I believe Epstein committed suicide

1. He had no reason to live and every reason to off himself.

I’m sure Epstein could see which way the wind was blowing. The powers that be wanted to make sure he spent the rest of his days in prison. After experiencing the horrors of the Metropolitan Correctional Center, it makes sense that he would want to end his life. Maybe ordinary people don’t do that, they’re too chicken to kill themselves, but Epstein was no ordinary person. He was probably a psychopath or at least had psychopathic tendencies. For narcissistic reasons, suicide is a far more glorious way to go than becoming an old man in prison if he doesn’t get beat up and killed by other inmates before dying behind bars of old age.

2. I don’t see how anyone benefits from his suicide.

Just the opposite. Epstein had no incentive to talk, it would just give prosecutors more evidence against him, and there’s no way they would ever give him any sort of deal. On the other hand, with Epstein dead, anyone who was afraid of speaking the truth out of fear of what Epstein could do to get revenge upon them, they no longer have to worry about that.

As I previously wrote, without Epstein as a scapegoat, prosecutors looking for people to punish will go after those who otherwise might have gotten deals to testify against Epstein. Especially Ghislaine Maxwell, who everyone seems to think was Epstein’s highest-level accomplice in securing under-aged girls. From an article in the Miami Herald:

However, with his death, prosecutors in the Southern District of New York will likely refocus their probe on Maxwell, Sarah Kellen Vickers, Adriana Ross and Lesley Groff — all of whom allegedly helped run Epstein’s operation in the mid- to late-2000s. Another woman, Nadia Marcinkova, who is now a commercial pilot, was accused of sexually abusing some of the underage girls.

Or maybe, they will go after other rich and powerful men who may have had sex with Epstein’s under-aged girls.

Dead people have fewer Fourth Amendment rights than living people, so Epstein’s death could potentially make things a lot easier for federal investigators.

The probate process will probably be very revealing. A lot of Epstein’s secrets will be publicly revealed which would otherwise have remained hidden.

This Rolling Stone article has useful info which backs me up:

Duncan Levin, former prosecutor for the Eastern District of New York and managing partner at Tucker Levin PLLC, says it’s not all that surprising that Epstein could have successfully completed an attempt at MCC. “There are all sorts of illegal things at the MCC, from drugs to cell phones to alcohol,” he says, adding that inmates themselves have been known to conduct checks for fellow inmates on suicide watch at the jail.

. . .

And the fact that Epstein will never fully see justice in the criminal system, combined with the outrage and confusion many are now feeling over how this could have happened in the first place, will “ultimately translate to increased pressure on the government to investigate those who facilitated his crimes. I think that’s much more likely now,” says Levin.

  1. You convinced me Lion. I’m sure there was no foul play involved in this at all. Epstein realized that he couldn’t handle another harsh sentence like the previous one where he had to go part-time to a special facility in Palm Beach. That must’ve really traumatized him, so he took his own life.

    • There’s no way Epstein would have been able to get away with that this time. Look how they denied him bail and locked him up in the MCC house of horrors with a hulking guido mass murderer for a cellmate. (Although the guido’s laywer says that they got along well, and the guido saved his life the first time he tried to commit suicide.)

      • Tartaguido was the least of his concern. Furthermore, a White police officer who used to patrol in Westchester wouldn’t be the same type of police officer who oversees a disenfranchised black neighborhood.

        Ok, what, who's this again?

  2. The conspiracy theorist in me wants to believe Epstein was suicided. The realist admits that he likely commited suicide.

Regardless, the past few weeks have been some of the best news-producing weeks in the history of news.

    • What was the point in killing him? A longtime friend of Bill Clinton and Donald Trump, who would testified against these men who took part in the sex ring?

  3. I believe he killed himself too. It’s a sad ending to an otherwise well-lived life.

  4. It is plausible that he wanted to commit, but how could he do it while on a suicide watch?

Epstein was likely to spend the rest of his life in prison, unless he negotiated a plea deal. He successfully negotiated a plea deal before. If he could incriminate high-profile targets, he would probably be offered another plea deal. Even if the deal is just to get assigned to a more favorable prison, it might be worth it. Other rich and powerful men must have been worried about what deal Epstein might make.

      • Epstein was one of the most famous prisoners in the entire country, maybe the single most famous now that El Chapo, the various Arabs and especially the Unibomber are yesterday’s news. MCC would have found the resources.

I’m usually anti conspiracy theory (I roll my eyes when map posts one of his usual deep state conspiracy tales), but in this case, either it was a wacky conspiracy theory ( Aliens off’d Epstein with Clinton’s help) or the feds are SOOOOO incompetent, that they should all be fired and the federal government shut down.

I asked aloud if it wouldn’t be a major problem if doctors said someone died around 12:00 and we said we did a night check at 2:30. “Yeah,” they said, “that’d be bad,” they said.

  6. You may have a point with #2.

Bernie Madoff could have killed himself while under house arrest simply by jumping off the balcony of his penthouse.

According to published reports, he didn’t because he knew that, with him dead, the prosecutors would go heavy on his family members.

    Justice Duvall

    August 10, 2019 at 6:44 PM

    • For Epstein, that may have been an added reason for him to commit suicide. Why should he be the only one who has to face prison? Let the feds go after other people after he dies!

      August 10, 2019 at 7:02 PM

      • If that’s the case, and he was bitter about being the only one to take a fall for something so many others were also doing, then he could have just as easily squealed to cut a deal. He might have spent the rest of his life in prison. But he could have negotiated for one of those country club penitentiaries based on his age. One could do a lot worse than a prison with a golf course and swimming pool.

    • Good for you – you seem to be only person here who groks that Epstein did in fact have “reason to live,” at least for the short term. Alan Dershowitz had publicly stated that Epstein couldn’t lawfully be re-prosecuted, so why not stick around until that argument was exhausted?

  8. I’m a bit of a conspiracy theorist, but I agree with lion here. Epstein knew the jig was up and they were going to take down those close to him like bowling pins. Had he stayed alive he could have taken the fall- to whatever degree- but he just gave the big F you to maxwell among others.

He also faced his remaining years without access to what was clearly an addiction for him, and that alone may have made life not worth living.

My only question is how does one hang oneself in a jail cell that I assume has basic safety protocols in place? Wouldn’t all lighting be recessed? What exactly do you tie the torn bedsheet to?

    • Do the cells there have bars or metal doors? If it’s bars then it’s pretty obvious. But even with metal doors, you’d be surprised how many people have hung themselves on doorknobs. Even prior to Epstein, there wild theories because so many famous people have hanged themselves that way including:

Michael Hutchence – INXS lead singer
David Carradine – Kung Fu actor
      Alexander McQueen – Fashion designer
      Aaron Swartz – Reddit co-founder
L’Wren Scott – Fashion designer (and Mick Jagger gf)
      Robin Williams – Comedian
Chris Cornell – Soundgarden lead singer
Chester Bennington – Linkin Park lead singer
      Avicii – Swedish DJ
      Kate Spade – Fashion designer
Ines Zorreguieta – sister of Dutch Queen Maxima
      Anthony Bourdain – Celebrity chef

I’m really impressed by how many fashion designers and musicians have used door knobs. Even the sister of a royal. It’s a very classy way to go. If I were SC, that’s the way I’d do it.

  9. The things he alone could have told or justified are buried.

The one shared by others, like his alleged Israel blackmail or his Webb of billionaires interested in children, are not at all endangered by his death.

And this extraordinary death would be a powerful deterrent to anyone who would have been willing to speak « look at what « we » did despite the media and government – one guy was sacked from government – attention.

True, the focus is now on the other characters, and they are in a worse positions. But if we take the hypothesis of the conspiracy, I ll see them more willing to shut up than talk. The problem with this theory was that no one said Epstein was willing to talk But couldn’t he have got a plea deal if he had been able to bring down billionnaires and politics ? He probably would have had a deal. And he probably would have been willing to take it …

So the murder hypothesis is not more crazy than the suicide one.

Wexner is an old man and a heart attack in the next month or so wouldn’t be a wholly implausible. With Wexner, Epstein, and Maxwell dead the truth never comes out. So I would say there is a huge incentive to kill him.

As for him offing himself, why would he do that if he has dirt on Prince Andrew and Clinton? Epstein could have EASILY traded them and all the rest for a witness protection program if it came to that. He had an ace up his sleeve and he knew it.

  16. He was taken off suicide watch and the camera broke. I read another comment that pointed out that if they went to those brazen lengths to off him, they must have been really desperate. There’s no way that would have happened to that high profile an inmate even in poorly run Mayberry. If there’s one thing public employees actually care about it’s not looking bad in the news. They couldn’t give two shits about the rest of the inmates. Don’t be a fool.

  17. There’s a small problem with your theory. Epstein had already been arrested once, and he didn’t try to commit suicide then. More likely, some people wanted him dead before he started to talk.

Also: guards gone, suicide watch over, camera malfunction,…? Please. That’s a bit too much…

There are many groups, people in high places, even countries who wanted Epstein dead, so we’ll have to see who wanted it the most.

  20. So if Epstein killed himself, how did he kill himself?

Suicide by hanging requires a belt or some other strong object that would hold Epstein’s weight. Shoelaces would not cut it (unless they’re leather), and most clothes would not cut it. In no prison I’ve ever heard of would a prisoner have access to a belt. And all of this depends upon the possibility of there being some secure & accessible object overhead to use for hanging. Again, very unlikely.

I also don’t think the photos of Epstein’s body correspond closely to that of a man who died by hanging. Hanging will often leave the victim’s entire face pulpish with blood from burst blood vessels, tongue hanging out, eyes bulging or even ejected from the socket. It’s far more likely that his death was via suffocation or strangulation than hanging.
