Iowa update

Instead of the big news being Biden’s likely fourth-place showing, which would be a real disaster for Biden (but one that I predicted months ago), the story is about how there are no results. So Biden wins. And Bernie loses because he was unable to brag about his big victory on prime-time. It almost sounds like a conspiracy to prevent Bernie from gaining momentum, except the news reports are simply that the vast majority of Democratic caucus leaders were too stupid to be able to log into a smartphone app.

Another winner is Amy Klobuchar, who everyone thought was out of the race, but with 1.87% of precincts reporting, she leads Biden who is in fifth place.

For those who don’t know what’s going on, the likely results are:

1. Bernie
2. Buttigieg (running a surprisingly close second)
3. Warren
4. Biden and Klobuchar too close to call

Will Buttigieg take over as the “moderate” challenger to Bernie? Back in June, I predicted a strong showing for Buttigieg.

  1. “… It almost sounds like a conspiracy to prevent Bernie from gaining momentum…”

It’s almost as if it was predictable that the DNC would try to put it’s thumb on the results.

    • Bernie is looking pretty stoppable right now. Perhaps some screaming black women wrote that vote-counting app.

      • They would first have to learn to code, but if you tell them that, you’re off twitter. The real culprits of the app are Clinton people. Man I knew the Democrats would try to put their thumb on the Iowa caucus and sure enough…

  2. Can we talk about the stupidity (or outright graft) of designing and purchasing a mobile app for the simple purpose of transmitting a one page spreadsheet? What world do these people live in where somebody could sign off on that as a sane idea?

  4. If there is a conspiracy afoot, perhaps it is to knock Iowa off its pedestal of importance. Every 4 years the parties and the media moan and complain about having to go to Iowa – Iowa for Christ’s sake! But now these backwards rubes can’t even run a caucus. Hell with ’em

    Poppycock.
