more embarrassing to have as president than Trump, the reality TV star. There is a large swathe of voters who will never vote for a gay man like Buttigieg. Maybe a very macho homosexual like Jack Donovan, but not Mayor Pete.

In the United States, most people expect the chief executive to project strength, so that we are respected overseas by leaders and nations that are more patriarchal than our own. This is a serious concern for many people, including proles and members of minority communities. It is part of the reason Hilary lost (although not the main reason, because she is actually about as strong seeming as a woman can be).

An open homosexual who borders on effeminate is a hard sell in the US. Trump would win against Buttigieg by a comfortable margin. Much more comfortable than the razor thin margin against Hilary.

      November 27, 2019 at 4:46 PM

    • As Andrew Dice Clay once said expressing mystification about male homosexuality “it’s a choice between hair pie or balls on your chin!” The public will be reminded of this contrast and will vote accordingly.

      November 28, 2019 at 12:07 AM

      • Today, of course, the hair pie reference is tragically obsolete.

  5. Only a gay sex tape leak can stop him now.

There’s gotta be a tape out there somewhere, right? If I were the Biden or any of the other top campaigns, that would be my number 1 priority right now: trying to find the tape.

    November 27, 2019 at 1:50 PM

    • Given it’s the Democratic Party nomination that Buttigieg is seeking, it would probably be more damaging to his candidacy if it was revealed that the mayor of South Bend is a closet heterosexual.

    • I think you have the right stick by the wrong end. The only 2 things that can stop him:
      1. Being found in bed with a live girl
      2. Being found in bed with a dead boy

      November 27, 2019 at 2:37 PM

    • You’ve got to be kidding, gays can get away with almost anything because they get to define what’s acceptable within the gay lifestyle. Once gay men come out and establishes themselves in public office, there’s very few censures placed on their behavior, because you know that would be homophobic. If there was even a whiff of Biden trying to find dirt on Buttigieg, the media would obliterate Biden.

      November 27, 2019 at 4:39 PM

    • Was he “out” in college? He’s young enough there must be reams of photos of him gay clubs and bars being off-putting. “Sex tape” is unlikely. Hell, that stuff would be on facebook, but the agents in gay tech have probably memory holed everything.

The images of Rubio being homo probably damaged him.

      November 28, 2019 at 2:55 AM

    • **There’s gotta be a tape out there somewhere, right?**

It’s an interesting comment, this idea that’s out there that it’s totally normal to have “sex tapes” and everyone’s doing it.

      November 28, 2019 at 7:08 AM

      • It’s probably more common if the person in question is gay, because gays are perverts who are obsessed with sex.

        November 28, 2019 at 10:53 AM

  6. Buttplug is a homo who can’t even stand up to his own ‘duh-verse’ population. He was way too willing to throw his police department under the bus. I myself spit on his military service and despise his extreme anti gun views. He would also be too weak to stand up to other world leaders. I can’t imagine this puke as president much less a governor of a state.

  7. It’s been said by many, but that doesn’t make it false: blacks and Hispanics are not voting for a gay man who kisses his “husband” in public. I think Asians will be turned off also. That leaves white liberals. There are plenty of those in the Democratic primaries. But they are a small part of the general electorate.

PS the implied gayness of Booker is what turned off black voters from “one of their own.” And he is actually in the closet.

  9. 2012 all over again, looks like.

    November 27, 2019 at 5:23 PM

    • How?

      November 29, 2019 at 2:35 PM

      • In 2012, there wasn’t a really good Republican candidate. So the different candidates took turns in the lead until they finally settled on Romney. It’ll be similar this time, only with the Democrats.

        December 13, 2019 at 9:49 AM

    • Are you familiar with this book that came out recently? Looks good…

      November 30, 2019 at 7:17 AM

  10. If a white man wins the Democratic nomination, Trump will be in trouble come the general election.

Trump’s best chances of winning 2020 are if the Democrats nominate a white woman with no charisma, or a colored person. And even with the white woman it’s iffy, because Elizabeth Warren is more charismatic than Hillary Clinton.

    November 27, 2019 at 5:49 PM

  11. This would be great for trump. Do you really think a weak gay smarmy guy could beat him? On the other hand, if buttgay was president, we would know it was time to leave.

    November 27, 2019 at 6:16 PM

    • Yes. The three most dangerous people for Trump are Biden, Sanders, and Buttigieg.

      WIth Warren it’s a 50-50 nailbiter.

With Harris, the odds favor Trump but not by a giant margin.

With Klobuchar, Castro, Gabbard, or Yang, Trump is almost guaranteed to win.

      November 28, 2019 at 11:05 AM

  12. You think if Buttigieg wins Iowa and New Hampshire Hillary will just sit back and let a fag walk away with the nomination? Dream on.

  14. The Root (webzine for retarded blacks) had a hit piece on the butt boy a few days ago:

Pete Buttigieg Is a Lying MF

Pete phoned the author of the hit piece and groveled:

Buttigieg calls The Root writer whose column on his past comments on minorities and education went viral

John McWhorter points out that the Root guy is just being an asshole:

The Woke Attack on Pete Buttigieg
In The Root, Michael Harriot misreads the presidential candidate’s old comments on role models.

But of course a white politician can’t tell a black guy who’s being an asshole that he’s being an asshole.

  15. I can’t believe this is the best the Dems can do in an election against a very vulnerable incumbent–the not all that successful gay mayor of a third-string midwestern city??!?

Even if LGBTQ membership were a requirement for the Dem nomination, they still have some far more qualified and battle-tested possibilities. Gov. Jared Polis of Colorado, for one, who served in Congress for many years and knows DC well.

    • “I can’t believe this is the best the Dems can do in an election against a very vulnerable incumbent–the not all that successful gay mayor of a third-string midwestern city??!?”

It is very weird that a guy like this has gone far beyond joke candidacy status and might actually get the nomination.

That dust-up with the Root guy (who called Pete a racist MF for saying stuff that was actually very PC 8 years ago) and Pete’s groveling response might derail Pete’s campaign, though.

The bigger picture is that America is increasingly crazy, so who can tell WTF will happen?

Okay, people, tomorrow is Thanksgiving. And some of you live in lefty shit holes. Which means you’ll be subjected to political harassment at the dinner table. You’ll be outnumbered. So they’ll try to bait you into a discussion where they can gang up on you.

Well, I’m here to help. I argue a lot. But have you ever seen me lose? No. So I’m going to tell you how to handle it. When they ask why you support Trump, just show them this clip. Be sure to tap the screen at 7sec when she looks up to see if people are watching. When it’s over say, “That’s why.” Whatever you do, do not allow yourself to be baited into a serious discussion. Because they don’t really care. They’re just angry and looking for someone to take it out on. If you fall for it then the person they take it out on will be you. So don’t engage them. It’s much easier to mock them without taking a position on Trump. But, if they keep badgering you, just point out that RBG doesn’t look well. Then watch the blood drain from their faces. 🙂

  17. For me as a Democrat, it’s worth it to lose the election to Trump if a Medicare for All candidate wins Dem nomination (especially Bernie). Even if it means supreme Court goes right for next 50 years.

To stop Medicare for All is the ONLY wish I have for this Thanksgiving.

    November 28, 2019 at 11:16 AM

  18. Buttigieg won’t win the nomination. Why? He is both short and balding.

As Karl Lagerfeld, another gay man, once said — Never trust ugly, short men. They are mean and want to kill you.

  19. Is it Ok that, even while I’m a Trump supporter, I like Buttigieg as a candidate?

He seems fairly normal and competent. I couldn’t care less that he’s gay.

  20. Two biggest things in that poll- Bloomberg has started to make inroads- already at 3% and his air war has just started. His big state strategy could really work if the field punches itself out after the piddling early states.

Also economy is high on the independents list of priorities. Environment is fairly low.

  21. Unless I missed it, no one is stating the obvious: his name is unpronounceable. It makes “Dukakis” sound like “Smith.” Only once have I heard anyone say it (on the radio; call me a fogey or boomer for listening to that antique, fine, but where have YOU heard it said?). And the radio announcer sounded very tentative in her pronunciation, like she expected to get fired for doing it wrong.
