Surge of violence in the north Bronx

The New York Times reports that there is a surge of violence in the north Bronx:

The seasonal return of gun violence — a foreign idea to some New Yorkers but a familiar one in the city’s crime-troubled communities — has come early this year to the northernmost neighborhoods of the Bronx: eight killings, five this month, compared with a single murder at this time last year. The number of shootings has nearly doubled.

This is evidence that the end of stop-and-frisk tactics is already resulting in more gun violence.

Thank you Bill De Blasio.

    • Art Garfunkel has a B.A. in Art History and a Master’s degree in Mathematics from Columbia University.

      • Given the nature of math as a subject, wouldn’t you need a BA or BS in Math to qualify for admission to a Master’s degree in Math? I’ve never understood why in any subject you should be allowed to skip a bachelor’s degree and start with a master’s – even in the social sciences. The level of knowledge people have in their own field is appalling enough already even when people do the normal BA to MA progression.. I remember talking to a Greek studies major (he’d gone to college in Canada) and he drew a blank when I mentioned Thucydides’ “History of the Peloponnesian War. Studies have shown that many people with MBAs can’t define “amortize.” My Mom, who was an English teacher in the NYC school system, had a colleague who once asked at a department meeting what the meaning of the word “genre” was.

He must have lapsed into a period of pre-dementia or was in a coma state when his class was reading Thucydides. Or, unsurprisingly, our education system stinks, as many of our colleges have low standards and admit anyone with half a brain.

“At the Zoo” by Simon and Garfunkel was used in commericals for The Bronx Zoo.

I quoted a lyric from the song that I thought was apropos.

    • NYC is a zoo and it is, given the fact that there is a large NAM population mixed in with a White demographic.

All of us normal New Yorkers will come to grips that our city under the Giuliani and Bloomberg eras was only a status climbing phase, not that of a status de facto one.

A guy whom I encountered recently, who was from San Diego visiting the Big Apple for a month, told me that NYC is an overpriced dump, with large pockets of mediocrity at best, and larger pockets of dysfunctionality, as he was referring to Manhattan and the NAM areas surrounding it.

The only 2 SWPL friendly cities, free from liberal perversion are San Diego and Minneapolis.

TUJ (The Undiscovered Jew) will probably change his tune about our town, when more NAM problems begin to surface, making NYC a less desirable place to live, all thanks to Bill de Blasio.

      • Yes, I said a SWPL friendly city, and Minneapolis is one of them. It’s one of the few liberal cities that has both vibrancy and a smaller black population. It also has more amenities than the overcast Portland or Seattle; and these cities are less desirable, not only because of the grey skies, but because of the obnoxious PC liberals typically found in NYC and Chicago, whom people on this blog heavily despise.

San Diego is only 45% white, according to Wikipedia. A better name for it might be Sin Blancos.

      • The problem with Minneapolis is that the winters are COLD, COLD, COLD. Yet the summers are still hot.

How about SWPLs settling in neighboring Indianapolis, which is a basically the prole version of the Twin Cities?

There aren’t many desirable areas left in America; you have to put up with bad weather, proles or NAMs, and in the big liberal cities, a dose of everything that makes your day.

What about Santa Fe, NM or Austin, TX?

Dealing with Mexicans in Santa Fe is a lot more pleasant than Puerto Ricans in the Northeast.

      • Ha! I’m watching “48 Hours” right now, and they’re profiling black-on-black murders one after the other. According to Census.gov, Minneapolis is 19% black – right about at the 20 tipping point.

“It also has more amenities than the overcast Portland or Seattle; and these cities are less desirable, not only because of the grey skies, but because of the obnoxious PC liberals typically found in NYC and Chicago.” ————-

The important distinction is that Seattle and Portland are obnoxiously PC because they don’t have many NAMs (or haven’t traditionally, though NAMs are migrating to the cities South of Seattle). There is an inverse correlation in obnoxiousness to one’s distance from a problem. Southerners are least obnoxiously PC because daily observable reality makes PC peter pan-ism too great an exercise in cognitive dissonance. In Seattle, with a black population of just over 7% and an Hispanic population just over 6%, your average Seattle SWPL need have no real contact with undesirable blacks and thus has fewer daily experiences that would disabuse them of their peter pan beliefs. Southerners, by comparison, have no real way to avoid coming into contact with undesirable blacks. It is also worth noting that northern blacks are, on average, more intelligent than southern blacks. Likely because the smarter of the group figured out how to leave Dixie back in the day.

Unlike Minneapolis, Portland and to a certain extent, Seattle, is also known for its rudeness despite the lack of NAM presence. All cities that tread liberal are rude for the most part.

NYC isn’t as status inducing or exclusive as one makes it out to be. What’s there to brag, when your daily encounters are with proles and NAMs? That’s the NYC experience!

    • The problem with this thinking s that you’re assuming they’d actually learn from the violence. We have decades to see that liberals never learn. Irving Kristol used to say that a conservative is a liberal who’d been mugged by reality. The problem is that for every liberal who got mugged by reality and became a conservative (neo or otherwise) there were far more liberals who got mugged by reality and simply became angry mugged liberals. What matters is not whether you’ve personally been mugged, but how you interpret and explain the experience.

      MaryK

      May 18, 2014 at 10:52 PM

      • Liberals don’t care about learning. They care about status whoring and expanding their green religion. Everyone knows they don’t really behave like they portray themselves in their media. Their propaganda is like a skipping record of a bad Poison song from the 80s.

        May 19, 2014 at 10:48 AM

      • Euro tourists, and their SWPL suburban resident equivalents, get a vagina tingle when they see NAMs monkeying in the streets; which is a crude way of saying that they confuse the excitement that comes from novelty with “good”. They then go back to their fortresses and lobby and blog for more of what gave them that excitement. Their privileged networks provide positive social reinforcement. The excitement, of course, is fronted by a facade of faux compassion because, let’s face it, admitting to a vagina tingle is bad form. Of course, the kids will go to private schools if the excitement ever makes its way to their school district.

As for crime in NYC, I think the perception among residents is that it’s quite low. It would take several high profile instances of black on white crime to change that perception, I think.

After all, the Reconquista and the Inquisition was to rid of the Jewish and Islamic elements from the Iberian peninsula so that Spain could become a unified nation with one set of norms. Colonizing Latin America was a mistake on their part, hence a moment of delusional greed that turned out to be a disaster.
