Don’t move into bad neighborhoods

More than a week ago, in a bad neighborhood in St. Paul, a white man was beat up by a gang of black youths and suffered “serious brain injuries.” According to law enforcement officials, it’s not a hate crime.

The victim appears to be a hipster type who attempted to be on the vanguard of gentrifying his neighborhood. This is why it’s a lot better to have rich parents so you can have a low-paying starter job in a creative industry and not have to live in a neighborhood like that.

  1. Who “happens upon” a mob of 30-40 gangbangers at 11:30pm? The noise alone had to have traveled blocks yet he continued with his evening stroll? I don’t want to sound cold-hearted but this is darwin award territory. The family will have to push hard in the media for this to prosecuted as a hate crime.

  2. While it may not be the case for these specific criminals, cities in Minnesota and Wisconsin have gotten a big influx of former residents of now-demolished Chicago housing projects. They’ve used their Section 8 vouchers to move to these states, which offer more generous welfare benefits than Illinois. Quite a few are gangbangers and have wrought all sorts of havoc.

    • Given that the ‘hate’ element was introduced into law solely for the purpose of granting prosecutor bureaucrats a tool to help magnify an overarching Left narrative about institutional racism, sexism and homophobia charging minorities for ‘hate’ does not advance the narrative. Whether hate exists or not is entirely dependent on the narrative such a conclusions will advance and it is intended, and thus will operate, as a visible manifestation of the power of the Left over white intransigents who don’t want to get with the moral program of internalizing the notion that black deficiency=white racism causation. .

They weren’t committing a hate crime. They were simply making a video; modern day artists, enriching the culture.

Parents are more likely to subsidized their daugher’s lifestyle than their sons. Upper middle class parents would never tolerate having their daughters living in the ghetto.

  11. I imagine liberals in general are apt to confront blacks on issues of crime because:

    1) You can’t really reason with the violent elements of that population, liberal shaming tactics only works on those who are conscientious of the difference between right and wrong, along with those who have something to lose through shaming (i.e. a job)
    2) The black upper class will protect it’s own, siding with whitey gives those bad ole conservatives further proof and would stop the handouts from flowing to them.
    3) Liberals are generally cowards, they will feed the beast their brethren in hope of being the last to be eaten, those bad ole conservatives are expendable.

The Liberal media reminds me of the Ministry of Truth, from 1984..

    Political Correctness = Newspeak
    Racism = Thought Crime

In this particular circumstance: IGNORANCE IS STRENGTH

The teachers would have to point out there were exactly zero white kids in the school. But any child who was light skinned, or less dark skinned, was considered, somehow, “white.”

  15. Lion,

This Californian guy really knows how to live the good life as the boat is rapidly sinking. He’s probably saying, “f*ck you, all you Northeast status seekers toiling away, I have it better”. If you compare him with those hipsters moving into a black neighborhood in the Midwest and getting clubbed, they are the biggest suckers.

Dude lives in La Jolla, San Diego, no blacks, doesn’t work, plays in a band, hangs out in the beach, surfs, gets drunk, gets laid and gets $200 foodstamps a month to buy sushi and lobster.

Charles Murray (not in the video) reprimands him for seeing life as a picnic. Why blame him when only the most privileged gets the most out of life with their money?

He certainly didn’t pay for the Escalade, and probably doesn’t even own it. Schlepping from couch to couch for shelter doesn’t seem very comfortable. Still sponging off his parents in his late 20s. His nicotine addiction will get him throat cancer at 40.

Do a new post on http://www.nytimes.com/2013/08/18/realestate/south-of-west-fourth-street-tracking-the-ghosts-of-bohemia.html?hp&_r=0

Do the math: even with rent control it costs 21,600/year just for rent to live in the “bohemian” area. With other cost of living, that means you need 50k+ gross income. Even being “bohemian” is out of reach for most of America (nevermind the rest of the world).

    • Commentator TUJ once said the Northeast is behind rest of the country in trends. I agree with him as NYC is no longer uniquely better or substantially ahead of any other major American metropolis. If anything, the city has regressed because of the continuing liberal policies that has wrought havoc on middle class Whites, combined with the ignorant and parochial superiority attitude that forever pervades many of its residents.

Trademark foods of the Big Apple such as pizza and bagels are for the most part no longer of quality.

Most of its restaurants are subpar and its world class institutions are like stale bread.

Intellectual hubs which draws bohemian types are also attainable in other cities, which are probably better and superior (reasons: more interesting bookstores and cafes, lower cost of living with fewer inner city racial minorities).

Anyone who is connoisseur will also tell NYC has very few specialty stores that sells anything remotely better or different from other places.

I don’t recall saying NYC isn’t worth it anymore. I’ve argued the only city in the Northeast worth living in is NY. The rest, like Boston, aren’t worth the money or they’ve been destroyed by non-white immigrants. Aside from NY, a perfectly good life could be had in wealthy suburbs outside the Northeast, though even those areas are being destroyed with the tidal wave of non-whites.

California is becoming a Mexicanized and Asianized statewide version of Detroit. According to Victor Davis Hanson, the white Silicon Valley execs are complaining of too many Asians in their schools. Florida’s being overrun with Carribean blacks and non-white Hispanics, though there’s a sizable white Southern American population in addition to the Cubans. It’s debatable how long the rest of of the Southwest can hang on.

      • NYC’s annual GDP is about 1.2 trillion. This is a larger economy than is had by all but a few countries on the planet. Only one city in the world, Tokyo, exceeds it. The next largest economy in the USA comes in at about 750 billion annual, a substantial decrease from NYC’s economy.

It’s hard to believe that this type of economy, and the resultant human activity, breeds a non-novel culture. The fashion, art, and food scenes here don’t lag behind other areas of the USA. In terms of trends, what other categories are you looking to evaluate? You might be surprised at what Bohemians often do to make it in NYC. 50k isn’t hard to make here, and this income can often be slightly exceeded in many waitstaff jobs. Although, I agree that urban Bohemianism, ironically, is ill-suited for people from poorer backgrounds. Proles need to make it, which would give them the chance to successfully raise offspring who can then lead a more carefree bohemian life with the safety net of Daddy’s dime, if they choose. Either way, most bohemians are inauthentic, making the idea of ‘successful bohemianism’ (ie: you live a non-miserable urban bohemian lifestyle with no help and without an early death) a bit of a farce.

      • “I don’t recall saying NYC isn’t worth it anymore”.

That’s different than to say NYC is lagging, which in fact it is, when you compare it to smaller American cities with a White majority in quality education, progressiveness and even high culture. The fact that Wall St, BIGLAW, and the mediocre media outlets which were the main engines of economic growth of the past are ever becoming obsolescent, NYC is no longer uniquely better. Further, these industries are boringly conservative and stagnant, but are no longer lucrative for many, and this will be NYC’s undoing (along with the current lineup of inept politicos who are vying for mayorship).

  17. @ Tom

NYC is a big city so of course its GDP boast impressive numbers. And yes, what I’m talking about is novelty and quality, which the Big Apple no longer provides substantially. It’s a city with many boring mom n pop shops that could be had in other cities (which are probably better) and also large box stores that are found elsewhere as well.

NY’s fashion scene isn’t homegrown, but imported internationally, so what you get here could be exported elsewhere. It’s food scene here isn’t all that remarkable or creative, given its immense size and scope. There seems to be the same boring restaurants and eateries in every street block.

“In terms of trends, what other categories are you looking to evaluate?”

My biggest gripe: Boring boutiques, crappy bookstores and guitarshops.

  18. Gentrification is like the move westward with the Homestead Act. Assuming you can survive the frontier (ghetto) you may claim whatever land you like. The elites believed the savage was noble then too and that the “wrong sort of white people” should embrace him but frontiersmen like Andrew Jackson scoffed at the idea. When he was elected president it was payback time and he shut down the equivalent of our Federal Reserve to prevent north-easterners from acquiring too much national power/prestige. Lion would probably denounce Jackson as a prole today.
