Deer more dangerous than cows!

Across America, deer are the most dangerous animal, in terms of loss of human life and monetary cost. Accidents involving deer kill about 200 people each year, and cause $4 billion in property damage every year. According to a study done by the State Farm insurance Company, a driver has a one-in-169 chance of hitting a deer within the next year. According to the same study, the average cost of a deer collision is $3,888.

Beware deer.

Cows kill a German hiker

Last week, as reported by the AP:

Police say a herd of cows attacked and killed a German woman hiking through their fenced-in pasture after apparently being riled by the sight of her leashed dog.

They said Tuesday the 45-year old victim was rushed by about 20 cows and their calves. Attempts by an emergency crew to revive her were unsuccessful.

Hiker killed by cows

As reported by The Telegraph:

Pascal Sancho, from a nearby mountain rescue centre, said the hiker died after being knocked to the ground by one of the cows.

“Cows descended from the high pastures, and charged into the group,” said Mr Sancho. “One of the cows, accompanied by a calf, rushed straight into the man, who fell over with serious injuries.”

The man, who has not been named, was rushed to hospital in the town of Pau where he died soon after admission.

Stay safe. Don’t hike near cows.

Another death by cow

Reported in the Telegraph:

Joao Maria de Souza, 45, had been in bed with his wife Leni when the animal fell through the ceiling of their home in Caratinga, southeast Brazil.

The cow is believed to have escaped from a nearby farm and climbed onto the roof of the couple’s house, which backs onto a steep hill on Wednesday night.

And in other news:

A cow that wandered onto Interstate 40 in West Tennessee may have caused a car crash that killed four people.

Also this month:

Arkansas City police say an Oklahoma man died while working inside a cattle pen at Creekstone Farms.

Police say Gates was inside the cattle pen trying to move cattle when he was knocked down and injured by other cattle. An autopsy will determine his cause of death.

All these deaths occurred just this month. Beware of cows.
