Virus spreading in Singapore and Japan, and possibly Hawaii, United States.

https://www.straitstimes.com/singapore/health/coronavirus-9-new-cases-confirmed-in-singapore-6-of-these-linked-to-grace-assembly

9 new cases in Singapore, 6 of them linked to the same church as previous cases.

https://www.japantimes.co.jp/news/2020/02/14/national/wakayama-positive-coronavirus/

3 new cases in Japan.

A taxi driver in Okinawa, an island (pretty far from the rest of Japan) where the infected cruise ship stopped. She is believed to have picked up the disease from driving a cruise ship passenger.

2 in Tokyo linked to a party for taxi drivers on a boat. One of the two, a worker at the party, had a contact with someone from Hubei province in China, so the cluster of cases in Tokyo has likely been traced back to its source.

* * *

What the above tells us is that the virus is spreading around Singapore and Japan, and could become epidemic there.

* * *

UPDATE: Another virus case confirmed in Japan, a man in his 50s from Hokkaido (the northernmost island of Japan where the city of Sapporo is). The man has never traveled abroad.

UPDATE: Another virus case confirmed in Japan, a man in his 60s in Aichi Prefecture (the main island of Japan between Tokyo and Kyoto, but closer to Kyoto). Worse for the United States, “The man showed signs of pneumonia after a cold on 3rd of this month and was hospitalized on 13th for a virus test. As a result, infection was confirmed on the 14th. The man stayed in Hawaii on a trip from 28th of this month to 7th of this month, and had been recuperating at home since the 8th.”

That’s a clear implication that the virus is present in Hawaii.

Only about 15,000 Chinese tourists visit Hawaii each month, but I guess it only takes one infected person from China to seed the virus. (Japanese love Hawaii much more than Chinese, 1.5 million Japanese tourists visit Hawaii each year. I guess explains why a season of Terrace House took place in Hawaii.)

UPDATE from Japan: A man in his thirties from Kanagawa Prefecture (a southern suburb of Tokyo) has tested positive for the virus. The article says he’s a local government employee, so presumably not related to the taxi-driver cluster, but Kanagawa Prefecture is where the 80-year-old woman died who was the mother-in-law of a taxi driver.

The computer Japanese translations are really bad, but I think that the guy from Kanagawa is a firefighter who drove the emergency vehicle that transported an infected cruise ship patient to the a hospital, but they say there’s no way he could have caught the virus doing that.

* * *

So it looks like Japan has gotten more aggressive about testing people with pneumonia for the virus, and lo and behold, they are finding virus cases. We have NOT been doing any testing in the United States. I am almost certain that aggressive testing of pneumonia patients in the U.S. would turn up some virus cases. It’s not believable that there have been zero new cases in the U.S., outside of quarantine, during the last week.

* * *

Then end of cruising? Vietnam says no more cruise ships can visit the country.

    • And stock markets just rise. With low interest rates environment there is no alternative for stocks. This is a new economy and this time it really is different.

      • It isn’t just the central banks keeping rates low, although of course they are, in the hope of keeping their economies healthy. Outside of that though, there is long term pressure for decreasing rates, because the relative cost of capital is decreasing while the relative cost of high skill labor is going up.

        Demographically we are in a long term situation where low skill workers, and even medium skill, cannot get good wages because there are too many of them, due to third world demographics. And there are too few high skill workers, not just in terms of high technical skill, but also resourcefulness, charisma, and genuine leadership ability.

        So where can banks put their money to good use? To whom do they lend? We have lots of wealth now, and few people worthy of it. Interests rates must be low, just to incentivize borrowers. This is a recipe for centralization, which is what we see. Both the centralization of human talent in the major metros, where the capitalists can access it, and the centralization of capital in the high market-cap stocks, the large corporations that are best able to survive and make use of what little human talent is available.

        None of this adds up to crash, but just a slow decline and a dark age that will last for hundreds of years. Ironically the only thing that could change this outcome now would be a plague wiping out a lot of the third world, and maybe a big chunk of old people, elsewhere.

  3. There is nothing remarkable here.

    1) The corona virus is a virus designed to target Asians. Since the Chinese like to steal technology, someone in intelligence got the bright idea of making the corona virus available for them to steal. They knew that Charles Lieber (now under arrest) designed the BSL-4 lab in Wuhan and they knew that the Chinese would accelerate development by testing on Chinese prisoners. Because they incubated the virus in Chinese prisoners, the virus adapted to the Chinese male genotype, which has a larger number of ACE2 receptor sites and why it is affecting the male population more than the female population.

    Why couldn’t the Chinese figure out ahead of time that this virus would target them? Those viral features only get activated once exposed to a particular population, said exposure would come about after the Chinese tested the virus on prisoners.

    2) The worldwide economic problems will only benefit the United States, because imports subtract from GDP. As what we import from the rest of the world diminishes, our GDP will go up. That is why the stock market is rising.

    3) What a way to end globalism.

    • How is this related to a pizza restaurant in Washington DC used to trade in child sex slaves?

      This totally violates Hanlon’s razor, never attribute to malice or conspiracies what can be attributed to plain old stupidity.

      It’s know that bats and other animals harbor coronaviruses, and the Chinese have markets where live exotic animals are sold, and the initial virus cases were linked to such a market.

      • 1) But…but…but…Comet Pizza does not have a basement…and…and…and… it’s quite common for single pizza parlor owners in Washington DC to get on lists of the Top 50 most powerful people in the nation’s capital…and…and…and…Hunter Biden was never investigated by the Ukrainians…and…and…and…Corn Pop Biden does not like having children rub his we legs in swimming pools….

        2) You forgot the rest of the quote…the first time. “Never attribute to malice or conspiracies what can be attributed to plain old stupidity…the first time.” We are well passed the point of entertaining coincidence theories.

        3) It’s already been established that this coronavirus has features that could never occur naturally, including a receptor site that would normally attach to a vaccine. This particular corona virus is a bio-weapon, probably designed to infect injured soldiers on the battlefield, who carry the virus to triage, which then infect medical personnel and the military supply chain…similarly to how the Spanish Flu defeated the Germans in WWI.

        The problem with map’s conspiracy theory (and I’m not against conspiracy theories) is that it involves tricking Chinese spies into stealing a virus in hopes that they’ll test it on prisoners in a military lab and it will escape containment. And there’s no need for all that james bond sh*t. It’s easier and less risky with a much higher chance of success to just infect a few people and let them spread it naturally.

        The Wuhan lab is partially owned by George Soros and it was designed by Charles Lieber, head of some bio lab at Harvard University and now under arrest for not disclosing the work he did for the Chinese. Then it’s just a matter of making sure the Chinese spies you have in Lieber’s graduate student group get a hold of the virus you engineered and that it ends up in the (compromised) weapons lab you had built.

        It only stands to reason that the Chinese would use prisoners because…well…they are Chinese.

        Remember, Soros did say that Chairman Xi was an enemy.

        I don’t understand the comparison between Bloomberg and Soros. There’s a major difference between 78 and 90 years of age.

      February 14, 2020 at 3:56 PM

      • The raw virus has no indicators of targeting the Chinese and no proof of surreptitious delivery. That last piece was provided by the Chinese stealing the virus and incubating the virus on its own prisoners, so there is plausible deniability.

        This is similar to when the Soviets would steal American technology, so the CIA gave them plans to some faulty controller that was deployed in an oil pipeline. The result was one of the largest non-nuclear explosions in history.

        In the end, because of Soros involvement in the lab, you can blame it on his Cabal, if push comes to shove.

      • It’s also a hell of a lot of effort to go to to kill a few hundred thousand Chinese pensioners and knock a % or two of China’s GDP. Can anyone really believe that this is going to destroy China or derail globalism? The Spanish flu epidemic didn’t seem to have a negative lasting effect on the American economy, in fact as with the Black Death in Europe it may have been a good thing for workers.

      • I figured there would always be plausible deniability in a situation like this if it is indeed some kind of weapon, so there wouldn’t be like a formal declaration of war. But if it is a weapon like you say, wouldn’t the Chinese government know and retaliate in some fashion?

        Yes, it would. Look for Caucasians disappearing in China for experimenting on to create a Caucasian-specific Corona virus.

To be clear, I don’t disagree with his suspicious nature and think it usually serves him well; allowing him to see things most would overlook. It’s just that it occasionally leads him down the wrong rabbit hole.

        The reality is that you cannot understand the world without conspiracy theories. Go back far enough in history, and all you have are conspiracies: the plot to kill Caesar or the plot to kill Elizabeth I. The British Secret Service began under the Tudors to deflect from plots hatched by the nobility.

        This is such a salient point that governments work overtime to keep people from noticing conspiracies.
