Crazy headline of the day
This Chiago Tribune headline caught my attention: We should be able to eat waffles in peace — but Trump and the NRA accept this kind of terrorism.
There’s no way in hell that a SWPL reporter from Chicago would ever eat at a Waffle House.
Of course I agree that one should be able to eat at a greasy prole restaurant in Tennessee without fear, but the reality is that I am VERY AFRAID to eat at a McDonalds in a black neighborhood in New York City even though New York City has strict gun laws.
In fact, I’d feel a lot safer at that Waffle House. Rednecks never bother a middle-aged white guy.

I thought at every marriage ceremony, they say it’s until death. If you can’t figure out that’s a really long time, then you’re too stupid to be a New York Times reader.

NYC’s Wafels and Dinges, which used to be only a truck stall, now serves their diabetic concoction of bread, ice cream, fruits, whipped cream, drizzled with various syrups and topped with sugar powder in their sedentary unit located in a SWPL neighborhood.

How can this be SWPL? Aren’t they supposed to be more health conscious?
I like waffles and simple heaps of butter and maple syrup are fine by me. Whatever is going on with the waffle in the photograph is excessive.
My favorite restaurants are local mom and pop places that have been around forever and stick to the basics.

We had one in missoula like that. Waffles and ice cream. It did ok for a year then folded. But all the hipsters had to check it out.
It must be a swpl status play, to be able to indulge in public yet look fit. Here people are still obsessively health-conscious.

I’m not scared to eat at McDonald’s at all. I wouldn’t go into the one at 225th/Bway at 2AM but in the afternoon, if I get to Marble Hill early to make a connection to the Metro North, no problem.
There was a van attack in Toronto, terrorism w/out doubt. Cue the arguments about what’s more dangerous, a white man with a gun, or a Muslim with a van. I’m so jaded.

I have a suspicion it is not terrorism but bear all the signs of beta male rage. From the name the guy could be Armenian or Persian but probably not of the extreme Muslim kind. He might have used the Muslimism as an excuse but deep down it looks like it is just a beta who had enough, he begged the cops to kill him, a terrorist would just charge at the cops and try to take as many as he can with him.

Off topic but fun:
I watched A League Of Their Own on Netflix, and the film would not pass the SJW test today.
All the girls are white. Everyone is Northern European or Italian.
All the girls are Christian. No obligatory Jewish character.
The men own and manage the clubs, and the women play ball. Yet there is no hint of the women being “exploited.” No attempted rape scene. Nothing about how men and capitalists are oppressors.
The film has no problem with the fact that men like to look at pretty women. No lectures about the male gaze.
The film admits that, for a lot of women, husbands and babies and home are more important than a career.
There is one quick scene about women’s baseball being racially segregated. The scene is entertaining, not preachy. Today, the entire movie would be about the segregation.
No gay characters. At least one lesbian romance would be required today.

Finding entertainment produced in the last 5 years or so where all the characters are white induces gasps of wonder in me, with eyes opening wide, like discovering buried treasure.

Forget that – on Broadway the new thing is to cast black actors in white parts. On Broadway we are supposed to have “color blind casting,” but in the outside world, which is controlled by SJWs, color-blindness is disguised racism.

Yes. If you are color blind you are foisting white values on society, which is wrong. But when the issue is giving a part to a black actor, then you must be color blind.

There are some nice short films on YouTube where all the characters are white. Not that I object to non-white characters, I mainly hate it when such characters are obviously shoehorned into the movie to appease sjws.

Everything now is talked about in a racial angle. Every year they have to honor Jackie Robinson in baseball. That was around 70 years ago.
How come women getting the right to vote isn’t played up as much as MLK? You would think we would have a national holiday honoring that instead of MLK.
Slavery ended 153 years ago, but some historian I saw on C-span felt the need to write a book about slaves in Charleston, SC and how the people now don’t seem to acknowledge it now. As if they had anything to do with it.

Speaking of crazy, the man who killed 9 and injured 16 people in Toronto today when he deliberately drove a van on the sidewalk, has been named as Alek Minassian, an ostensibly orthodox Christian Armenian man. It’s being speculated (on Twitter at least) that he may have been targeting Muslims. Didn’t see this coming.

Chik-Fil-A is very good. Definitely one of the better fast food joints, and while I’ve only been to two of them (Pt. Jefferson NY and Bristol VA), the workers were much nicer than their counterparts elsewhere.

i have been a mother and now a grandmother. It is much more pleasant to take small kids to McDonalds, where they can eat food they like and then play in the Playland, than to a fancier restaurant where they kids don’t like the food and you know that they’re irritating the other diners.
So i have spent a lot of time in McDonalds, and I will say 1) the food is a lot better than it used to be, and 2) sometimes i have been in McDonalds where all the staff and patrons are black, and I never felt any hostility.
My kids played w/ their kids in the Playland, and the other parents were nice to my kids. This is in Brooklyn. I’m no idealist about race relations in the US,but i do have to report this. The biggest difference between white and black McDonalds is that the black McDonalds are dirtier. The staff is not sent out to sweep the floor.

McDonald’s and Chuck E Cheese are two best places to take your kids to. If you have issue with eating/playing at these two places, you should seriously consider not to have children, because they will make you unhappy.

They should go back to cooking their fries in fat instead of oil. Just about every restaurant used to cook fries in fat. That’s when fries were really good.

Younger people today have never really had good fries.
I think they may have a had more fat in their burgers in the 70’s and earlier. I don’t know for a fact though.
Burgers should have a high-fat content. Lean beef isn’t as tasty.
McD’s chicken sandwiches are good too.
I used to get an ice cream cone and fries at McD’s in the 70’s and 80’s before they started cooking in oil and that was quite good. Of course, they used to have fried apple pies which were very good, although their baked apple pies are good now.
Fried apple pie, ice cream cone and excellent fries at McD’s. Now that was a good snack.

Except for the fries, as noted by ttgy1. The suet fried fries were actually touted by gourmets, but they had to give it up because of health-food prunes. Then it turned out that the fat they were frying it in was less healthy than the suet but there was no going back. Leftists ruin everything.

Me neither. I’ve had worse experiences at Starbucks. In fact I want to rant about this. Quite apart from the recent incident in Philly, which is giving me Schadenfreude although I realize it’s a bad precedent, I despise Sbux. The people in Sbux, mostly white and pompous, are the most territorial, nasty fucks on earth. They like to spread their Apples and other slave-made Chinese crap over the entire table, rather than taking one seat, which is all they are entitled to. I have never, repeat ever, had a problem sitting at the same table as a black or Hispanic person at the McD’s on 70th Street. Just ax politely. They realize they are entitled to one seat.

I’ve never seen a white McDonald’s. Every McD’s I’ve been in, it’s like you are teleported into the ghetto. I live in a very white area but I swear, it attracts every black person like iron filings to a magnet. The cleanup lady is Hispanic. She’s a nice lady.

SWPLs love to eat at Waffle House ironically. Every SWPL I know from Massachusetts or New York finds a stop at a WH de rigeur if they are travelling south of the Mason Dixon line.

Yeah, you know, it’s possible a Chicago Tribune writer has been to a Waffle House once or twice in his life. Not everyone is as totally obsessed with class lines as Lion is.
As for the marriage article, as soon as I read the headline and saw that it was the New York Times, I knew the author would be a woman.

I’ve eaten at a Waffle House, and I enjoyed it too! I’m an OBSERVER of class, while the people who are most obsessed with it pretend it doesn’t exist and that they have other reasons for doing what they do.

Okay accuse me of getting obsessed if you must, but there’s more details about Alek Minassian the man who murdered at least 10 people yesterday in Toronto. According to CBC, he had a Facebook post which referred to the “Supreme Gentleman Elliot Rodger.” the 22-year-old Californian who mass murdered people because he couldn’t attract girls. Alek likely suffered beta-male rage, very similar to Rodgers’ and appears to have taken inspiration from him as well. Details from CBC:
