Gang rape at a “university” in New Jersey

According to the Huffington Post:

Four men, Noah Williams, Termaine Scott, Darius Singleton and Garrett Collick, all 18, were charged with conspiring to sexually assault the victim. Jahmel Latimer, also 18, joined the attack while it was in progress and is charged with aggravated sexual assault, prosecutors said.

Not to be confused with the made-up rape at the University of Virginia.

  2. The UVa case wasn’t totally made-up, it just took a few unocorroborated facts and sensationalized them to the extreme.

If you want to know what Sabrina Rubin Erdely (author of the Rolling Stone piece) was going for, you need to think of the article as an elaborate piece of religious art designed to stir up the fervor of the faithful, not a detailed factual report intending to resolve the “victim’s” case.

More like “The Passion of the Christ” than Woodward and Bernstein.

  3. William Patterson University has 10k undergraduates, is a1000 SAT (Math/Verbal) school with 14% of the student body being black. It has a 48% six year graduate rate. http://collegeresults.org/collegeprofile.aspx?institutionid=187444

It started out as a teachers college and appears to be what I call the regional economic develop university where people go to get degrees in education, nursing, library science, criminal justice, and accounting.

    • I doubt they actually teach accounting, since that discipline requires ability beyond the 450-500 SAT math level. maybe “bookkeeping,” which might get you an interview as a clerk in a medical office.

There is strong stratification between majors…in these crappy universities there are smart people in accounting, and REALLY stupid people in business/psychology/etc.

      • Accounting is a trade. This being said, the entire education system in the US is a joke, and a waste of money and time. The essence of college for men is to get laid. Apprenticeships and training programs for trades would be the best bet for a male student wanting to free himself from distractions including women, and get on with a decent paying career.

Putting black males in a college campus is like a chimp out of his cage, since blacks exhibit lower future time orientation when it comes to anything “cerebral”. Observing black students at Columbia’s University library, especially black guys with their headphones even during cram time, while everyone else is knocking on their midterms and finals, is clear evidence that blacks are just not fitted for modern society.

I can’t wait till the education system implodes because of liberals like de Blasio, who asserts that our education system should be another daycare program for his beloved minions.

    • New Jersey is an anomaly. All of the former state colleges have been renamed as “universities” when they are nothing of the sort. There are only four true research universities in NJ that have significant doctoral programs and produce any sort of high level research, in order of SAT scores they are Princeton, Stevens, Rutgers, and NJIT.

      • Actually, in 2013 Princeton had 143 reported sexual offenses (according to a survey published in the New Jersey Star Ledger), which was among the highest in NJ. Simply being smart doesn’t preclude one from committing a crime.

      • If true this may have something to do with the culture of poverty. In “A Framework for Understanding Poverty” Ruby Payne says that in lower-class culture there is the expectation that when you come into something – money, a possession, etc.. you are expected to share it with others. She claims that this is one reason why poor people have a hard time saving money even if they are relatively thrifty. This tendency probably derails a lot of poor people who might otherwise be able to escape poverty. That and the fact that some poor people try to cut down anyone they see achieving. Check out the documentary “American Hollow” on Youtube about an extended family in Appalachia. You’ll see a 20 year old kid who is planning to leave being referred to by his grandfather as “a bad check just like the rest of us.” His uncle tries to help him, but after a month he’s back home.

I’ve never engaged in intercourse with more than one other person in the room, but I wouldn’t be able to get aroused with a third party watching, never mind three or four other men rushing me. I used make an old girlfriend put her puppy out of the bedroom when it was time to get down.

Criminals should be given substantial financial incentives to be sterilized. Black criminals in particular (and Hispanics to a lesser extent). As Michael Levin argued in defense of differential punishment by race, black criminals are the least reformable of all races. Depending on how outrageous the crime was, white criminals might theoretically be able to reenter society or have children that “regress up” to the white mean enough to become high skill blue collar workers or join the military.

Drones are many decades away from replacing living airforce pilots.

When that technological threshold is reached, robots will probably still need service from human technicians. A task prole whites are well suited. Intelligent whites will prefer air conditioned offices instead of working with their hands.

Wouldn’t this just create a perverse incentive for borderline ghetto residents to become criminals in the first place? Banfield wrote about this in “The Unheavenly City” and Murray in “Losing Ground.” None of us here would be tempted by the money, but then our “fix” comes from intellectual pursuits more than anything else. But lower income, and especially low-IQ people operate differently. The problem is that the reward has to be substantial to give them an incentive to change their behavior. And it it’s substantial then it attracts people who it wasn’t intended for.

Slightly OT and related to HBD: There’s a supermarket (unsurprisingly owned by a Jewish guy) by my way which has a deli counter staffed by blacks and caribbean hispanics and the customers are 90% White and the service is shoddy to say the least. Guys who are overly rude and arrogant and openly resentful of the White people who shop there. Not to mention, they can be as stupid as Mestizo Hispanics, but with a terrible attitude.

I’m thinking of walking up the block to another market whose deli corner has a Mestizo staff where I don’t have to put up with the stinking attitudes. I would pay more for the service just to have a peace of mind.

Haha, you’ve lived a sheltered sex life (nothing to be ashamed of, of course). There’s an entire, relatively non-obscure porn genre that revolves around other men’s ejaculate inside and on women’s vaginas: creamy pies. The dedication to this niche runs the gamut from guys who just like a camera closeup or would want intercourse with the female all the way up to those fellows fantasize about removing it via cunnilingus!

      • Wouldn’t this just create a perverse incentive for borderline ghetto residents to become criminals in the first place?

The medium and short term benefits easily outweigh any short term hike in crime. Borderline, but law abiding, ghetto denizens have such high frequencies of crime genes (33% of black American men ultimately serve prison time) that it’s likely most of their children will wind up as jailbirds even if their fathers don’t. It’s better for everyone, even blacks, they not reproduce.

And, really, if they’re stupid enough to commit crime just to earn a one time cash-for-vasectomy payment, they’re too stupid to be having any children.

The alternatives are forcible sterilization or no sterilization.

Considering criminality is genetic, your preferred policy is…?

But lower income, and especially low-IQ people operate differently. The problem is that the reward has to be substantial to give them an incentive to change their behavior. And it it’s substantial then it attracts people who it wasn’t intended for.

Why get into a bidding war? Low IQ, crime prone, minorities have such low future time orientation they’ll sign the dotted line at the first offer. $5,000 indexed for inflation should be more than good enough to get their participation.

I wouldn’t offer early release as an additional benefit – meaning no payments for those with life sentences or on death row. However, conjugal visits should have sterilization as a prerequisite regardless of sentence length.

  8. UVA has an SAT (V&M) as follows: 25th percentile of admissions – 1250 and the 75th percentile – 1460. Wm Patterson is a 1000 SAT average school (converts to IQ of 104 which is HS average).

Though you write often of high end schools, you rarely cover (to the best of my recollection) bottom end schools of the type Fussell scorned as not really colleges. Wm Patterson is certainly one of those.

I’d appreciate your thoughts on the scandal that is for profit open enrollment online colleges. The GAO has been investigating these institutions because they receive so much public money (recruitment incentives for vets) and their graduates (of those that graduate) imagine themselves to have entered the cognitive elite only to find their degrees mostly worthless. http://chronicle.com/article/Undercover-Probe-Finds-Lax/129881. This system, giving people public money to attend non-competitive colleges, really highlights the distinction between those who view college credentials as a badge of training and those who view them as a proxy for IQ. For the folks attending open enrollment colleges, there is no real IQ proxy because you don’t need a decent SAT score to get in.

    • A lot of the for-profit online “colleges” get 90% of their income from Federal student loans. Most of their students have no business being in college at all. Fortunately, revenue has been dropping recently as people are figuring out that the courses are incredibly dumbed down, and the graduates don’t know anything.

Student loans should be privatized. Yes, that would mean fewer people would attend college, which is a feature, not a bug. Engineers would still be able to get loans, and they would not be subsidizing the transsexual studies majors.

      • The real problem in America is the subsidization of NAMs, especially blacks in every facet of society. Our system is dumbed down to accommodate them at every level.

Smart and savvy businesses don’t hire blacks given their self centered attitudes where their own interests are more important than those of the clients or customers.

He wrote numerous books about education that everyone here would appreciate. I encourage all of you here to check out his books, especially “The Graves of Academe” and “Less than words can say” They’re really exceptional. One of the reasons I like this blog so much is because the thinking here and the writing styles somewhat resemble his. He was as provocative as Jorge Videla, as snide (yet fascinating) as JS, as clear-thinking as TUJ and E. Rekshun, and as monomaniacal as “Maryk!” And of course as brilliant as the Lion (well, maybe not AS brilliant, but he was close!)

He also edited a newsletter for years called “The Underground Grammarian” every issue of which was possible to read on the internet. I don’t know if the website is still there, though. His was not the standard educational “conservative” viewpoint – and he was very hard on Allan Bloom, and merciless toward E.D. Hirsch.
