MSNBC article speculating about Trump and the virus

https://www.msnbc.com/rachel-maddow-show/officials-debate-what-tell-trump-about-coronavirus-outbreak-n1137931

Yeah, they hate Trump over there, for sure. But, still worth reading.

It’s totally believable that Trump is being kept in the dark by people beneath him. And also, they are keeping the news media in the dark, because that’s the only way to keep Trump in the dark.

The writer from MSBNC says:

I never worked in the Obama White House, but from what I gather, his team never quarreled over “what information the president should receive” when dealing with the Ebola threat in 2014, for example.

This is probably true and a real difference between the Obama White House and the Trump White House.

It’s also believable, what the Washington Post article said, that Trump is more worried about how bad stock market could ruin his re-election chances than about fighting the virus.

As I’ve stated before, Trump isn’t very good at being president.

  1. Last week when a took a drug test for my new job, I had to fill out a form to see if I had any symptoms of the coronavirus. Could be an overreaction, or something massive. Not massive death so much, but it could cripple the entire economy.

  2. It isn’t worth reading. It’s a lot of nonsense. And Trump is very, very good at certain aspects of being President. He’s just too weak and won’t squash his enemies. In any case, he’s pretty much the only one standing against a full SJW psycho takeover of America.

Anyway, he’s damned if he do or don’t on the virus. If he totally blocks people from China coming to America (as Russia has wisely done) he’d be the terrible racist we all know he is. If he doesn’t block them, he’s playing with the lives of the most vulnerable Americans (minorities hardest hit). He will simply never win with the press. It’s even worse for Trump because so many among his own staff of Quisling Republicans are against him.

Yeah, maybe the Republicucks don’t want Trump knowing the truth because they’re afraid he would take decisive action (i.e. “racist” action) that would make them soil their diapers. Trump is not entirely, but almost, the only adult in Washington.

The WAPO article also says this: “Trump’s public statements about the virus and China’s handling of it are a stark contrast to his response as a private citizen during the 2014 Ebola outbreak, in which he panned the Obama administration’s response and called for the United States to shut its borders and not allow doctors who had been treating patients in Africa to come back to the United States for treatment.”

As is true nearly 100% of the time, Trump’s gut instincts are on the money. But he’s President in an election year and politics naturally plays into his thinking, as it should. In any case, if Trump shut the borders to China it would be turned over by a podunk judge in about five minutes.

How so? SJWs are stronger than ever. Trump offers no real defense of conservative values – he is not Reagan. His core values appear to be power and authority. He just pardoned Blagojevich for chrissakes. He is good at big gestures that attract attention and he is good at „owning libs“ in a childish way but he has no credibility on any of the moral or religious principles we need to really stand up to SWPL ideology.

      • And, pray tell, what moral and religious principles have conservatives advanced that have made a dent in SWPL ideology? Conservatives could not even conserve a woman’s bathroom.

The only thing that matters is massed power to eliminate progressives.

Right, conservatism is like an ideology on permanent “strategic retreat.” Always in the process of ceding ground, always in the process of preparing the next retreat. But it’s an orderly retreat. Trumpism is that same army in retreat, except it’s in disorderly retreat. No one’s quite sure where the front line is. Soldiers don’t trust their commanding officers. They see themselves constantly retreating, yet their generals publish maps showing advances. The enemy will encircle positions and capture prisoners and the army will deny that any prisoners were taken, saying it’s all enemy propaganda to wound morale. Generals are regularly exposed as being enemy agents. When one is exposed, the soldiers bay for blood, but nobody asks how such a lapse in security occurred or how it can be prevented in the future. If a soldier points out the obvious, he is told to trust the plan. There are no retreats, and if there are, they are part of the plan.

      • You really are an egregious liar. Leftism never assaulted Reagan with 10% of what Trump faces. Gays whining that he didn’t “care” enough about AIDS. That’s about it. Oh yeah, and James Watt being a lousy secretary of the Interior. Oooh, that really hurts. Peterike nails it here.

What do you mean by this? Trump is trying to reduce the trade deficit and increase exports, which wouldn’t end globalism. He also signed the USMCA deal recently.

Because most of you aren’t conservative, you‘re Trump fans watching SWPLs get stronger every day while you applaud Trump making himself personally richer and spending our tax money on his family. The Trump cult has the same relation to conservatism that Joel Osteen has to Christianity. It‘s a con to suck money from proles.

And where do you see that happening? When Congress flipped in 2018? When Trump pardoned Blagojevich? The non-prosecution of Hilary Clinton? Or is it the many hours playing golf?

I know…I know…everything is too slow for you. If a massive covert conspiracy that has been growing since the end of the Civil War is not immediately dissolved in a single television season of Law and Order: Special Lesbian Unit, then, of course, nothing is happening.

    • I remember a famous quote about Winston Churchill demanding that no reports be given to help longer than one page, and so the job of his staffers was to reduce the information he needed to the absolute essentials. A leader can’t go over all minutia in running a country.

That’s because fakestream media isn’t covering it. And why do you think that is?

      Lion of the Blogosphere

      February 18, 2020 at 11:25 PM

      • They don’t cover it that much because there is nothing to cover, it is mainly an Asian issue which doesn’t affect other countries much. In Israel it is on the headlines because some Israelis are now released from the cruise ship near Japan but once this fanfare will end there are more pressing issues.

  6. It would suck if Trump loses the election because the stock market is down because of the coronavirus, something that’s totally not his fault. I mean, it’s long been pointed out that despite a reelection’s usually hinging on the economy, the President has little control over it, but in terms of things a President has no control over, a viral outbreak in a foreign country takes the cake.

    • He’s good at taking credit for the economy which was growing before he was President. Especially when people forget how he criticized the reliability of unemployment numbers under Obama but changed his mind now that he’s President. Or how he criticized the national debt under Obama and changed his mind once he became President. Or his endless parade of empty threats on Twitter.

      • Letting the rich keep their money, so that they can invest and compound wealth, is great for the economy.

Poor people are poor in part because they don’t understand the economy and they don’t understand money and don’t know how to make it grow. Getting more money into the hands of the already rich, which seems unfair, is great economic policy.

The stock market collapsed in Obama’s first year partly on the belief he was a socialist. Which he probably was. Staring into the abyss in 2009, Obama’s hair turned grey, he got capitalist religion, cut taxes at the end of his first year (proving his new faith) and had a good economy ever since. And got reelected.

I really can’t stand the Ben Shapiros of the world. Really dislike their moral smugness. But what Reaganite Republicans say about free markets is and wealth is totally correct.

Trump is doing better than Obama on the economy. He cut taxes even lower, including for corporations. But he also talks up the economy like a maniac every single day (which is a major injection of animal spirits) while pressuring the Fed like crazy to keep rates low. And he broke with Republican orthodoxy to prove that tariffs don’t hurt us if we have a massive trade deficit. That last one was all Trump — executive action. If he had to put tariffs before the Senate, he would have gotten maybe two votes.

They don’t call him God Emperor Trump for nothing.
